Head to "Sanuki-style Udon Kirinya Honmachi Honten" in Chuo-ku, Osaka. It is located about 350m southeast from Yodoyabashi Station Exit 11 of the Osaka Metro. The area has plenty of parking ticket and coin parking options due to its proximity to the business district. The owner of this shop, who trained at the famous Takamatsu restaurant "Sakaeda" for five years, opens the shop from 7 a.m. as a "morning udon possible" establishment. The interior features standing counters from the entrance to the order counter on both sides. I ordered the "Kake Udon (cold)" for 390 yen and the "Beni Shoga Tempura" on the tray for 160 yen. Although only Beni Shoga Tempura was available at the time, you can request your preferred tempura for a freshly fried serving. The condiment corner by the cashier offers tenkasu, grated ginger, and dried bonito. On the standing eating side, there are shichimi togarashi, white sesame, and Kirinya's original blend of shichimi sansho. The medium-thick udon swimming in the chilled broth is a navy blue bowl that enhances the whiteness of the udon. The smooth slurping texture and the moderate firmness that doesn't go too hard are delightful. The udon has a gentle melt-in-your-mouth quality, with the sweetness of wheat spreading throughout the mouth. The chilled broth with dried bonito and kombu has an authentic flavor without being Kansai-ized. I couldn't help but try a bit of the shichimi sansho, which reminded me of the famous Kuro Shichimi from Hararyokaku. Achieving a near-local self-service store price in Osaka's business district is impressive enough, but there is no sense of compromise in taste or service style. Once inside the shop, you feel like you are in Kagawa Prefecture. Thank you for the meal! (^^)

Last night, after drinking at a farewell party, I felt like having noodles even though I had slept all night (laughs). I had a proper breakfast at home, but I was curious about this restaurant so I stopped by on my way to work. The broth had a strong bonito flavor, and the udon noodles were firm, which Kansai people would appreciate! I visited for lunch on a regular day. The place was quite crowded, a truly popular spot. This time, I decided to go for something other than mayonnaise, and I was immediately drawn to the sign for the tororo (grated yam) cold udon, so I made a quick decision. I had originally planned to get the A lunch set, but that will have to wait for another time. I had the tororo cold udon with rice ball and maitake mushroom tempura, all for 870 yen. The udon was really delicious, and I finally got to taste it, feeling happy. I can see why this place is so popular. I definitely need to come back again!

This time, I went to Kirin-ya after a long time. Even though it's still hot in September, I decided to try the refreshing dish of Sudachi Bukkake. The tempura included pickled ginger and shiitake mushrooms, along with an inari sushi. The flavorful dashi broth with dried bonito perfectly matched the chewy udon noodles. The sourness of the sudachi citrus further enhanced the appetite. I also enjoyed the tempura crumbs and dried bonito broth at the counter after finishing my meal. Standing udon noodle shop. First, you take a tray and order your udon. I ordered the B set, which includes small dried fish rice, one piece of tempura, and kake udon, so I chose one piece of tempura. You receive a numbered tag and wait for your udon to be ready. The small dried fish rice is delicious when you drizzle a little soy sauce on it. It's nice that it comes with green onions. The udon itself is slightly softer and thinner than the typical Sanuki udon. The broth was delicious, and I ended up drinking most of it, but since I couldn't find a ladle, I drank it directly from the bowl. I was the only woman there among all men, so women might feel a bit out of place. The staff explained the menu, which made me feel at ease even though it was my first time there!

After returning the bicycle, around 11:00 with about 20% of customers, there was someone taking photos with a fancy handheld camera. I wonder if they are doing coverage? I ordered the limited lunch set A with inari sushi and tempura. I stood at the counter seat in the middle and in about 5 minutes, the udon was served. The broth was light but solid and delicious. The noodles were soft and easy to eat, typical of Osaka style. They advertise the green onions from Yamasiro, but they were just average. The inari sushi was sweet and tasty. The tempura arrived about 4 minutes late, I almost forgot about it. It was light and delicious. I paid with PayPay and headed to the convenience store.

