Today I went on a motorcycle tour and rode about 400km. On the way back, after a long time due to the coronavirus pandemic, I visited a ramen shop and had their delicious shio ramen for 950 yen. When I entered, I was the only customer. The chef greeted me, saying it's been a while. The ramen was ready in about 5 minutes. I took a sip of the soup and thought to myself, "So delicious!" I have 30 minutes left to get home, so I will drive safely.

While driving on the Tohoku Expressway towards Kushiro, I couldn't find anything to eat at the service area during lunchtime. I decided to stop at a yellow building with a ramen sign that I often saw in Kushiro city. I had never been there before, so I went in without hesitation. I looked at the menu and ordered the miso vegetable ramen. When the ramen arrived, I took a bite and was impressed by its hot temperature and firm noodles. I thought the flavor was a bit light for my taste, so next time I would ask for a stronger flavor. The friendly atmosphere created by the owner was also great. Thank you very much.

I chose the Shiro Miso ramen with butter topping! It's been a while since I had it! My partner chose the Miso ramen! The first ramen I had when I was born was like a Horyu ramen! It's a Shiro Miso Horyu! It's a Miso Horyu! Maybe my ramen soul is Horyu! It's not available at this store... But for locals, Horyu might be the origin of ramen from decades ago!

I visited right after the store opened. Today, I had the delicious white miso ramen. The soup was gentle and tasty. At first, I thought the flavor was a bit light, but it gradually became just right towards the end. During lunchtime, it seemed like there were regular customers as they kept coming in without any breaks. Horyu's miso ramen is really delicious.

This is the taste of Hokuryu's miso ramen! I remembered the miso ramen from Hokuryu that was on Kitadai Street in Kushiro when I was a child. The soup has a rich flavor, not too salty, and I drank it all. In a sea of fancy new soup shops, I'm happy to find a place that reminds me of the miso ramen I had in the past.

I went to Ramen Horyu Urahoro store! It's my second time, over 20 years ago. I decided to visit after a long time. The parking lot is spacious, even large trucks can park. When I looked at the menu, there were various types of ramen available, including curry and seafood. But the prices were quite high. Even the soy sauce ramen was 800 yen. It seemed like they had just raised their prices. The owners, a husband and wife, were apologizing to the customers. It took quite a while for the food to arrive, but you could feel the attention to detail. After about 10 minutes, the ramen appeared. It looked like a typical Ramen Horyu dish. It tasted delicious, not too salty, with a mild soup and perfectly cooked noodles. The noodles were medium-thick and curly, which went well with the soup. The toppings included the usual dry type of chashu, menma, green onions, and wood ear mushrooms, all of which were decent. Overall, the ramen was well-balanced and well-made. However, the high prices were a bit disappointing. Thank you, Ramen Horyu Urahoro store!

I'm almost done with my work at Toyohoku Somen, so today I decided to go to the Houryu restaurant in Urakoro for the first time in a while. The interior of the restaurant has 4 sunken tables and an L-shaped counter. It's 11 o'clock. There is one group of 2 customers already seated, and 4 groups of 7-8 customers waiting. I ordered the special Urakoro white miso ramen for 800 yen. The toppings included thinly sliced chashu, green onions, menma, wood ear mushrooms, shredded red chili peppers, and white sesame seeds. It's rare to see no bean sprouts in Houryu's miso ramen. The noodles were medium-thick curly noodles. The soup was rich and the lard created a film on top, keeping it hot until the end. The white miso gave the soup a mild and delicious flavor, with a unique seafood broth taste. It wasn't too spicy. It was a delightful meal.

I moved to Kitami and have not eaten out once in almost a month! For some reason, my business is booming in Tokachi and Sapporo, and I end up going to Tokachi a lot! Today, I went to Karamusho! I thought I would arrive before evening, so I decided to stop here for lunch. There are several dining options once you enter the city, and there is quite a bit of traffic along Route 38. The restaurant is quite busy during lunchtime, but the turnover is fast. The service is good, and I ordered the special Miso Ramen with extra flavor and butter topping. In my opinion, you need to order the extra flavor option because the regular soup is a bit bland. The Miso Ramen here is typical of Hokkaido style, and I personally like it. The special Miso Ramen has a richer flavor compared to the regular one. The noodles are decent, and overall, I enjoyed my meal. I had a conversation with the owner, and he mentioned that the special Miso Ramen is exclusive to this shop. However, I later found out that there are other shops offering a similar dish, but the taste is different. I should have kept my mouth shut, but I ended up sharing this information with the owner. Lesson learned!

Hokkaido is known for its Hokuryu Mountain Okakeya family, and when it comes to Hokkaido franchises that can compete with them, Hokuryu is the only one that comes to mind. Hokuryu has many franchise locations in Hokkaido, such as Tottori, Oorakuke, Koitoi, Urashoro, Makubetsu, and Nishi 23-jo. Among them, Urashoro Hokuryu is like a soul food restaurant for the locals. Don't expect great customer service, but the taste is typical Hokuryu flavor. I don't hate it because it's a comfort food for me. I don't expect much, but I also don't deny it. It's a taste I've been familiar with since childhood. I want to top it with miso and butter. Don't expect too much, but I don't want to say it's not delicious either.
