On March 4th, I went snowboarding for the first time in about 20 years at Sapporo International Ski Resort with reviewer HIRO. In my younger days, I was really into straight jumps and backcountry snowboarding on Mt. Yotei, but now that I've turned 50, I wondered if I could still do it. Of course, things have changed slightly, with equipment and trends in gear evolving, and even lift tickets becoming touch-sensitive. After riding the gondola and taking three runs, I started to feel cold and decided it was ramen time. - Shoyu Ramen: 980 yen For some reason, there are shaved corn kernels in it... maybe for tourists? However, I appreciate that it's not just plain canned corn. The ramen has a typical commercial-style soup, safe and not too oily, but it's not exceptional. It's decent, but nothing more. The noodles are typical wavy noodles from Nishiyama, firm and chewy... I personally would prefer them a bit softer. While the ski resort ramen wasn't bad, a miso ramen might have been more warming in the cold ski resort. As for snowboarding, I was able to ride somewhat carefully, recalling the old feeling, and took a few more runs in the afternoon... but it was just okay. I didn't get as tired as I imagined, but my knees couldn't handle it towards the end... I need a few more practice sessions. What I felt was that the resort lunch has evolved in content compared to the old days... that's the impression.

The last time I went skiing was back in high school... I was dragged along by my daughters to Sapporo International Ski Resort, which we visit every year. Two years ago, there was a fierce blizzard that caused the resort to close multiple times and even the highways to shut down, but this year everything was fine. The ramen shop here serves delicious Hokkaido ramen. It's the kind of ramen you would find in Ramen Alley, with curly noodles and corn. My kids always go for the miso butter corn ramen like typical tourists. I prefer to enjoy mine with a beer in hand, either with salt or miso. I give it a rating of 3.5 stars, including post-exercise. Highly recommended for students on school trips and tourists.

Located in Minami-ku, Sapporo, this restaurant at Sapporo International Ski Resort is known for its delicious meals. The restaurant on the second floor is famous for its international curry ramen, but it is also the only ramen specialty shop in the area. The miso ramen with Hokkaido-style corn and butter is perfect for warming up your body in the freezing cold of Sapporo and giving you energy for the afternoon.

I visited the restaurant "Aul" after returning from Asahidake. I enjoyed the hoarfrost and diamond dust in the silver world at around -15 degrees, and after backcountry skiing, I had to have spicy miso ramen. Although it's a shop inside the ski resort lodge, "Aul" is known for serving authentic Sapporo ramen. It's a must-visit place. As I descended, it was past the peak lunch hour, and the ski resort was gradually getting busier. Everyone seemed to be having fun with the last bit of winter mountain activities in the north. Upon entering the lodge and looking for the restaurant, I found the ramen shop on the first floor. It was a calm time to visit, with a few customers already there. Today's order: - Spicy Miso Ramen: 1050 yen The shop is only open during the season, and with the ongoing situation with COVID-19, the price doesn't matter as long as the food is delicious and fills your hungry stomach. People don't usually come all the way here just to eat ramen. So, don't go just to say you did. Make sure to work up an appetite through some exercise before eating. Don't complain about slow service if you go during peak hours. It's natural for it to be slow when it's crowded. The previous customers had been served, and my bowl arrived in about 3 minutes. Lucky me. The ramen had a visually appealing presentation with a red thread of chili pepper on top. The hot and rich Sapporo miso ramen soup was delicious. The spiciness wasn't too strong, making it suitable for most people, even those who don't usually prefer spicy food. Personally, I didn't feel like I needed to add extra chili pepper. The shop was a bit chilly due to the open door for ventilation, but as I ate, I started feeling warm. The rich miso flavor made it a hot dish. If I had sat closer to the heater, I would have been sweating. The noodles were classic medium-thick curly noodles that went well with the rich miso soup and chili pepper. The chashu pork was lightly seasoned, with a good meaty texture. The standout feature was the generous toppings. There was plenty of dried seaweed, corn as a default topping, green onions, crunchy bean sprouts, and a mild-flavored bamboo shoot. It also had pickled mustard greens and wood ear mushrooms. The variety of healthy toppings felt like a replenishment of minerals and vitamins for the body after exercise. I appreciated the originality of this aspect. With so many toppings included by default and a sufficient amount of volume, I couldn't argue about the cost-effectiveness compared to specialty shops open year-round in town. A hot bowl for a cold body, healthy toppings for a tired body, and a moderately spicy miso ramen - this will likely be a place I'll visit often during winter. Families were having a discussion at the entrance about what to order, and I'll also think about it next time. After a day of snow activities, ending with ramen, it was a delicious meal. Thank you for the meal.

