First experience. It had a light taste and since it was a cold day, I ended up drinking the broth. It was nice that it was piping hot, but I was disappointed that the egg was hard-boiled. I wish the green onions were cooked a little more. Maybe that's the difference between udon and soba. However, I was happy that there was grilled mochi in it. The curry soba was lighter than any other soba shop. It was more like curry-flavored soba than curry soba. At first, it felt a bit lacking, but by the end, I was satisfied with the curry soba as I finished every last drop of the broth.

I tried a new menu this time and was a bit worried about the oil content, but it turned out to be a great choice. The cold duck nanban was perfect for a hot day, with cold broth and no greasiness. The slightly thick noodles paired well with the dish. Another unique menu item was the zaru soba with grated yam, which was a pleasant surprise. These two dishes were perfect for the summer.

I had never been there before, even though it has been around for a long time. It's a mysterious soba restaurant that also sells sweets like monaka. The soba noodles are slightly thicker and have a mild flavor, making it a pleasantly normal soba restaurant. The menu is very typical of a soba restaurant with no fancy dishes, but the broth is delicious and you can tell they put care into their work. I'll definitely go back again.

The restaurant was opened shortly after the start of the Heisei era... It has been about 30 years since then. I visited this place, which I used to frequent, for the first time in about 10 years. The counter is beautiful! I sat in the middle and whispered to the landlady, "Mori soba, please!" Just then, the master appeared, looking sharp and stylish! The soba was slightly warm but still delicious. Mori soba for 600 yen. Thank you for the meal! (^^)v

Located at the eastern entrance of Muroran City, in Hinodecho, is a hand-made soba restaurant. In front of the store, there is a glass showcase where traditional Japanese sweets are sold, making it unclear whether soba or sweets are the main focus of the restaurant. I visited this restaurant for a work lunch many years before I started using Tabelog, so it has been about 14 years since my last visit. The interior of the restaurant is spacious, with counter seats, table seats, and even raised tatami seating. The menu covers the basics, and it seems they also serve udon. The "mori" soba costs 600 yen. The soba noodles are hand-made, medium-thin and slightly flat, with a good texture and water content. The flavor is not very strong, perhaps due to the season, with a slightly sweet taste. The dipping sauce is on the saltier side, with a strong umami flavor that can be overwhelming if you dip the soba too much. The dashi flavor is somewhat hidden behind the strong umami taste of the sauce, but becomes more noticeable when mixed with the clear hot water from the kettle. The condiments are average. While the soba itself didn't stand out this time, one notable aspect is the cleanliness of the restaurant. The owner's white coat is crisp and clean, the floor is tidy, and even the restroom is spotless. In a well-maintained restaurant like this, the food seems to taste even better.

Located along the national highway in Hinode-cho, I walked through the noren curtain and entered a traditional Japanese-style interior. I heard that this place used to be a Japanese confectionery shop before becoming a soba restaurant, which explains their skillful handling of soba flour. I ordered a warm tempura soba, and when it arrived, the soba noodles were in a slightly larger bowl with crispy tempura on top, looking delicious. The shrimp tempura was also tasty. The soba noodles had a good texture, and I was satisfied. The dipping sauce was flavorful, and I drank it all up. They also sold Japanese sweets by the register, which seemed to be popular. The restaurant seemed spacious enough for a large family to dine comfortably. I would like to try their tempura steamed soba next time.

March 2011 revisit. Added 6 more photos, including a frog-shaped cake that was blurry last time. The frog-shaped cake is sweet with red bean paste, but it is filled after ordering, so the cake is not damp and delicious. The bean daifuku is still sweet, and the beans may lack a bit of flavor. If you're going to buy, the salt daifuku is recommended for its mild sweetness. However, the fact that each cake has a different type of bean paste shows the owner's dedication as a confectioner. This time, I also tried the soba, which was okay. But I was really happy when I sat down and got a complimentary tea and one daifuku (only on Mondays and Thursdays?). Previous article: I had been curious about this shop for a while. I happened to pass by on a weekday and decided to stop by. Frog-shaped cake... I had it fresh, so the cake was crispy and delicious. The red bean paste was rich and sweet. There was mochi inside, giving it a satisfying texture. Salt daifuku... The red bean paste had lightly crushed azuki beans mixed in. The paste had a slightly strong saltiness, which balanced out the sweetness nicely. The mochi was quite soft, and even though the daifuku was small, there was a sense of satisfaction after finishing it. Bean daifuku... The paste inside was smoother, with a milder saltiness compared to the salt daifuku. The sweetness was quite strong. The beans were green peas. The mochi was similar to the salt daifuku. The prices were 136 yen for one frog-shaped cake, and 630 yen for a pack of 6 daifuku. It was a shame I couldn't try the soba because it was too early in the morning. I'd like to challenge it next time.

The owner of the restaurant was originally a traditional Japanese sweets craftsman, and the shop is a bit unique as it sells both soba noodles and traditional Japanese sweets in a corner. The menu states that they use soba from Kibetsu, ground with a stone mill and made with a 70% buckwheat and 30% wheat blend, but it is uncertain if they use Kibetsu soba all year round. I tried the "Mini Tempura Set" for 700 yen, which includes a mini tempura bowl and mini soba noodles. The soba noodles were served warm and were of a medium thickness, nothing special. The mini tempura bowl was a bit disappointing as it only had one shrimp tempura, making it feel a bit lacking. I think it would be better if they added some seaweed and shishito peppers for an extra 100 yen to make it look more attractive and have a bigger portion. The restaurant is spacious and the service by the staff (the owner's daughter) was decent, but overall, I didn't feel compelled to revisit actively. However, the pricing is reasonable, especially the "morisoba" and "kakesoba" which are both priced at 600 yen and offer good value. As for the traditional Japanese sweets, items like daifuku seem to be popular, but they don't make a lot, so it's best to reserve in advance.

I visited the restaurant on Saturday at lunchtime. It wasn't too crowded and I was able to sit at a raised tatami seating area. However, it took about 30 minutes for the food we ordered to arrive, even though the restaurant is quite spacious. I had the tempura soba, which was honestly average. This restaurant also sells traditional Japanese sweets. I received some of their sweets from an acquaintance before, and they were really delicious. It seems like the sweets are more popular than the soba here. The restaurant offers different Japanese sweets daily.

It was being sold at the Muroran Friendship Festival. I had planned to stop by here when I visited Kusataro before, but it was closed. I had been curious about the frog-shaped snacks for a while. I bought it on a whim. It costs 140 yen each. You can see a cute frog underneath the transparent bag. It may have been jostled around in the eco bag, but when I got home, I was relieved to see that it was still in its cute shape. The ingredients listed were mochi skin, red bean paste, sugar, corn syrup, and cowhide powder, so only the cowhide seems to be handmade. However, the front and back of the frog skin look nice, and the mochi itself is quite delicious.
