Today, during the first week after the Obon holiday, I had trouble finding a place to eat. The first ramen shop I wanted to go to in Shin-Kotoni was closed for preparation even though it was before 10 am. The second place I tried to go to, a soba shop inside a supermarket in Tonden, was also closed until 12 pm due to inventory day. Feeling frustrated, I ended up going to a curry restaurant that I had been avoiding. The restaurant was open, and I ordered the "Vegetable Soup Curry" with extra rice. The total cost was 1080 yen plus 50 yen for the extra rice. The curry was spicier than I expected, and the portion size looked small at first but turned out to be quite filling. The flavor was a bit bland and lacked depth, but the abundance of vegetables was a plus. Overall, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly delicious either. I finished my meal quickly and left the restaurant.

I wandered around the Tonoda area in Kita Ward from the morning on my day off. I was excited to explore a place I rarely visit, but there weren't as many food and beverage establishments as I thought, especially on a Sunday morning. As I walked around looking at places like "Joyful AK" and "Ito Yokado," a few food and beverage shops started to open. I visited the "Curry World Tonoda" store. I think I came here many decades ago, probably when "Joyful AK" was first opened here. I don't remember what the curry was like back then at all. The entrance to the store has two doors, and between them, there is a ticket machine. As you may know, I am currently on a diet and have lost about 5-5.5 kg, but I am currently at a standstill. The food I least want to eat while dieting is curry and ramen. However, I need to gather content, and sometimes you have to prioritize convenience over diet. I was strategizing in front of the vending machine, thinking about getting a small portion of rice, but what caught my eye was the "Curry Udon @630." Both rice and udon are carbohydrates, so it probably doesn't make much of a difference, but for some reason, noodles seem to have fewer calories to me. The counter facing the kitchen and the counter facing the window have 23 seats. The counter is not very deep, and small chairs are lined up. Due to the pandemic, the seating distance seems narrow. There was one group of two customers in front of me, and I handed the food ticket to the staff and waited for 12 minutes. When the tray was brought to me, it had "Curry Udon, lotus root, napkin, chopsticks." The ingredients included shimeji mushrooms, pork, half a boiled egg, and chopped green onions. The curry had a mild taste with hints of saltiness, sourness, sweetness, spiciness, and richness. It was easy to eat, but something felt lacking. I sprinkled the "warning: very spicy" seasoning on top, and it turned out to be quite spicy. It wasn't unbearable, but people with low tolerance should be cautious. I also tried the "fukujinzuke" in front of me, just for fun. I managed to eat it without any problems, and it added a nice kick to the meal. I wonder if curry and curry udon have similar flavors. I'm curious. Next time, I'll try going for just curry. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Joyful to buy something. I had a meal here. It seems like I've been here before. I forgot what I ate last time, but I'll try something that seems like a safe choice. ★ Beef Curry: I wanted something simple, so I chose this, and it was pretty good! The rice and curry are both too hot, but it's okay. It would be better if they served it at just the right temperature. The food came out quickly, so maybe it wasn't microwaved? I won't pry. Thank you for the meal.

I went shopping at Joyful AK. Oh, come to think of it, my former boss works at Joyful AK. I wonder if they are working today? Anyway, I'll have some curry here. I was craving curry rice. I chose "Beef Curry" at the ticket machine and sat at the counter seat. You can increase the rice up to 250g at no extra charge. Oh, the curry roux is quite sweet. The beef is cut into chunks. Did the other ingredients melt away? It's like CoCo Ichibanya's curry roux. Well, hot roux and rice are always nice. My tongue might be in trouble. Hmm, it's within the acceptable range. This container for Fukujinzuke. It's divided inside, but both sides have the same Fukujinzuke, right? I see, it was originally a container for Fukujinzuke and rakkyo. Rakkyo is expensive, that's why. Oh, CoCo Ichibanya charges for rakkyo as a topping, right? Oh, come to think of it, I wrote in my review last time when I had the "Katsu Curry" that the curry was too sweet. I said I'll come back when I forget, didn't I? Well, I completely forgot about how sweet it was. Okay, I'll come back when I forget again and write "too sweet!" in my review.

I visited this restaurant while waiting for additional processing of materials purchased at Joyful AK. They offer a wide range of dishes, from roux curry to soup curry, and their specialty, soup curry ramen. I was a bit indecisive about what to order, but the displayed omu curry looked delicious, so I decided to go with that. You can choose the spiciness of the roux, so I went with spicy without hesitation. When I tried it, it was spicy but not too hot, so I adjusted the spiciness to my liking with the garam masala provided on the table. I think I'll try the soup curry next time.

