Today is the first day of my two-day weekend! I saw a lot of food reviews every day, and recently a fellow reviewer visited a cafe in Nishino Horo that looks like an old folk house. So, my wife and I decided to go there! I tried searching for the place using my old navigation system, but couldn't find it. I then searched by address and found out that it's located deep inside Nopporo Vegetable Direct Sales Office. When we arrived, we found out that it's temporarily closed until May 31st. It's a shame because the reviewer who usually gives harsh reviews had given it a high rating! Oh well, it's a detour for us now! Sorry for the diversion! We borrowed a parking space and searched again. I suggested having udon, but my wife wanted to try a new place. So, we looked for a new udon restaurant based on food reviews and went there as a couple. When we arrived, we found out that it was under construction. My wife said, "It's under construction!" I said, "It says so on the food review too, it's fine!" We entered, but didn't take off our shoes or wear slippers, and bought tickets from the ticket vending machine. We ordered the seasonal udon A "Asari Udon" for 600 yen tax included for me, and the seasonal udon B "Sakura Shrimp Tempura Udon" for 550 yen tax included for my wife. The visual presentation was impressive, with a large shrimp tempura. The asari udon was normal. The inari sushi was big and only 100 yen! The waiting time was long, just like the "Yudetaro" I go to every morning. We bought food tickets from the vending machine, received a number tag at the counter, and waited to be called. Condiments were self-served at the counter, and so was the tea and water. Why was it so slow? After eating, the inari sushi was really delicious! Maybe they use the same supplier! The tempura was generous and tasty, though slightly oily at the bottom. The broth was light, but flavorful! It seemed thin at first, but was actually quite satisfying. Around lunchtime, the restaurant was full of construction workers and only four regular customers. Postscript: To try Sanuki udon, maybe it's best to wait until after the construction is finished. My wife said, "Let's go back when it's calmer!" Good luck to the restaurant! I would consider revisiting in the future!
