A sushi restaurant in Morimachi should have a variety of side dishes in addition to sushi.

I went to have lunch on April 30th (Wednesday). I took a picture of the SL Onuma-gou and had a somewhat early meal in the middle of nowhere. In the town of Mori, there are only four sushi restaurants. This is one of them. The most popular restaurant on Tabelog opens at 12 o'clock, so I chose this place that opens at 11:30 to avoid waiting. I relied on the navigation system to find the place, but it was located in a residential area off the main street. It's relatively close to the station, but it seems a bit hard to find. However, the restaurant itself seemed to be a solid standalone building that also serves as a residence. It was a small family-run restaurant. There was no lunch menu, so I chose from the regular menu. I had the "Special Deluxe Chirashi" for 1600 yen, which seemed like a reasonable price considering the average price of sushi restaurants in the area. The extra serving of pickles was complimentary. Overall, I was satisfied with the meal. Mori is known for its fishing port, but the variety of fish caught is quite limited, so most of the ingredients are sourced from suppliers in Hakodate. I sat at the counter, so the owner let me try a fresh shrimp. He explained the difference between yesterday's shrimp and today's shrimp, emphasizing the importance of freshness in taste and texture. It's hard to say which one is better, as freshness alone doesn't determine everything.

Yasu Sushi is a sushi restaurant in Morimachi that was featured in the July 2011 issue of the magazine HO. Since I started going to "Sushi Ooneta" which also received one Michelin star, around May last year, I have been visiting Yasu Sushi from time to time. Today, I had the 1940 yen special premium sushi. The selection included kanpachi, maguro, hirame, awabi, hotate, tsubu, kani, ebi, ikura, and uni, a total of 10 pieces. I was satisfied with being able to enjoy my favorite uni and awabi in the special premium set for less than 2000 yen. The hirame was also delicious. The takeaway assortment had a variety of toppings, making it enjoyable to eat. In the raised seating area, the landlady had arranged ikebana made with charcoal from the local Komagatake mountain, giving it a nice touch.

I don't want to introduce it, but it's hard to find delicious sushi at this price. It's not just better than Tsukiji, it's actually disrespectful to compare it to Tsukiji. The balance between the rice and the toppings is excellent. The selection of sake is also perfect for sushi. I recommend the gunkan with nameko mushrooms here. The sweet nameko mushrooms are complemented by the refreshing shiso leaf. The harmony created by the fragrant seaweed of the gunkan, the rice, and the toppings in your mouth is unique and refreshing, something that cannot be replicated elsewhere. The freshness of the seafood and the beauty of the nigiri parade are unmatched, and I highly recommend experiencing it. It's simply delicious. The beauty of the building also adds to the charm, with the interior design enhancing the taste of the sushi even more.

I visited a sushi restaurant recommended by locals after seeing a pamphlet at a roadside station called "Mori." The "Jou Sushi" set costs 1200 yen and includes about 8 pieces of sushi along with miso soup. The sushi was really fresh, with a good balance of flavors in the sushi rice. I also tried some additional items like botan shrimp, saury, and squid ears. The shrimp was compared to "Nanban shrimp" and had a different taste. The chef was very hospitable and service-oriented. Overall, it was a delightful meal. I don't think I can have sushi this good in Kansai anymore. The location might be a bit hard to find, so it might be a good idea to call ahead.

Today we had Yu Sushi at home because of a family event. It's our usual choice and always delicious. I wish I could share it with our ancestors, but even though we can't see them, I like to think they are enjoying it with us. Thank you very much for the meal.
