This is my second visit. I tried to open the door to enter, but it wouldn't open! It was so hard to open, I thought it was locked. People with children or those who are not strong might have trouble. Finally, I managed to enter and sat at a small elevated table because all three seats at the counter were taken. I ordered the most expensive tonkatsu set meal for 750 yen. When the dishes were brought out, the gyoza set meal was a normal size. The mini katsu curry was almost a full portion. I was expecting the tonkatsu set meal to be special, but it was completely average. The cutlet was thin and the portion size was normal. The chicken cutlet I had before was much bigger. Next time, I might go for the mini katsu curry or the ginger pork dish, which seem like a good deal.

I visited after a long time, maybe about 7 years? The grandma was working alone. The menu had gotten smaller again. The name of the restaurant has "ramen" in it, but they don't even serve ramen anymore. I ordered a mini chicken cutlet curry. The water is self-serve and the portion is still big. The cutlet was crispy and freshly fried, and all this for 350 yen is too cheap. The curry had a lot of onions and had a traditional taste. It seems I got the last curry, as the grandma told later customers that they were out of curry. Some students had to leave without having any. These kinds of old-fashioned restaurants are almost extinct, so I hope this one keeps going. Stay healthy, grandma. Thank you for the meal.

It's been a very, very long time since my last visit. I wonder how many years it has been. It was back when I was in my early twenties, just starting out as a working adult, and I visited with my former colleagues near my previous workplace. Since then, it has been many years since I last visited. "Ramen Tokachiya" had a period when it was closed, but it reopened a few years ago without serving ramen anymore. Instead, they focus on providing large portions. It's 1:00 PM and I'm sitting at the counter. The interior of the restaurant looks the same as before, or maybe I just forgot. They have a mini menu too? I decided to go with the "Mini Katsu Curry" priced at 400 yen. It's not really "mini" at all, it's a normal portion which makes me happy. The curry has a homemade taste with lots of onions and a slightly spicy flavor. The katsu is in three pieces and it's crispy and delicious. The portion size is perfect for a mini dish, and I'm completely full. It's great value for 400 yen. The customer next to me ordered a huge portion of fried rice, which looks amazing! I'll have to try it on a good day when I'm feeling up for the challenge.

A few minutes by car from JR Kitami Station. There is a shop near the intersection close to the Red Cross Hospital. It has a dignified appearance that has survived since the Showa era. The interior of the shop is the same. The name of the shop is Ramen Kachiya, but surprisingly, they do not have ramen on the menu. Instead, they offer set meals, gyoza set meals, pork bowls, and more. Among them, the most popular item is curry. It is a homemade curry that brings out the flavor of the ingredients. On this day, I ordered the pork cutlet curry. It was only 600 yen! And most importantly, it was very filling. I managed to finish it, but I didn't eat dinner that night. By the way, this shop is only open for a short time during lunch.

Lunch time! I went to a hotel for a buffet and kama-meshi, but it was quiet and the lobby wasn't open. So, I went to a nearby restaurant and ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry for 550 yen. The sound of frying the katsu was loud, and when it arrived, it was a huge portion! The katsu was made with chicken breast, juicy and crispy. The rice was cooked just right, and the curry had plenty of onions. It was a simple, home-style curry, but it matched the portion size of the meal. I am so full now, I don't need dinner. The Mini Katsu Curry for 350 yen would have been enough.

It's seriously bad. Shitty things keep happening one after another at work! Things are breaking for no reason, or I'm breaking them! Maybe I'm possessed by something weird!? So, I decided to visit Kitami Shrine, which I believe in as Kitami's sanctuary. I prayed, bought an amulet, so I should be fine now, right? Thinking about what to eat, I casually walked to this restaurant. To overcome this shitty luck, I ordered the pork cutlet set meal. It costs 700 yen including tax, the most expensive item on the menu at this restaurant. By the way, this place is called "Totsuya" but they don't serve ramen, so don't get confused. Also, their business hours are from 11 am to 1 pm only! It took a little time, but the pork cutlet arrived. Oh, for 700 yen, it's quite satisfying, isn't it? The pork cutlet is surprisingly thick and juicy. The batter is made with small breadcrumbs and thin batter, sticking firmly to the meat. The frying is done to a moderate golden brown. Nothing outstanding, but with cabbage, potato salad, miso soup, and pickles included at this price, it's quite good, right? The only downside is that the rice is a bit soft and there's not much rice in the bowl. But for me right now, this amount is just right, isn't it? And at the time of payment, they offer a stamp card saying, "Would you like this?" You get 1 stamp for every 500 yen spent, and a 500 yen discount with 10 stamps. Surprisingly, a high return rate (laughs). Well, now that I've overcome the bad luck with this pork cutlet set meal here, I should be fine, right?

I had heard about a legendary restaurant that only opens on weekdays and only for one hour from 12pm to 1pm. I finally had a weekday off from work and decided to visit. I arrived to find that the restaurant now opens at 11am starting from July 1st. The menu was surprisingly cheap and I ordered the mini pork cutlet curry. The portion was actually quite large for a "mini" size, reminiscent of the good old curry from the Showa era. The freshly fried cutlet was delicious and the curry had a nice depth of flavor with a good level of spiciness. It was only 400 yen, which was incredibly cheap. I left feeling full and satisfied. It's rare for me to have a weekday off, so I wonder when I'll be able to visit again. Next time, I might challenge myself to try the regular size curry.

