《March 2023 First Visit》In the roadside shopping area in the golden area of Ebetsu City, there is a specialty fried chicken shop, I think it was called "Across Plaza"? It is located on the south side of a corner in that area. They offer both eat-in and take-out options, but they seem to focus more on take-out. The main item on the eat-in menu is the "Original Teishoku", which is a 390 yen "Teishoku Set" that comes with your choice of fried chicken in any quantity. The Teishoku Set includes rice, miso soup, and a half-cooked egg called "King Egg" with mayonnaise used for seasoning. The order slip also lists "Salad", which is actually shredded cabbage on the fried chicken plate, but calling it a "salad" is a bit questionable. You can choose from small, medium, large, or king sizes for the rice at the same price, and this time I chose a medium size. By the way, is the king size a special serving? For the fried chicken, I ordered two pieces of soy sauce koji-flavored thigh meat and two pieces of salt koji-flavored breast meat, totaling four pieces. After a short wait, the dishes arrived, and wow, they look quite impressive. The fried chicken is well-cooked and visually appealing. I started with the breast meat, which is lean and has a mild flavor with no unpleasant odor. The first bite is as is, and the second bite with mayonnaise is really delicious. Next, I tried the thigh meat in the same way, and it is quite juicy with a strong flavor due to the soy sauce koji. But why did they decide to include the king egg? Well, the taste is good, and it's not that it doesn't go well with the fried chicken, but why a whole boiled egg... One thing that bothered me was the container with mayonnaise in it, as it made it difficult to dip the fried chicken, so it might be better to have a small dish instead. Additionally, besides the regular mayonnaise, you can choose from miso, soy sauce, or honey flavors, and you can also switch to tartar sauce. For those who don't want mayonnaise, you can switch to lemon wedges, but without mayonnaise, you'll have to eat the shredded cabbage plain. Honestly, this teishoku is quite good. For 130 yen per piece of fried chicken, the quality is decent, the meat is not bad, and it's quite juicy thanks to the koji. The frying level is also to my liking. In addition to thigh and breast meat, you can also choose neck meat or minced meat, and although chicken wings were listed on the order slip, they seemed to be out of stock that day. I would like to revisit and try other parts in the future.==============================◇ 910 yen (Teishoku Set 390 yen / Thigh Soy Sauce Koji 130 yen x 2 / Breast Salt Koji 130 yen x 2)

I learned from a post by Fuzuki-san in Hokkaido that it was my first visit alone on a weekday. I chose to create my own original set meal, starting with the basic set for 390 yen, and added two pieces of chicken (soy sauce koji) for 130 yen each, and two pieces of chicken (salt koji) for 130 yen each. I also ordered a banana milk chocolate for 390 yen. The restaurant is located along the national highway, next to a ramen pork shop, and it seems that Hito Ha has closed down. Inside, there is an L-shaped counter and table seating. It looks like you have to write your order yourself, but a girl came to take my order and wrote it down on the ticket for me. I had planned to eat a chicken cutlet plate, but I found the option to create my own original set meal and decided to change my order. The sign says "15:00 - CLOSE," but they were still serving lunch when I went. For the basic set, I chose medium-sized rice, and you can also choose your sauce from mayonnaise (normal/miso/soy sauce/honey), tartar sauce, or lemon (without mayo). You can also add your choice of meat for 130 yen each, such as chicken (soy sauce koji), chicken (salt koji), tsukune (minced chicken patty), chicken breast (soy sauce koji), chicken breast (salt koji), chicken wings, or chicken cartilage. I ordered two pieces each of chicken (soy sauce koji) and chicken (salt koji), and it was very filling. I managed to finish it somehow. The flavored egg that came with the set was delicious and creamy, I wanted to put it on ramen. The drink that caught my eye on Instagram turned out to be a shake with three flavors (plain/chocolate/honey). It was refreshing and delicious, although it is best consumed within 5 minutes. The lunch plate with three types of chicken (chicken tempura/chicken cutlet/chicken breast tempura) and chicken cutlet curry is only 550 yen (at the time of my visit), which is quite cheap. I would like to try a different menu next time. Thank you for the meal.

