This time, I decided to visit the "Hokkaido Naming Place" in Otofuke, as it marks the 150th anniversary of Hokkaido. I was curious as to why the Edo-Meiji adventurer, Matsura Buzen-no-kami, named it "Hokkaido" by the Teshio River. I wondered if I could feel that atmosphere by visiting this place. I couldn't decide whether to go on my beloved horse, but due to the forecast of rain from a typhoon, I ended up taking my trusty Acty. If I was going with Acty, I should have stayed at a ryokan. I found Yui no Mori when looking for a place to stay. It is a lodging facility that opened just last November in Shimokawa-cho. The bus terminal across the street used to be a train station. Shimokawa-cho is the hometown of "Legend Kashio". I wonder if the town is more lively than when Risako Takanashi from Kamikawa-cho was there. Yui no Mori offers free breakfast, which includes bread from "Yanai Kashipo" located in the town center. Maybe I should post a review on "Yanai Kashipo", but I want to evaluate this accommodation, so I created a new review. The lodging facility is comfortable. Even the single rooms have semi-double beds, so you can sleep comfortably. It's nice that the rooms are on the first floor. Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 9:00. An older lady at the counter will give you a plate with three pieces of bread from "Yanai Kashipo". She recommends warming them up a bit. There are two toaster ovens next to the counter. The drinks available are coffee, milk, and tomato juice. The tomato juice is said to be made with care by farmers in Shimokawa, and it has a smooth and delicious taste. The bread is from "Yanai Kashipo", but with the kind service of the lady and the tasty tomato juice, I would rate it highly. I would like to come back again.
