It's a melon and vanilla mixed soft serve. It's cheap at the airport for 330 yen! The inside of the soft serve was hollow though. Sometimes you come across shops that serve hollow soft serve, which can be a bit sad. The intense green color of the grass daifuku was really delicious. The mochi was soft too. The filling inside wasn't too heavy, so you could probably eat 2 or 3 pieces.

"Chocolate Warabi Banana Soft Serve" for 450 yen. When it comes to soft serve at the airport, there is a popular shop that uses Okoppe milk to make their soft serve. "Ikkyu Dafukudo" is also a famous shop from a mochi shop in Hokkaido. When I tried to buy the soft serve, I saw the words "limited quantity" in front of me... I had no choice but to try it, so I decided on the "Chocolate Warabi Banana Soft Serve" for 450 yen. The staff at the shop were very nice. I received the soft serve at the shop and enjoyed it at the food court. It was a vanilla soft serve with chocolate powder on top. The vanilla soft serve was more like a sweet western-style dessert rather than a milk type. There were four pieces of chocolate warabi mochi on top. There were bananas at the bottom. It looked like a parfait at first glance. Chocolate, vanilla, banana. It was a cold and delicious dessert.

When using Asahikawa Airport, I always look forward to enjoying the soft serve ice cream from Milk Stand Esperio. It was so delicious that I even got seconds a year ago, and I was looking forward to it again this time. However, to my disappointment, the soft serve ice cream machine was broken and they were only selling milk... After having a meal at the food court, I decided to try the soft serve ice cream from there. It was just an ordinary sweet soft serve ice cream. While I'm sure many people enjoy this kind of sweet soft serve ice cream, I personally prefer the refreshing taste of milk soft serve, so I won't be coming back for more. They were selling two big mitarashi dango skewers for 300 yen, which was a reasonable price, so I should have gone for that instead. The cup was cute.

I have been interested in this bird since before my trip, and finally bought some sweets here. It is incredibly cute, but unfortunately, the real ones are not even visible as stuffed animals on the way, at the zoo, or in museum exhibits. However, I will try to resist with these sweets. I would be happy if it is well received as a souvenir.

After finishing a day of work outside in the scorching heat, I stopped by to take a breather before boarding. The food and beverage options at Asahikawa Airport are relatively pricey, so finding something affordable was a relief. I cooled off with a Yubari melon soft-serve ice cream while taking a break. The spacious food court provided a calm atmosphere. As for the taste... the melon soft-serve was not bad at all.

Visited "Ikkyu Dafukudo Asahikawa Airport Store" in Asahikawa City. The store is located in the food court of Asahikawa Airport, with a white sign with black letters. The bright interior is filled with various red bean souvenirs. I decided to purchase some souvenirs and try the soft serve ice cream that caught my eye. Payment was made with a credit card.
- Shiratama Zenzai Soft Serve Ice Cream Set (550 yen): The soft serve ice cream had a rich milk flavor with a strong sweetness. Beneath it, there were red beans that were grainy, typical of a dafukudo store, and the shiratama was chewy. Overall, I found it to be a delicious soft serve ice cream. Hokkaido truly has delicious soft serve ice cream. The iced coffee was a perfect accompaniment to the sweet treat. A regular blend coffee was 500 yen, but opting for iced coffee was an additional 50 yen. It was a very satisfying set.
- Yubari Melon Soft Serve Ice Cream (350 yen): A rich Yubari melon-flavored soft serve ice cream. You can choose between a cup and a cone, and I chose the cup. It had a good texture and a strong melon flavor, making it a refreshing and delicious soft serve ice cream. This soft serve ice cream was also of high quality. Overall, it was a very delicious shop. Hokkaido's shops are generally of a high standard. Personally, I was very satisfied with this shop. If you happen to forget to have some soft serve ice cream before leaving the airport, this is a recommended shop. Including this shop, Asahikawa Airport's food court is well-equipped with good shops. It was very delicious. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