Oh, a new fried chicken restaurant has opened. It's located where "Avenue Curry" used to be, and I was wondering how they would manage to open a ramen restaurant next to another ramen restaurant that was already there, but it seems like the latter has closed down. It's been 6 years since I last entered the building, and apart from the kitchen, not much seems to have changed. This restaurant specializes in fried chicken, offering thigh meat, breast meat, chicken wings, gizzards, and wrapped meatballs. The thigh and breast meat come in two flavors, soy sauce koji and salt koji. I usually prefer thigh meat, so I had a hard time choosing between the two flavors. I ended up choosing salt koji because many fried chicken places in town tend to have a strong soy sauce flavor. When ordering, you have to fill out an order form and hand it in, but the fact that they use color-printed paper makes me wonder about the cost in the long run. I asked a young female staff member about the size of the chicken pieces, and she showed me using her fingers. The male manager then explained that they were quite large, but I couldn't really gauge what "large" meant. I decided on ordering 4 pieces, assuming they were of a standard size found in supermarkets. The fried chicken set comes with 4 types of mayonnaise, tartar sauce, and lemon wedges. I chose tartar sauce for my salad, while my wife opted for lemon. The salad was served without any dressing, which seemed a bit stingy to me. As I took a bite of the fried chicken, I thought, "Oh, this goes well with rice!" The seasoning was just right for me, not too strong. Since it was freshly fried, I didn't end up using the tartar sauce. The rice portion comes in small, medium, and large sizes. I chose large, while my wife went for medium, but the large size wasn't overly generous, so go for the king-size if you're hungry. Lastly, my wife tried the miso soup and found it too strong, so she started diluting it with water. It turned out to be quite concentrated, and she ended up leaving it, which was a first for us. When we mentioned the soup's intensity to the staff during payment, they were surprised but took it as advice rather than a complaint. They were delighted when I complimented their cute new aprons, and their genuine response made me happy too.

While driving, I happened to discover this place and made a U-turn to try their food. Currently, there is a shift from the dumpling boom to the fried chicken boom. For a certain reason, I am quite particular about fried chicken. I tried the salt koji chicken thigh fried dish for 390 yen. I enjoyed a freshly fried piece in the car. The juicy and tender meat seemed to have a traceable origin, and the thin coating seemed to be a recent trend, providing a gentle flavor. The chicken was marinated in salt koji, but it was a bit mild. Whether as a side dish for rice or a snack with alcohol, I felt it was a bit lacking, so a soy sauce flavor might be better.

I apologize for accidentally inputting the wrong romanized name when entering the restaurant name as "Torisama". This is a newly opened fried chicken restaurant on April 27th, located next to the Tonkatsu restaurant. More specifically, it is at the former location of the ramen restaurant "Hitoha". Although there is an official Instagram account, there is limited information, so I decided to visit the restaurant. When I visited in the evening, there were no other customers, but there were many takeout orders. Takeout options include bento boxes or rice bowls, which can also be enjoyed inside the restaurant. In addition to bento boxes and rice bowls, there are also dine-in menu options available. I chose the following items for my order: - Rice, miso soup, salad, king's egg set (¥390) - Small rice - Honey mayonnaise - Chicken thigh with soy koji (¥130) - Wrapped meatball skewers x2 (¥130) - Chicken breast with salt koji (¥130) - Chicken tenderloin skewers x2 (¥130) The total came to ¥910. The freshly fried items had a satisfying crispy texture. The meatball skewers were juicy and flavorful, while the chicken thigh had a good chewy texture. The chicken tenderloin was springy and had a nice firmness. The chicken breast was crispy and had a delicious seasoning. The honey mayonnaise had a refreshing aroma and a subtle spicy kick. The king's egg was soft and flavorful, complemented by the diced paprika. The miso soup with egg was also delicious with a salty umami flavor. The rice was perfectly cooked. The owner kindly offered more rice if needed, but I was already full. While takeout customers are common, I prefer dining in, so I will likely choose to eat in again when I return. Congratulations on the opening, and good luck! Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by last month (December 2022) after visiting the hot springs. Just by looking at the sign, I wondered if they had onsen tamago (hot spring eggs) in addition to karaage. However, there were no egg-related items on the menu. I was given an order form to fill out myself and handed it to the staff. For dinner side dishes, I bought three types of karaage: "momo karaage shoyu koji" (390 yen), "mune karaage shoyu koji" (390 yen), and "mune karaage shio koji" (390 yen). I received freshly fried karaage, which was still warm, and enjoyed them as soon as I got home. All of them were relatively lightly seasoned, and I couldn't tell the difference between shio koji and shoyu koji. The meat was slightly firm and had a chewy texture. The staff seemed to be frequently going back and forth with the neighboring ramen shop, so I wondered if they were affiliated. The lunch plate is a good deal at 550 yen! If I have the chance, I would like to visit during lunchtime. Thank you, Torisama!

Library visit, greeted by two female staff members with smiles. Checked the takeout order form at the counter. I ordered 3 pieces of plum fried chicken with soy koji. Paid and waited for 10 minutes. They said they could deliver it to my car, but since it was a small purchase, I decided to pick it up at the store. Enjoyed it at home with a beer... So delicious! Plum fried chicken with soy koji, 3 pieces for 390 yen. Thank you for the meal! (^^)v

There is a new fried chicken shop opening in Eniwa. I love fried chicken, so I'm happy to see various fried chicken shops around. They offer soy sauce flavored fried chicken and salt koji flavored fried chicken, both come in a set of 3 for 390 yen each. The coating is not thick and the seasoning is on the surface, not fully soaked inside.
