This was my first time staying in the town of Shibetsu. I usually stay at hotels on the outskirts of town, but I really wanted to see what the town was like. I was recommended this restaurant near Shibetsu Station. The exterior looked like a traditional Japanese restaurant, but inside there was a counter and tatami seating, giving it a family-friendly vibe. I sat at the counter and ordered a beer to start. The hamburger looked delicious, so I ordered that. It was quite large and the sauce had a great flavor. I couldn't stop drinking. I also ordered grilled silver cod, which the owner cooked right in front of me. It was fatty and incredibly tasty. The owner and I seemed to be around the same age, and we talked about how we used to warm milk on a coal stove during winter in elementary school. I heard that letting potatoes sit makes them taste even better. As a potato lover, I need to confirm this. I'm looking forward to visiting again in the spring.

It was a local bar that had a strong presence in the area. The interior of the restaurant was quite spacious, with a wide variety of dishes that left me satisfied.
