I went to this store the other day, but even though it was within the business hours, it was closed! Later, I got caught in a sudden heavy rain without an umbrella. Today, they are open, but it seems like they haven't made many cakes? I arrived at the store before 5 pm, and they said the Shortcake is currently being made and will be ready in an hour, even though the store closes at 6 pm? Do they make cakes today to sell tomorrow? I bought a Mont Blanc for 400 yen, a Cassis Dijon for 400 yen, and a strawberry roll cake for 300 yen. It feels like all the prices have increased by about 100 yen compared to before. Well, it can't be helped! The Mont Blanc is delicious with a base of Japanese chestnuts. The almond on the outside is fragrant and goes well with the Mont Blanc paste. It said it uses domestically produced Japanese chestnuts from Tanba. The strawberry roll cake is ordinary, neither good nor bad. It's orthodox and there's nothing to complain about. The Cassis Dijon is amazing... It uses cassis from Kitami! What's cassis? The essence of this shop's cakes lies in these fruit-based cakes. The cassis part is like a jelly, so intense and sweet! Have you ever eaten cassis with such large grains? It's sweet every time you eat a grain! And it's on a chocolate sponge, not a regular sponge, but a chocolate sponge with cocoa flavor. This combination must be the right one. It's not trendy or modern, it's a cake from the Showa era. Maybe that's what makes it good.

Corona is so crazy that I have to work from home! Will that change anything for me? Not really~! But if I can get paid just by staying at home, that's fine, right? After work hours, I went out for a walk to buy some snacks for tomorrow! I arrived at this place. Last time I came, except for the banana cake called "Banane," it wasn't that bad, so I decided to buy a few more and have a solo cake buffet. 4 pieces for 1300 yen exactly. Is that normal? Cheap? First, there's this strawberry jelly-like thing? It's so sweet~ too sweet. Is there strawberry jam on top? It's so sweet that it makes me wonder. Normally, for this kind of thing, you would expect a refreshing sweetness and sourness, right? This one has the sweetness level of strawberry jam. Next is the apple pie-like one with a pink part in the middle? I tried it... Oh... the texture is not good. Aren't you looking for a sweet and sour taste with a moderate texture for this apple preserve part? But it's mushy, mothy, and is it because of the apple skin that it's pink? Strawberry chocolate cake Finally, a normal chocolate cake with strawberries on top? Matcha Mont Blanc This one, well, feels normal? But the cream is too hard, isn't it? The Mont Blanc mixed cream is too hard, crumbling apart? The matcha flavor is too strong, so it doesn't really feel like a Mont Blanc? There were half-cut chestnuts inside, but overall, it's normal? Throughout, this time... umm? It's a bit meh?

It's not about the building, okay? Even when it comes to cakes, I think the main focus is on very traditional styles. For example, the Shortcake for 300 yen is extremely traditional, with a good-sized strawberry on top and slices of strawberry inside, all on a moist sponge that tastes delicious. The Mont Blanc for 350 yen is a bit more unique, using Japanese chestnuts and including candied chestnuts, creating a tasty combination of cream made from fresh cream and chestnut paste, with a hint of almond around the edges. Some may find the almond flavor distracting, but I personally think it's delicious. The Chocolate Banana for 300 yen is where things get really interesting. The topping alone is amazing. It seems to be something flavored with liquor and slightly dried on the surface. Apricot? Banana? The mysterious flavor that spreads in your mouth... this is something else. The liquor taste is definitely not for kids. The chocolate-flavored sponge inside is normal. The soft substance made from bananas cooked in liquor and flavored separately from the topping. This liquor flavor that spreads in your mouth is unique. Hmm... what is this? It might be more universally appealing with fresh bananas, but the decision to flavor it with liquor in this traditional Western pastry technique shows the strong determination of the shop owner. I think this is a cake for adults only. I won't buy it again, but I'm curious to see the reactions of others who try it. The Cream Puff for 200 yen... well, this one might not be good. The choux pastry is too soft and moist, and the cream inside is a combination of fresh cream and custard cream, but the texture makes it difficult to eat. The fresh cream is normal, while the custard cream has a strong eggy taste like pudding. There are cream puffs with only custard cream available too, which might have a stronger impact for custard cream lovers. There are some pretty unique cakes here, so it might take a few visits to decide what you like. Overall, it all feels nostalgic. The building and the cakes alike.