At this time of year, cold sudachi udon is refreshing and delicious. You can choose to have the sudachi slices arranged on top or squeezed for juice. In Shikoku, there is morning udon that is popular which is based on udon noodles. There is also a great deal where you can get morning udon along with inari sushi. However, I prefer to have vinegar citrus udon served cold. This is a common morning choice in the market while listening to the morning radio personality from the speakers.

I couldn't find a place that caught my eye when searching for a restaurant open early in the morning for my business trip to Osaka. Remembering a place I enjoyed before, I decided to visit for the second time. Inside the restaurant, there are counters on both sides for standing and eating (standing only). I ordered the breakfast set, and when I ordered it cold, it was delicious with a nice firm texture and a gentle and tasty Kansai dashi broth. The breakfast set feels like a good deal, and I would like to visit again when I want a hearty meal in the morning.

I usually order kake udon with strong iriko broth and top it with tempura and chikuwa ten, but this time I chose chicken and egg udon. The broth seemed to be flavored with sesame oil and soy sauce, which paired perfectly with the raw egg. Whether it's bukkake udon or not, the dishes here are always fast, delicious, and cheap.

This is a delicious Sanuki udon restaurant located in Osaka Honmachi. They open from 7 am, so it's perfect for a morning udon meal. I visited during a business trip to Osaka, stayed at a nearby hotel, and didn't have much time the next morning. It was hot, so I ordered cold udon. The taste was really good! Even eating it in the morning, I was completely satisfied. The portion size was just right. I wanted to add tempura, but since it was morning, I refrained. The price was also around 400 yen, so it's affordable! I wonder if there are other branches since this is the main store? It's a standing style eatery, but the food is delicious. There are times when I suddenly crave udon from the morning, I love udon, Kouji here! I went in search of a popular standing udon shop in Honmachi called "Ohayou Udon" that is open until 10 am. The small shop had a standing counter seat right away, and you order at the back of the shop. The tempura is fried when you order, no pre-fried items. This day, the master was handling everything alone, I wonder if it takes longer during the morning rush? ・Ohayou Udon (chilled with mizore seaweed) 450 yen tax included ・Chicken tempura 160 yen ・Chikuwa tempura (half) 120 yen It's nice that you get inari sushi with the Ohayou Udon ^_^ The broth has a good flavor with iriko, but it's slightly warm, and the noodles are soft and not the smooth and slippery texture I imagined. The freshly fried chicken tempura was good! The chilled version was a bit disappointing, but the master was friendly, and it's impressive that they are open early in the morning in the office district of Honmachi at a low price. It's nice that they are open early in the morning. The menu was a bit hard to understand, and I wanted to eat warm chicken tempura udon, but they served cold udon instead. The udon was a bit powdery and lacked freshness. I had high expectations, but it was just an average standing udon shop. I would only go there if there are no other open restaurants nearby in the early morning.

I visited during the daytime opening hours, there was no wait, and I was able to enter without any line. I ordered udon and a set with a choice of hot or cold onigiri (including inari and other options) and tempura (choose from around 10 types). The cost performance was excellent. The soup had a strong flavor of dried bonito, which was just as I hoped for. The noodles were not as firm as I expected for Sanuki udon, but they were delicious when freshly boiled. I will definitely come back again.

There is an authentic Sanuki udon (stand-up) shop near the company. If you go before 12 o'clock, there is no line, especially in the hot summer, I hurry to go there. The lunch set is particularly good value. Today, I chose cold udon with a large chicken tempura and a yukari rice ball. It has a very good texture. The chicken tempura is also very delicious! I visited on Saturday at 10:30, and since it's in an office district, there were no other customers. I ordered the cold kake udon for 390 yen. PayPay is accepted. The udon was served quickly, which makes sense. It seems like it's better to come during opening hours. The broth had a noticeable amount of shiny, solidly packed dried bonito flakes, as well as a decent amount of kombu. The balance was just right. The appearance was like this, but the noodles didn't have much chewiness, or maybe they had lost it? I wonder how it would be if I came during opening hours. But more than that, the smooth texture of the udon was amazing, capturing the flavor of the dried bonito well. It also paired well with the aroma of the wheat in the udon. I'm happy that I can eat this for this price in the morning. If I lived nearby, I feel like I would visit frequently.