This is Ramen and Katsuya, but they don't have ramen. I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry for 550 yen. I thought it wouldn't be much, but it was surprisingly a large portion and I just managed to finish it. For those with a small appetite, it might be better to go for the mini size. The curry was not too sweet or spicy, with a medium level of spiciness. The chicken katsu didn't look that big, but it was hiding under the curry and was surprisingly substantial.

I rarely come to Kitami on weekdays, so when I used to come often, I would go to a restaurant that is only open on weekdays to have lunch. I was trying to complete the conquest of all Kitami ramen shops, but I couldn't find this one called "Ramen Tokachiya" even though it's named after ramen. It turned out that they don't serve ramen anymore. I found it recently when I came to the hospital. The restaurant is closed on weekends, so I probably only came on weekends before. The restaurant looked a bit sketchy with a new curtain, but the interior was old-fashioned. I ordered curry since that's the only thing they can make. The curry tasted like homemade curry with a mild spice flavor. The chicken cutlet was disappointing and I couldn't finish it. The price was surprisingly low at 350 yen for a mini size. I had a hard time scoring this meal, but I would give it a 4 out of 5.

I had been curious about this place for a while, and I arrived just in time for the 12 o'clock opening. The facade of the restaurant looked old, and there were about 7-8 parking spaces across the road. As soon as I entered, I could tell that this place had a lot of history. They only seem to be open for about an hour during lunchtime, but as soon as they opened, customers started coming in - all of them seemed to be regulars. People were ordering without even looking at the menu. The water was self-serve, and you had to inform the staff of your order once you decided. The prices on the menu remained the same even after the tax increase. I was a bit hesitant as it was my first time there, but I decided to go with the Chicken Cutlet Set for 500 yen. The lady serving us was very friendly, and the son in the kitchen was also very nice. The food was served in about 10 minutes, with a generous portion of shredded cabbage and potato salad, topped with a big chicken cutlet as shown in the pictures. The rice portion was not very big, and the miso soup and side dish were delicious. The customer at the table next to us was having the large portion Chicken Cutlet Curry, served in a ramen bowl - it looked amazing! The menu was extensive, and the prices were very affordable. Even though they have short opening hours, they offer a stamp card where you can get 500 yen off with 10 stamps. I will definitely visit again, and next time I might try the curry!

The chicken rice with a neat appearance was delicious with plenty of chicken pieces. It cost 650 yen (^ω^). The chicken cutlet curry was 550 yen. I thought I couldn't finish it, but I ate it all (+_+). The hot chicken was delicious (๑´ڡ`๑). The curry and chicken cutlet went really well together. I prefer the curry over the chicken cutlet set. The chicken cutlet set was 500 yen. Cheap. I'm full (^ω^). The ginger pork set, including tax, was 500 yen. Cheap. It had a sweet taste and didn't taste much like ginger (・・;), but it was delicious. The dumplings set was 500 yen. The dumplings were delicious (๑´ڡ`๑). I've gotten used to the atmosphere of the restaurant. I recommend it to those who want to eat cheaply and be full.

The dumpling curry from the cafeteria that I only had for one hour during lunch was amazing in terms of quantity, but the taste was typical of what you would find in a cafeteria. I think the dumplings were probably homemade and delicious, but it was hard to tell because they were covered in curry. I would like to try the dumplings on their own. I will definitely go back again.

The water didn't come out by itself, it seems you have to pour it yourself. The katsudon is 650 yen and it's too big and heavy, making it hard to hold the bowl. It was unexpectedly large even though it wasn't the large size. It was very saucy and too sweet. The rice was mushy. The ginger pork and curry were popular. They don't have ramen. It seems like the menu has been reduced. I won't order the katsudon again, but I would like to come back to try other menu items. There is a parking lot across the street from the restaurant.

This is a normal size, but a mini size might be just right. It's also cheap.

Fried rice in large portion for 450 yen plus 100 yen. It feels more like yakimeshi than fried rice, which I like. Be careful with the door at the entrance as it is not well adjusted.

The restaurant's name has "ramen" in it, but they don't serve ramen. Their main dishes are curry and tonkatsu. The gyoza curry and chicken katsu set meal offer great value for money.

During a lunchtime meeting, I stumbled upon a restaurant with a sign that said "ramen," even though it wasn't on the menu. I decided to try their Gyozacurry, which turned out to be a huge bowl of rice, curry, and six large dumplings. The curry was slightly sweet with a hint of spiciness, and it paired perfectly with the flavorful dumplings. Despite feeling extremely full after finishing the dish, I was impressed by the delicious combination. I later returned to try their daily special, which came in a bento-style container with rice, grilled meat, various side dishes, and miso soup. The home-cooked flavors were comforting and satisfying. Overall, the restaurant offered a taste of home that was perfect for a single diner like myself.

I often use Route 4, and I saw this shop and was about to enter, but the curtain was not out. Just when I thought it had closed for the year, I saw that it was open. I parked my car and went in. There were no rumors or anything around, so I had no prior knowledge. I ordered a ramen and fried rice set. The order was brought out from the kitchen shortly after. When I went, there was a woman working alone. Now, about the taste. The bean sprouts in the ramen were well sautéed. The soup was rich and Hokkaido-style. The noodles were firm.
