I stopped by this shop while I was nearby (*^^*) It mainly sells vegetables, but also has meat, fish, and general groceries, so it's almost like a supermarket (#^.^#). Unfortunately, they didn't have any local vegetables in season, but I chose three items from Hokkaido: burdock from Tokachi (excluding tax 100 yen), garlic chives from Mukawa (excluding tax 180 yen), and fried fish cake from Asahikawa (excluding tax 298 yen). I made kinpira with the burdock, chijimi with the garlic chives, and had the fried fish cake in oden, and they were all delicious! I hope to visit again in the summer to buy some local seasonal vegetables. Thank you, "Ookura"! ♪

In August, I visited the town of Fukagawa for the first time to gather some material. It's a town off National Route 12, so I don't usually come here. I don't think I'll be coming to Fukagawa much anymore. When corn season starts in August, I can't help but buy some. I'm not a fan of corn in ramen or fried rice, and I don't order buttered corn at izakayas. But during the season, I love to eat boiled or grilled corn with the husk on. So I always buy corn at the local market. Here at Ookura, it's harvest season, and all the vegetables are cheap. The corn I bought was sweet and delicious. The eggplant I bought was pickled in salt, perfect for munching on in the summer. The crooked cucumbers and zucchinis I bought were also discounted, and I made them into a quick pickle. This was my first time trying a zucchini quick pickle, and it was incredibly delicious. Although the vegetables are very affordable, I probably won't be coming back here, which is a shame.