The apple tart is heavy and dense, making you close your eyes when you take a bite. It's delicious and rich. I asked if I could buy a whole tart with a reservation, but they said they are not selling until the apple harvest in October. The apple pie is also delicious. The strawberry cake has a baked goods-like texture and is quite heavy. It was delicious. I don't recommend the baked cheesecake, but the fruit-filled ones are recommended. It's delicious, so definitely try it out.

There is no photo of the cake,,, where did it go??? Did someone eat it??? I am in Kitami, alone. I had some delicious soba before heading back. On my way back, I decided to stop by a store listed in my notes. I asked the navigation system to take me there. When I arrived, I was surprised to find a store like this in such a place. It's a confectionery called "Fukucha." The exterior is quite subtle. When I entered, a chef hat-wearing old man came out. He was wearing an orange shirt and looked quite stylish. However, the atmosphere inside the store was a bit eerie. I played it safe and ordered a "cream puff" and a "custard cream puff." I almost got injured, but managed to stop just in time. What an interesting exterior design. It would be nice if the interior had a bit more cleanliness. I ended up eating the cream puffs the next day. Perhaps that's why the dough was a bit dry. Maybe it was my fault. The custard had a slight salty taste, but was rich and creamy with a slightly firm texture. The whipped cream was made only with milk, without any eggs. It was also delicious.

I was curious about this place. I used to go to the ramen restaurant "Kanemori" before and when I saw Ken's review saying "I've seen a suspicious building near Kanemori!" I realized it was here. For my husband's birthday, we decided to try this suspicious cake shop, even though it was a bit sketchy. The exterior looked suspicious, but inside they were playing jazz music. The owner, who was wearing a chef's coat and chef's hat, came out from the back. The shop had a limited selection of pastries, mostly around 250 yen each. We bought some pastries to try at home and they were delicious. The strawberry and chocolate pastry was a perfect match of sweet and sour flavors, the shortcake had a unique sponge that tasted like banana, and the cherry pie was surprisingly good despite its dark appearance. Overall, even though the exterior was suspicious, the pastries were delicious and worth a repeat visit.

The cakes are light and delicious (*^_^*) The cream is not too sweet, which is my favorite taste. Whenever I go back to Kitami, I always buy strawberry cake, madeleines, and lemon cake. It's a cake shop with a 40-year history. Please try it out! They also draw birthday cakes for you. When my son was young, Pokémon was popular, so they drew Pikachu on the cake (*^_^*)

I felt that there were many cakes with a strong commitment, meticulously and seriously crafted. The sponge was moist and the texture was fine and elegant. It seems like they focus more on traditional basic cakes rather than modern ones. When I visited at 3 p.m., some items were already sold out, so next time I want to come earlier!

◆May 2014◆ I received a request from a friend to check out a cake shop that caught their interest, so I visited the place. The location was said to be a little towards Hanano from the Shunko Co-op. Although I had passed by that area many times, I wasn't sure if there was such a shop there. As I drove, I spotted a triangular roof with a sign that read "Okashi no Ie Fukucha." The aged exterior didn't look like a typical sweets shop, so I hesitated and almost drove past it. After reading other people's blogs, I learned that it was an old established shop loved by the local community, so I decided to give it another try. The inside of the shop looked like a regular cake shop. Although they didn't have a cafe open that day, I found out that you can eat the cakes you buy inside. It was interesting to see the cakes wrapped in plastic. [Cakes Purchased] - Strawberry Chocolate Jelly: Layers of mousse, sponge, and tangy strawberries made for a refreshing treat. - Baked Cheesecake: Dense and substantial, but not too heavy, with a hint of acidity. - Mont Blanc: You could tell they put effort into this one. The chestnuts were delicious. - Cream Puff (Custard & Fresh Cream): The pastry had a unique taste, and the cream was a mix of custard and fresh cream. After reporting back to my friend, the mission for the day was complete.
