It's been a month since I visited Date City, so I decided to do a food log activity! I bought a 3-pack of mini croissants at the Noboribetsu store the other day and they were delicious. Freshly baked croissants are always the best! Mini croissants 3-pack for 209 yen. Thank you for the delicious meal! (^^)v

While exploring road stations, I stopped by a shop called CO-OP Sapporo Date Store because I was feeling a little hungry. I found a variety of breads inside, and decided to purchase two for snacks. One was the "5 Cheese Tearing Bread" (192 yen) which had cheddar, gouda, parmesan, mozzarella, and mixed cheeses as toppings on bite-sized bread. It was delicious, but I prefer a little less cheese. The other bread was the "Macaron Melon Pan" (154 yen), which had a fluffy bread with a crispy cookie dough on top. My companion who loves melon bread enjoyed it a lot. I will definitely visit another branch of "Date Store" in the future. Thank you for the meal!

I stopped by "Ref-Bon" for a quick bite before lunch for work. I quickly picked out a middle-aged woman and lined up at the counter to pay. I got a soft salt bread for 86 yen, a pork bun for 118 yen, and a red king crab cream donut for 108 yen. I ate them in the car right away. The "soft salt bread" was soft as the name suggests, with a mild saltiness. I prefer a crispy crust though. The "pork bun" was cleverly named and tasted like a pork bun, which I didn't mind. The "red king crab cream donut" had a strong crab flavor, which I quite liked. It's a bit disappointing that there aren't many hard bread options. I will visit again. Thank you for the meal.

In Date Co-op, they have fresh bread that I bought because it was freshly baked. It's not the hotel bread, which I prefer. It costs 514 yen per loaf, which seems cheap, and it seems to use wheat from Hokkaido. They gave it to me in a box without sealing it since it was freshly baked, and they also included a plastic bag for storage. I tried a piece at home, and it was delicious. I sliced and froze the rest, and it was still tasty.

On the way back from Hakodate at high speed, the road was closed from Date to Muroran. Even the local roads were closed. Moreover, the road was flooded due to the river overflowing. Oh no, this is the first time I've experienced this. I wonder if I can make it back home... The typhoon is really strong, huh! Now, I'm avoiding the flooded road and taking shelter at Kezudenki. By the way, I remembered that they have a bakery here! Maybe I'll calm down by eating some salt bread... Inside the store, the Co-op was operating as usual... However, the neighboring dry cleaner's store is unsure when they will reopen. With the current road conditions, it's understandable... - Salt Bread: This is my favorite at Le Bong! It's a delicious salt bread that's crispy and juicy. And it's only 86 yen! - Chewy Donut: Not too sweet, with a soy sauce flavor. It's packed with chewy texture inside, very satisfying. I really liked the taste and texture! And it's very reasonably priced. - Paper Baked Sweet Potato: The black sugar flavor is strong, and it goes really well with the sweet potato. The bread is fluffy and white. The combination of the sweet potato chunks and fluffy bread is excellent. When sweet potato bread is abundant, it feels like autumn is here. Thank you for the meal! In the end, the road closure was lifted two hours later, and I was able to return home via the national highway...

After visiting various hot springs in Bankai, we had dinner in Date. I found a bakery called Refbon when I searched online! If there's a Co-op nearby, they have Refbon. I love their salt bread here. After renting at GEO, we headed to Refbon. They always have new bread for each season, and this time they had a new face for their salt bread! In addition to the usual firm and buttery salt bread, they also had a "soft salt bread" as a new addition! It's nice that they offer samples of the new bread, so you can taste before buying. Even though it was quite late, they still had samples available for us to try. The salt bread is made with fermented butter and Guérande salt, giving it a slightly firm texture and delicious taste. I really like the salt bread here, so whenever I see Refbon anywhere in Hokkaido, I always buy it. It's a bit high in calories due to the butter, but it's so tasty. The soft salt bread is more like a roll bread, soft and fluffy. They sprinkle a generous amount of salt on top. However, the inside dough is just like a roll bread. The combination of salty topping and sweet dough creates a delicious sweet and salty flavor. But in the end, I still prefer the authentic salt bread. Both are delicious, but I recommend the traditional salt bread! Thank you for the meal!
