[Revisited in June 2013]
On the way to Cape Chikyu, I stopped by this place as it was open. I bought a cream puff for 190 yen, a chocolate cake for 280 yen, and a red cake for 360 yen (I remember the prices because I got a receipt). The cream puff had a hard shell, especially the lid on top was even harder, almost as hard as a soft biscuit. It was difficult to bite through in one go, so it seemed like the correct way to eat it was to remove the lid and use it as a spoon to scoop out the cream. As someone who prefers softer cream puffs, this type was not to my liking. However, the cream itself was very delicious. The red cake had a balance issue between the tart fruit and chocolate, and the layers seemed to have separated even though I ate it shortly after buying it. The chocolate cake, which I enjoyed last time, was a bit too soft this time and lacked the same deliciousness as before. Did they change the recipe? That's disappointing. So, this time the cakes were a bit off compared to last time, so I adjusted my rating. I rated the taste as 3.4 this time. The overall rating should maybe be the average of the two visits, but the impression of the most recent visit tends to be stronger. Therefore, I rated the taste as 3.5 and the overall rating as 3.4. I look forward to my next visit.
[Initial review in April 2013]
After visiting Mon Paris, I remembered this place and decided to go there. Last year, when I went around 3 pm on a Sunday, it was either closed due to being sold out, or temporarily closed. This time, around 10:20 am, it was open. The interior of the shop is modern and stylish. The illustrations on the walls have a nice sense of design. Since there were no other customers, I asked if I could take a photo of the cakes since I couldn't remember their names, but I was refused as photography was not allowed. So, I couldn't remember the names. I bought only two cakes after visiting another patisserie, and I regretted not buying more as they looked much more delicious here. The chocolate cake cost 270 yen and the pear mousse-like cake cost 380 yen. I also bought two sakura madeleines and almond cookies for 140 yen each. After paying, I received a teaspoon as a 1st-anniversary gift. All the cakes were very small for their price. The plate in the photo has a diameter of 14.8 cm. It seems like more and more patisseries are making smaller cakes nowadays. They look more delicious, and indeed, they were tasty. I love chocolate cake, but it's hard to find in the Date-Muroran area. Some chocolate cakes can be dry and cause throat irritation due to being too simple. However, the chocolate cake here had a crisp surface, a moist center, and a good balance of bittersweet chocolate flavor. It was a bit small for my liking (I could have eaten two), but it was delicious. The pear mousse-like cake was also very tasty. However, for its size, 380 yen felt a bit expensive, especially compared to the chocolate cake. I haven't tried the baked goods yet, so I won't make a definitive statement, but they might be the most delicious in the Date-Muroran area. I'd like to try other cakes as well. But I will definitely buy the chocolate cake again. I will visit again when I go to Ranshi next time.