I often come to Joyful Ake (JAK) for shopping. It might be a bit strange for people from the mainland, but it's like the Hokkaido version of Joyful Honda or Home Center Musashi. I needed to buy some things today, so I came to JAK and felt like eating curry here. Oh, is that a ticket machine? It was near the door, away from the main flow, so I didn't really notice it. Well, I'll go with the pork cutlet curry. You can choose the amount of rice from 100g to 250g in 50g increments, which is quite detailed. I'll go with the spicy curry, but what exactly is the level of spiciness for "medium spicy"? The spicy curry sauce is surprisingly sweet. I prefer curries with visible potatoes, carrots, and onions, but I can't see them in this one. The curry here is like that, so I was prepared for it. The pork cutlet is frozen, but I'm happy if it's freshly fried. I understand now why you can choose the rice amount. If you just ask for a regular portion, the balance with the sauce might be off and you end up with not enough rice. It's a service for repeat customers who have learned from their previous visits. I didn't find anything special here. The curry wasn't to my liking. You have to try it yourself to see if you like it. I'll come back here again when I least expect it.

Joyful AK, there are so many buildings here. Had a bit of trouble finding it until I arrived...^^; It's a prefab shop that looks like it's attached or not attached to the main building near the Lifestyle Hall. I wanted to eat soup curry but it's already snack time after 3 o'clock. Luckily, they serve food continuously here. It's a ticket machine. I had studied beforehand, so I ordered the Chicken Vegetable Soup Curry. It costs 1080 yen. You can choose the spiciness level after purchasing the ticket. I went for the maximum level, number 7, which is super spicy. You can choose between white rice or multi-grain rice for free. The portion size wasn't asked but you can get between 100 to 250 grams for free. No customers before or after me. It arrived in less than 10 minutes. The bowl was small considering the price. The soup had a gentle Japanese-style broth flavor. The spiciness was as expected, not too strong. The overall taste was okay, nothing outstanding. The chicken was boneless and about half the normal size. It was not seasoned and not particularly tender. The vegetables included carrots, cabbage, broccoli, lotus root, eggplant, shimeji mushrooms, potatoes, bell peppers, okra, and a pumpkin-like squash. The vegetables were overcooked overall. The cabbage with a strong black pepper flavor was the most delicious. Personally, I really liked the multi-grain rice. It was quite firm and complemented the soup curry well. There was a card with a promotion where you get 500 yen off after collecting 5 stamps. I also received a free drink or coffee ticket for my next visit. They have a variety of kids' curry, curry rice, and noodles on the menu. It's like a food court, so it's suitable for families, but the prices are a bit high considering the portion size. However, the soup curry ramen is cheaper and other noodle dishes are reasonably priced, so if you order those, the rating might be higher. Next time, I want to try a different menu item and enjoy the free coffee. Thank you for the meal. o_ _)o

I visited Curry World at the Joyful Ake store in the Kitaku Tonden area. I was tired of the food court at Ito Yokado and the rain had stopped, so I decided to check out the nearby Joyful Ake store. I found a soft serve ice cream shop and a curry shop! Since it was cold, I chose the curry shop. I ordered the Soup Curry Ramen from the big button at the top of the ticket machine for 680 yen. I waited for 12 minutes and 18 seconds. The soup curry ramen looked a bit lacking in richness. The soup had some spices but lacked the richness and brothiness of traditional soup curry. It tasted more like ramen soup, with a complex flavor. The noodles were thick and a bit chewy, which didn't seem to match well with the curry soup. The ingredients, like boiled potatoes and raw cabbage, seemed a bit lackluster. Overall, I think it was just okay. I should have gone for a regular curry instead. Thank you for the meal. Ramen review #134 in 2020.

Um, it's a curry restaurant inside a home center. Well, it's actually outside. They have something called om curry (which seems to be omurice curry) that's spicy (meaning it's a bit spicy). It costs ¥950. There aren't many customers, but the staff seem busy and attentive. The om curry is a bit messy - the ketchup rice is unevenly mixed with white and red, and the egg omelette has holes in it. However, the main curry itself is pretty delicious. You can see the effort and concept put into the curry's flavor since the restaurant opened. It's important for each branch to continue this effort or make improvements. Thank you for the meal.

Located in the Tonden area of Kita Ward, this curry restaurant is inside Joyful Ake. I visited for lunch while in the area for errands. The restaurant has table seating, but there are also plenty of counter seats, giving it a curry stand-like atmosphere. First, you purchase a meal ticket at the vending machine. The menu offers options like roux curry, soup curry, and curry-flavored noodles. I chose the "Chicken Vegetable Soup Curry (980 yen)" this time. You can choose the spiciness level from 7 options, and I went with "level 4, very spicy". For rice, you can choose between white rice or multigrain rice, and I chose white rice. It was ready in about 10 minutes. The soup, light and watery, had a mild flavor that seemed likely to appeal to many. The chicken was thigh meat, not leg, and there were a decent amount of ingredients, all cooked well. The spiciness was subtle, and I personally found the portion size a bit small, but it was still quite tasty. I noticed that many people around me were ordering roux curry, so that might be the better choice here.