"Ichikyu Daitoku-Do" I saw something unpleasant. A child grabbed a snack and then put it back with a strange look on his face. I knew he did something wrong. I thought the old man behind us saw it, but I didn't know what to do. Should I tell the parents or the store? In the end, I pretended not to see it. For my wife's birthday, we went to an Italian restaurant in Asahikawa, but we were only in Asahikawa from the evening until 10 in the morning. We headed to Asahikawa Airport at 10 o'clock. The hotel gave us a coupon that could be used in several shops at the airport. One of the shops listed was "Ichikyu Daitoku-Do." It looked beautiful, so I had been eyeing it from the beginning. My wife chose "Mame-Mochi" and "Kusa Daitoku." The Mame-Mochi was delicious, so I bought it. She kept saying, "We have to eat it today!" It was a bit annoying. I remember liking Mame-Mochi since I was a child. It reminded me of the times we used to make mochi every year. The Kusa Daitoku was good too, not too overpowering. The mochi was delicious, just as I remembered. It's probably because the plate is bad. I didn't pay attention to it, but it's probably because we're renovating and we threw away the old dishes. I can't wait for the new ones to arrive.

Before returning to Tokyo from Asahikawa during my visit back home, I stopped by "Ikkyu Dafuku-do Asahikawa Airport Store" located in the food court "Soraichi" on the 2nd floor of Asahikawa Airport. I had a mixed soft serve ice cream (330 yen) which consisted of Hokkaido milk soft serve and Hokkaido Yubari melon soft serve. I got it in a cup. Ikkyu Dafuku-do has its main store in Asahikawa, with branches in Asahikawa and Sapporo, specializing in mochi-based treats like daifuku and dango. The store at the airport seems to offer cafe and soft serve options. The soft serve menu includes Hokkaido soft serve, Hokkaido Yubari melon soft serve, and Hokkaido mixed soft serve for 330 yen each. They also have other cafe items like white rice cake soft serve with sweet red bean soup for 450 yen, and drinks like blend coffee (hot), juice for 150 yen, and iced coffee for 200 yen. The vanilla milk soft serve had a strong milk flavor typical of Hokkaido, and the Yubari melon soft serve was rich and delicious. Even though it was in a cup, the portion was generous. After enjoying the treat, I flew back to Tokyo on a local jet. It was a delicious experience. Thank you for the meal.

Snack at Asahikawa Airport. Coffee and daifuku. Not a bad combination. There were various flavors of daifuku available, but on this day, only coffee and limited-time salt lemon were left. I decided to pair the coffee with the salt lemon daifuku. Hot coffee for 150 yen and salt lemon daifuku for 170 yen. The daifuku had a firm body, not the soft type. When you take a bite, you feel the solid thickness and density of the mochi. It's chewy and has a strong elasticity. The lemon paste inside is moist, soft, and smooth in texture. It softens the hardness of the mochi. It's chewy and the sweetness spreads with each bite. This definitely calls for coffee. As someone who prefers soft daifuku, I found it a bit hard and overly sweet, but the lemon paste was delicious.

Located right inside the food court of Asahikawa Airport, this place caught my attention as I wandered around waiting for my order. We shared the Choco Warabi Mochi, which was a delightful treat. The soft warabi mochi was wrapped around a creamy chocolate center, coated in bitter cocoa powder on the outside. The balance between sweetness and bitterness was perfect. We also tried the Walnut Daifuku for 160 yen. I was used to the kind of traditional Japanese sweets you can find in supermarkets, so this was a nice change. I intended to savor it later, but by the fourth day, it had hardened and grown mold. It looked so delicious, but I had to throw it away. It was clearly stated that it was additive-free and meant to be eaten on the same day. I apologize for the food waste.

I ordered a Yubari melon soft serve ice cream for 330 yen at the food court on the second floor departure area of Asahikawa Airport. They offer three options: melon only, mix, or soft serve. This time, I chose melon only. It had a delicious flavor of ripe red-fleshed melon. I'm not sure if the taste comes from the fruit juice or artificial flavors. It was refreshing and helped me cool down. Thank you for the meal.

In March 2022, I visited a Japanese confectionery shop near the food court on the 2nd floor of Asahikawa Airport. They mainly sold daifuku and traditional Japanese sweets, but they also had soft serve ice cream available. In addition to their own sweets, they also sold a selection of other confectionery items. It was great that you could buy individual pieces, perfect for sampling different flavors! Here are some of the items I tried:
- "Ponuguru Shimaenaga" for 130 yen: This white manju with butter-flavored white bean paste and white chocolate coating was delicious, even though the packaging featured an illustration of Shimaenaga (a bird) which I thought was cute.
- "Magoyaki" for 180 yen: This Chinese steamed bun-like confection from a shop called "Marukita" was filled with a dense red bean paste and had a satisfying weight to it.
- "Marufuku Donut" for 592 yen: This red bean donut seemed to be a popular item at Asahikawa, but I found it a bit too oily for my taste. However, after chilling it as suggested by a friend, it became more enjoyable.
We stopped by this shop right after arriving in Asahikawa, and I recommend trying their treats individually before deciding on a bulk purchase. The bus frequency from Asahikawa Airport to Asahikawa Station is surprisingly high, so it's convenient to visit this shop shortly after arrival.

