When staying in Sapporo on a business trip, one of the hotels I want to stay at is the Sapporo Grand Hotel. It seems to be popular among relatively high-quality international travelers, making it difficult to book. So whenever a reservation becomes available, I quickly grab it. It is a prestigious and traditional hotel. It is conveniently connected to Sapporo Station through a covered walkway, making it comfortable even in the harsh winter. The hospitality is outstanding from the moment you enter the main entrance. The breakfast is served at the Garden Dining, a restaurant where you can enjoy your meal while overlooking a beautifully maintained artificial garden. The restaurant has a sophisticated atmosphere with a long bar counter and several tables for two or four people. The black-themed decor creates an adult ambiance. You are led to your table by a staff member at the entrance, where you can pick up a newspaper and enjoy your breakfast alone. The Japanese set meal arrives in about seven to eight minutes. It is a pure Japanese set meal, with grilled salmon, thick rolled omelette, and rolled kelp on the plate. The simmered dishes include taro, carrots, radishes, and imitation crab. The vegetable salad comes with chilled tofu, potato salad, pickled vegetables, seasoned seaweed, rice, and miso soup with seaweed. The grilled salmon, seasoned with sweet salt, is cooked perfectly without burning. The simmered dishes have a thick texture with kelp stock. The taro, radish, and carrot are all soaked in the broth, but they are not too soft or too strong in flavor, allowing each vegetable to retain its taste. The entire meal is carefully prepared. Enjoy the rice with tofu, seasoned seaweed, and pickled vegetables. The rice is cooked to a soft, slightly sticky, and slightly sticky texture, with a good amount of stickiness and a delicious flavor. However, since all the dishes can be enjoyed even when cold, I wished the rice was a little hotter. After the meal, you can enjoy Sapporo Grand Hotel's special apple pie and hot coffee self-serve. Having cake in the morning may seem unusual, but as a pie lover, I always have to try it. The light scent of cinnamon and the subtly sweet apple are delicious. It's something I never do, but I consume sugar in the morning and head to work. My score is based on this apple pie. Being able to have a calm and quiet meal in the morning, with high hospitality, is highly appreciated. (King Nobu)