On the 9th day of September 2019, I had a day off and went for my first snowboarding session at Sapporo International Ski Resort. For lunch, I went to a restaurant called "Aul" located within the ski resort. I arrived around 12 o'clock and the place was bustling with students learning to ski. I ordered a salt ramen ticket and waited for about 20-30 minutes. The ramen arrived in a classic clear soup with a perfect balance of saltiness, topped with medium-thick curly noodles from Nishiyama Ramen. The toppings included chashu pork, wood ear mushrooms, onions, komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach), bean sprouts, and corn. The price was 900 yen per bowl, in line with ski resort prices, but this ramen was different from the typical cafeteria-style ramen you would find at ski lodges.

I had soy sauce ramen at a ramen shop inside the international ski resort. The taste is old-fashioned. It includes light flavor bean sprouts, corn, wood ear mushrooms, and green onions. Costs 880 yen.

I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen (980 yen) at Sapporo International Ski Resort [Aul] in Jozankei, Minami-ku, Sapporo using the ticket machine. It's Sunday at 11:00, but there are no customers. The ski resort is empty. I ski down the fairytale course. The Spicy Miso Ramen is expensive, typical of ski resort prices. It arrives soon. It has plenty of dried seaweed. It's not very spicy, even kids could eat it. I was hungry, so I enjoyed eating it. I didn't improve my skiing skills, but I had fun skiing. It's already spring. It's a new school year.

◼️ On a surprisingly calm Sunday with beautiful weather at the beginning of February, I visited the "Sapporo International Ski Resort" today. The main purpose, of course, is to have ramen (laughs). This ski resort is developed and operated by the Sapporo Resort Development Corporation. It has a vertical drop of 470m, 7 courses, a course area of 65ha, a maximum ski distance of 3,600m, and a maximum slope of 30 degrees. It seems to be a ski resort enjoyed by beginners to advanced skiers, with many repeat visitors. ▼ Around 3:30 in the afternoon, the place was empty as I entered... "..." There were no other customers at this time, so it was no surprise. I was asked by the owner to buy a meal ticket first. This restaurant operates on a ticket system (the ticket machine is on the left wall after entering). ▼ The interior of the restaurant has a large glass window overlooking the ski slopes. You can enjoy your meal while looking at the outside view if you sit at a table (although most seats are at the counter). ▷ I ordered the "Shoyu Ramen" and "Fried Rice" set. Since I had no prior information and the prices were high, I struggled a bit with the menu selection... The wait time was about 10 minutes. First, I took a sip of the soup... Mmm... Not bad as I expected (laughs). The soup is made with a blend of pork and chicken bones (Tonchi-Kotsu), simmered slowly, and it has a nice balance of flavors. It also seems to contain umami seasoning from kombu and shiitake. Next, I tried the noodles... Slurp... Oh... Surprisingly, they were medium wavy noodles. They were cooked al dente with just the right amount of water, which is my preference. The expected chashu was thinly sliced and resembled roast pork... It suddenly hit me that it tasted like a cup ramen, particularly "Nissin Cup Noodles." The familiar taste of the soup and chashu reminded me of that. Of course, this is a positive comparison (laughs). So, is the 880 yen bowl of ramen worth it? Well, in a ski resort surrounded by white snow, it's understandable to have premium prices, right? It's all part of the adult world... It was a decent bowl overall at "Honkaku Ramen Kitchen Owl." If they could enhance the umami seasoning a bit more, it would create a more sophisticated taste. By the way, the name "Owl" in the restaurant's name means "fukurou" (owl), but their operating hours are from 11 am to 4:30 pm, so it seems that the owl at the international ski resort is not nocturnal. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ◉ We're down to just "one more" ramen shop to conquer in Minami Ward. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * 〜Afterword〜 With just one more bowl of ramen, when I conquer that one ramen shop, my wish will come true. I believe in that moment, so don't give up, keep believing. No matter how many times, I will extend my hands to that ramen shop ♪
