This is a muffin shop located deep in Makarimura. As the name suggests, there are actually donkeys outside. The muffins are plentiful and boldly made, just like you often see in America. They are not only cute to look at, but also very delicious. However, the shop has limited opening days and is far away, which makes me want to go back even more.笑

Ishikawa Ranch has a muffin shop on its premises that is operated directly by the ranch. It is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:30 am to 5 pm, but it often sells out and closes early in the afternoon due to its popularity. The shop is located next to a cute little store where two donkeys and one horse peacefully graze on grass. There is also a small goat hiding under a beach umbrella. I visited the shop around 11:30 am and there were a total of 17 different muffin flavors available. The muffins are made using rich Jersey cow milk from Ishikawa Ranch and Hokkaido wheat flour. I had a hard time choosing, but ended up getting four flavors: Caramel Banana, Hojicha, Chocolate Chip, and Strawberry Custard. The Caramel Banana muffin had a subtle caramel and banana flavor, while the Hojicha muffin did not have a strong hojicha taste. The Cheese Cream inside was delicious though. The Chocolate Chip muffin had a fluffy texture and a good taste despite the few chocolate chips. The Strawberry Custard muffin had a light custard flavor and a nice combination of tangy strawberries and crispy waffle sugar. Overall, these muffins were delicious and paired well with tea. Thank you, "Roba"!

At the foot of Mt. Yotei in May 2019, there is a handmade muffin shop called "Makkari Village" run by a ranch. The shop has a high hurdle as it is only open about 10-15 days a month, and sometimes sells out in just an hour. Check their Facebook for closure information. The small shop only allows one group at a time and is often sold out within 15 minutes of opening. Despite being in a hard-to-find location, it is quite popular. They use milk from their own Jersey cows to make muffins. The strawberry custard muffin costs 330 yen and has a subtle strawberry flavor without being overpowering. The texture is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The nut muffin costs 300 yen and remains moist even after two days. It is packed with nuts and delicious. Thank you for the meal!

After buying bread, I headed to "Robao no Muffin". There was also a line here, and on the opposite side of the strange angled road, there were horses. The shop was small, so only 2-3 people could enter at a time. Inside the shop, there were many delicious-looking muffins. I ended up buying a lot. I tried the "Cafe Oleo Oleo" muffin, which had an Oreo cookie on top. It was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, with a perfect balance of sweetness and coffee bitterness, and cream inside. I also tried the "Tiramisu-style" muffin, which had coffee cream inside, and the "Apple Custard" muffin, with cinnamon-flavored soft cooked apples and custard cream. I also bought the "Chocolate-packed" muffin, which had chocolate chunks on top and peanut chocolate cream and chocolate chips inside. My husband tried the "Blueberry Custard" and "Raspberry Cream". I really liked the muffins here. They also offer delivery, so I might order some more in the future.

I found a sign for a muffin shop and was skeptical if it really existed. However, I discovered a cute and charming shop inside with a variety of adorable muffins on display. I chose the Raspberry Cream muffin, which had a nice balance of tartness from the raspberries and richness from the cream cheese. It was a satisfying treat!

I finally visited Donkey Muffin, as I had been wanting to go for a long time! Although it was supposed to open at 11:30, when I arrived at 11:30, there were already many customers there! There were cute donkeys grazing in front of the shop, so it was lucky to see them!! It got me really excited (lol). There are many varieties of muffins to choose from, so it's fun to pick. I bought a few and today I had a matcha muffin. It was big, not too sweet, and very delicious^ ^ I thought it might be too big, but I finished it in no time (lol). It's not easy to go all the way to Makari Village, but I would like to visit again to enjoy the delicious muffins and to meet the lovely shop owner and donkeys!!

I learned about this shop on Instagram. It's great that they post updates on how many items are left or if they are sold out. I visited on a Monday when they opened. As soon as I opened the door, I saw the showcase right in front of me. I had to squat down to decide which one to choose. The next customer came in and quickly placed an order - matcha and fig. The matcha flavor was strong but not overpowering, with a sweetness that even kids would enjoy. There was another option with fig as well. The chocolate nut muffin was surprisingly good even for someone who doesn't like chocolate. It was luxurious with plenty of nuts. The raspberry cream cheese muffin with a plain type was made with homemade milk, making it incredibly rich and delicious. The shop had two horses and a donkey outside. They were eating quietly, which was amusing. I'm not good at describing flavors, but I must say that the muffin dough was incredibly delicious. I initially thought that 300 yen for a muffin was expensive, and I didn't have high expectations for the taste, but the muffins completely exceeded my expectations. The flavors like matcha and chocolate were well-balanced, and the dough was just perfect. It was really delicious. Thank you for the meal.