- Asahikawa Airport: Soft Serve Ice Cream at Ikkyu Dafuku-Do
I had some time before my flight departure, so I decided to visit Ikkyu Dafuku-Do on the 2nd floor of the food court Soraiichi at Asahikawa Airport. While the hot coffee for 150 yen seemed like a good deal, I couldn't resist trying their soft serve ice cream made with Hokkaido milk for 330 yen. It was absolutely delicious. I've always been intrigued by soft serve ice cream in Hokkaido, and this one did not disappoint. In my experience, you can't really go wrong with soft serve ice cream in Hokkaido. I've tried it at various famous shops in different prefectures, but the ones in Hokkaido always stand out. Among the soft serve ice cream in Hokkaido, I would say that the one at Ikkyu Dafuku-Do is definitely one of the best.

Wow, time flies so fast, doesn't it? It's been a year since I had to cancel my Tokyo trip last March. With the ongoing pandemic, I still don't feel like getting on a plane and going anywhere. But I recently realized that I had accumulated quite a bit of mileage points over the past year. Instead of letting them go to waste, I decided to exchange them for a certain amount of electronic money through a computer transaction. However, I didn't pay attention to the details and ended up needing to go to a specific convenience store, either FamilyMart or Sunkus, to complete the process. Since the northernmost FamilyMart is in Takikawa and not in Asahikawa where I live, I decided to go to Asahikawa Airport to figure out if I could do it through their self-check-in machine or maybe with an app. It was my first time visiting the airport since it was renovated, and I was impressed by the large food court with many shops. I bought some mochi treats to enjoy with friends who were visiting later in the day. I chose two "Strawberry Condensed Milk Daifuku" and two "Coffee Daifuku," along with a "Black Bean Daifuku" and a "Mugwort Daifuku." The Strawberry Condensed Milk Daifuku had a unique flavor with condensed milk incorporated into the mochi and a sweet and sour strawberry filling. The Coffee Daifuku had a delightful coffee aroma and a coffee butter filling, offering a nice balance of sweetness and bitterness. My friends enjoyed the Black Bean and Mugwort Daifuku as well. It was great to see a local store like Ichikudo opening a branch at the airport, making their treats a popular souvenir choice for tourists visiting Asahikawa.

I visited Asahikawa Airport for the first time and explored the shops inside. I was drawn to a familiar store, Ichikura Daifukudo, which has many branches in Sapporo. I didn't know that Asahikawa is the main store! I wanted to try a dessert set, but I was too full to eat anything. I decided to get an iced coffee to go. The coffee was strong and bitter, perfect for enjoying with something sweet. I'll try a set meal next time for a better deal. Thank you, Daifukudo, for the delicious treat!

I didn't have any specific reason to fly... I decided to go for lunch. Every restaurant is so crowded, isn't it? I wonder if everyone here is using the airport for flying like us... or are there others like us who are here just for lunch? For now, we'll wait for a table to open up during the departure and arrival times... In the meantime, I bought a little souvenir. Ichikyu-san has delicious daifuku and warabi mochi. I enjoyed them at home with some strong matcha genmaicha tea. It was a feast. Thank you for the meal.

After eating ramen, I peeked back into Sorachi and enjoyed soft serve ice cream for dessert here. I chose a mix of Yubari melon and vanilla flavors for 330 yen, which is a bit pricey for an airport. The ice cream was smaller than I expected (lol). The ice cream had a strong Yubari melon flavor, so mixing it with vanilla was the right choice. The cone was light and crispy. Thank you for the meal! Yubari melon soft serve is delicious with just the right amount of sweetness. It was the perfect way to end my trip, making me forget all the tiredness. I was so eager to eat it that I forgot to take a picture and ended up taking a bite first... haha

The soft serve ice cream itself is delicious, but the rice cakes are hard, the sweet red bean soup is too sweet with no red bean flavor, and the coffee tastes strange. Keep trying, Hokkaido's second largest city zoo is the only highlight?
