Long time no see! Due to feeling unwell after the summer fatigue, I haven't been able to update my reviews or check my timeline to like posts. Please understand. I recently got my second dose of the COVID vaccine, but it will take a little longer for immunity to kick in, so I am minimizing dining out for now. Even after immunity, the vaccine is not perfect against the Delta variant, so I will take it easy on my food log activities for a while. I will be taking it slow for the time being, so thank you for your understanding.
On this day in Sapporo, the temperature went back up over 30 degrees after briefly feeling like autumn, making me feel exhausted. I didn't have the energy to eat much for lunch, so I snacked on some sweets, but by 3 o'clock, I started to feel hungry and decided to have a proper meal outside. Since many eateries were closed for a break at that time, I didn't have many options. Chain restaurants are a lifesaver in these situations, as they usually stay open all day. Considering my health, I thought of this "Bikkuri Donkey" nearby, which I hadn't visited in over a year.
When I arrived after a long time, I noticed that the large wooden window-like menu board, a characteristic of this place, was gone. Perhaps due to the pandemic, they stopped using it to avoid the hassle of disinfecting it? Oh, maybe it's because they switched to tablet ordering. The payment process was also self-service. It seems they are minimizing face-to-face interactions. I started with a Sun Orange juice (lunch price 200 yen) to raise my blood sugar. It was easy to drink and refreshing, with a generous amount.
For the main dish, I chose the "Irodori Set" (1,065 yen). It's a one-plate meal with a small portion of rice, a generous serving of fresh vegetable salad, and a choice of 100g or 150g hamburger. It also comes with a large miso soup and a drink or mini soft-serve ice cream. Since I enjoyed the Pine Burger last time, I ordered it again. (The price varies depending on the toppings). The 100g hamburger was filling enough, but I felt a bit unsatisfied, so next time I might go for the 150g. I also added the hamburger sauce (free), which you have to ask for as it doesn't come automatically. It's not demi-glace sauce but more like an onion sauce. The miso soup that day had wakame seaweed and enoki mushrooms. I love soups, so I appreciated the generous portion. As the dressing was lacking last time, I asked for extra dressing for the salad. The mini soft-serve came with a piece of mochi inside, but I asked for it separately as it tends to harden if left in the cold. It's not cheap, but I think it's a well-balanced set. I enjoyed my meal. I'll visit again sometime. Thank you for the meal!
