I wandered around the Tonoda area in Kita Ward from the morning on my day off. I was excited to explore a place I rarely visit, but there weren't as many food and beverage establishments as I thought, especially on a Sunday morning. As I walked around looking at places like "Joyful AK" and "Ito Yokado," a few food and beverage shops started to open. I visited the "Curry World Tonoda" store. I think I came here many decades ago, probably when "Joyful AK" was first opened here. I don't remember what the curry was like back then at all. The entrance to the store has two doors, and between them, there is a ticket machine. As you may know, I am currently on a diet and have lost about 5-5.5 kg, but I am currently at a standstill. The food I least want to eat while dieting is curry and ramen. However, I need to gather content, and sometimes you have to prioritize convenience over diet. I was strategizing in front of the vending machine, thinking about getting a small portion of rice, but what caught my eye was the "Curry Udon @630." Both rice and udon are carbohydrates, so it probably doesn't make much of a difference, but for some reason, noodles seem to have fewer calories to me. The counter facing the kitchen and the counter facing the window have 23 seats. The counter is not very deep, and small chairs are lined up. Due to the pandemic, the seating distance seems narrow. There was one group of two customers in front of me, and I handed the food ticket to the staff and waited for 12 minutes. When the tray was brought to me, it had "Curry Udon, lotus root, napkin, chopsticks." The ingredients included shimeji mushrooms, pork, half a boiled egg, and chopped green onions. The curry had a mild taste with hints of saltiness, sourness, sweetness, spiciness, and richness. It was easy to eat, but something felt lacking. I sprinkled the "warning: very spicy" seasoning on top, and it turned out to be quite spicy. It wasn't unbearable, but people with low tolerance should be cautious. I also tried the "fukujinzuke" in front of me, just for fun. I managed to eat it without any problems, and it added a nice kick to the meal. I wonder if curry and curry udon have similar flavors. I'm curious. Next time, I'll try going for just curry. Thank you for the meal.
