This is a long-established butcher shop in Morimachi that has been in business for over 50 years. I heard that their seasoned Jingisukan (grilled lamb) is delicious, so I decided to stop by. It is located along the street heading towards Rumoi, next to the famous "Kabochan Honpo" known for their cheese bokko. The shop is small, selling not only meat but also vegetables, fruits, and seasonings. There is only one staff member, a mother, who told me that they used to run a pachinko parlor before becoming a butcher. I purchased 300g of seasoned Jingisukan (¥240 per 100g) and 300g of raw lamb (¥280 per 100g). I wanted to buy beef sagari as well, but it had significantly increased in price, so I decided against it. Two years ago, it was ¥540 per 100g, but now it is ¥980 per 100g. The Jingisukan is made from carefully selected premium lamb from New Zealand marinated in a special sauce and cut thick. When I cooked it at home, the flavor was already infused, so no additional seasoning was necessary. The raw lamb had no unpleasant odor and was very delicious.

I didn't expect to find Masaoka Masaka registered, truly the emperor of Okhotsk. I came to Saroma on a weekday, which is rare for me. I wanted to buy a pumpkin pie, but they were closed for renovations. They mentioned that YOSHINO Shoten might have it, but it's a local place that not everyone knows. There's also a butcher next door, which I didn't know about. It's a bit hard to notice the store, but what stands out first is that they accept PayPay and other electronic money. I often mention PayPay, not to boast, but because it's the only one I can use. Be careful though, as I've heard that personal bankruptcies are increasing due to excessive use of electronic money. When I entered the store, it didn't look like a typical butcher, but there was a display case with meat inside. I asked if they had "seseri," but they didn't. I ended up buying 500g of raw lamb for 990 yen. When I got home, I realized I still had 600g of lamb left from before. I wonder what my wife will say. Anyway, I cooked and ate it. It required some chewing due to the tendons, but it wasn't tough. It didn't have a strong flavor despite being marinated. It was subtly seasoned with hints of ginger and fruit. Overall, it was decent, and I hope the old man at the store keeps up the good work!

This is a butcher shop in Saroma Town. It is located next to Kabochan Honpo. They are popular for their Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) and it is also available as a gift for hometown tax payments. You can also buy it at the Saroma Michi-no-Eki (roadside station) without having to go to Saroma Town. I will try it at home right away. The meat is very thick, like a pork shoulder. The sauce is strong, with a lot of garlic flavor. It's not too sweet and I like the taste. The meat is thick but tender and delicious. I didn't know there was such a delicious shop in Saroma. I will buy it again if I pass by.