I wanted to try the soft serve ice cream from Kurashima Milk, so I searched online and found out that I could eat it here. The shop is a curry restaurant, so it is filled with the smell of curry. I bought a food ticket at the vending machine and handed it to the staff at the counter. I tried the soft serve ice cream right away, and it was delicious with a crispy texture, refreshing sweetness, and a milky flavor. The best soft serve ice creams I have ever had were from Akaike Village's Yamanaka Farm, Ebetsu's Choson Farm, and Tsukisamu's Hakkoku Gakuen, with Yamanaka Farm's being my favorite. The one from Kurashima Milk was similar, maybe slightly sweeter. It was a very delicious soft serve ice cream. It was worth coming to Tonden. I want to come back again.

At Joyful AK, there is a soft serve ice cream stand. I had the Snow Mitsu Ichigo soft serve in a waffle cone, with strawberry soft serve and Snow Mitsu sprinkled on top. The strawberry soft serve was a lightly sweet and refreshing flavor. The Snow Mitsu was a bit hard to distinguish. The waffle cone was sweet but lacked enough crunch. The cost performance wasn't the best. I also wanted to try the soft serve from Kurashima for 320 yen, but I went with the strawberry today. There were cute illustrations on the wall next to the stand, so I took a picture! Does it look Instagram-worthy?

After work, I stopped by Joyful Ake to visit the soft serve ice cream stand. I used to visit it a few times before, but haven't been there recently, so I thought I'd drop by. Although it's called a soft serve ice cream stand, I found out from their website that it's actually part of the Curry World within Joyful Ake. This time, I planned to have some soft serve ice cream, but then I spotted a sign advertising a special product called "Snow Strawberry". I decided to try it out. When I ordered it from the staff and waited, I saw them pouring what seemed like honey over the strawberry soft serve. When I received it, I couldn't tell if the honey-like substance was transparent or not, but I decided to give it a try. The strawberry soft serve itself had more sweetness than acidity, and the "snow honey" seemed to be a mixture of whey, sugar, and lemon juice, giving it a gentle sweetness. It was delicious and I didn't think it was bad, but at 450 yen per serving, it was a bit pricey. The soft serve portion wasn't that large either, so I'm not sure if I would buy it again for that price. Thank you for the meal.

I visited for lunch. It's a curry restaurant located inside Joyful AK. I haven't been able to come here because the timing never worked out, but I finally made it! I ordered the "Katsu Curry." The katsu was small but crispy and delicious. The curry sauce was also tasty! They also had soup curry, so I'd like to come back to try it next time! Thank you for the meal٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

Since starting using Tabelog, this was my first visit to this restaurant. Located inside the Joyful Ake Tenma store, there is no problem with parking. You can enter directly from outside or from inside Joyful. Most of the seats seemed to be counter seats...? When I went on a Sunday afternoon, it was quite crowded with people. I usually go around 2pm on weekdays, so it was my first time seeing it this busy. I ordered the beef curry and curry oil soba. The beef curry doesn't taste much like curry, with small pieces of meat and onions. The oil soba is usually served with vinegar and chili oil, but neither were included. It has a curry flavor, but it's not very strong. Both dishes were reasonably priced. It's a place to quickly have a meal and go. If you order a curry or a meal item, you get a drink service ticket for your next visit. I used the ticket from my last visit to get an iced coffee. It was a satisfying meal.

I visited a curry restaurant located in the Joyful Ake store in August 2017. They had a vending machine at the entrance, and I bought the chicken soup curry. The restaurant had counter seats and table seats. The staff asked me to choose the level of spiciness, and I chose the spiciest level, which was number 7. The rice options were white rice or five-grain rice, and I chose the five-grain rice. It took about 5 minutes from ordering to serving. The soup was light and had a subtle sour aftertaste, which I liked. However, I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't piping hot. The spiciness was not enough for me, and even the additional spicy spice on the table was not very spicy. The vegetables included potatoes, carrots, and bell peppers, and they were cooked well and balanced. I prefer this type of curry with fewer ingredients. The soft-boiled egg was delicious. The chicken was made with thigh meat and was tasty without any unpleasant parts. The five-grain rice was a bit soft. The restaurant had a separate atmosphere even though it was located within the Joyful Ake premises, and I left satisfied with the curry. Thank you for the meal. ✿ฺ(๑´ڡ`๑)✿ฺ.
