My daughter safely graduated from kindergarten and we went on a 3-night, 4-day trip to Tomamu in Hokkaido to ski, which she had been looking forward to! It was our first time traveling by plane in about 3 and a half years, and it was her first time traveling since she was old enough to remember. We left home before 5:30 in the morning, took a bus from Tokyo Station to Narita Airport, and arrived safely at New Chitose Airport at 9:25. First, we replenished our sugar levels with soft-serve ice cream rich in fresh milk, which my daughter desired, and then headed to Tomamu. From New Chitose Airport to Tomamu, it takes about 2 hours by highway bus and about 1 hour and 40 minutes by train. Since we didn't have a reservation for the highway bus and couldn't accurately predict the timing, we decided to take the train. At Minami Chitose Station, my husband spotted a station bento shop! It had a nostalgic, old-fashioned feel. The bento boxes sold there were three seafood bento boxes featuring local specialties. Perhaps scallops and salmon are the specialties. In the end, we couldn't eat the bento on the train because we had to stand. We ended up eating it in our hotel room after check-in. Wow! The contents were quite luxurious, and the actual food looked even more delicious than the sample photos! The ingredients included scallops, salmon roe, and scallops, among others. Each ingredient was much more delicious than I had imagined, and I was surprised. Among them, the scallops were soft, flavorful, and the minced scallops in the mixed rice were also delicious! Honestly, when it comes to train bentos, the overall eating experience is part of the food, and there are few that taste really good. However, I would definitely like to try this one again.
