I climb the stairs of a building on Koto Street as per the directions, and upon opening the door to Shimadaya, I am greeted by a very friendly staff who escorts me to the counter. After handing over a coupon, I order a drink - oolong tea, as I will be driving. Soft drinks are priced at a very affordable 180 yen, excluding non-alcoholic beer. Alcoholic drinks are also reasonably priced. The all-you-can-drink option is attractively priced, and the all-you-can-eat and drink option is also very appealing. I choose three types of meat from the menu - Kalbi, small bag of Genghis Khan, and All-Tare flavor. The appetizer arrives, consisting of Namul, which is fresh and delicious. The crisp and fresh spinach is a delight, and the appetizer is so good that even if it came with two servings, it would be even more enjoyable. The Hormone from the coupon is seasoned with salt and garlic, giving it a punchy flavor. The Hormone is chewy and flavorful, with a nice thickness. The Kalbi has a slight firmness but a favorable seasoning, with a strong taste of grated ginger. The Genghis Khan Kalbi, with a strong ginger sauce flavor, has a more soaked-in sauce feel, but as you chew, the flavor seeps out and pairs well with beer. I occasionally dipped the meat in Negi Miso sauce, which added a refreshing taste to the barbecue. The miso-flavored Negi added a nice touch to the barbecue. The base flavor of the grated ginger soy sauce mixed with miso was delicious. The restaurant was quite busy from the 5 o'clock hour, indicating its popularity. Shimadaya Koto store seems to be a place that will be trendy in the future. The restaurant offers half-size options in addition to regular sizes at reasonable prices, making it a very attractive option. Overall, the rating is 3.5 for taste, service, atmosphere, and cost performance, and 3.2 for drinks. The location is 2F, Kawahara Building, 1-3-2 Koto 2-jo, Nishi-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. Next time, I look forward to enjoying barbecue while drinking draft beer!
