I really feel like eating Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) a lot. When I crave meat, I also want to eat other things like fish or curry. But when I can't rely on my wife to cook, I have to buy it myself and bring it home. Today is one of those days. I really want to go to a yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurant, but that requires the other person's agreement, which is a hassle. I try not to refuse invitations as much as possible because I don't like being rejected. I also don't like inviting others. If I buy meat and bring it home, maybe we can just eat together without complaints. I was in Abashiri, so I'll get the meat from there. There are only two meat shops in Abashiri, so I'll go to this one today. I wonder why lamb has become so expensive. It's just rolled meat, right? I usually prefer to have the meat seasoned separately, but today I ordered it with Abashiri's seasoning. Will I offend people from Abashiri now? I usually use the sauce from Asahikawa or Obihiro to cover the meat's quality, but today I tried ordering with Abashiri's seasoning. Will I make enemies with Asahikawa or Obihiro now? Oh, and today my wife will be home late. Should I face off with Yoshitsune (a historical figure) alone? In the past, there was more fat in the meat, and the sauce was also more abundant. Putting bean sprouts in the grooves of the grill would color them nicely with the sauce from the meat. But was it a different culture back then? Now, you have to pour a different sauce on the bean sprouts for flavor. I'm fine with just the fat, so when I eat alone, I have to eat both. Normally, people who like lean meat are more common, so I can eat all my favorite parts quietly. Today it's just me. Still, it's delicious. It's tastier than the supermarket's Genghis Khan. Well, I guess I have to eat it occasionally to stay healthy.

In November 2015, after having lunch in Abashiri, I stumbled upon a butcher shop while strolling through the shopping street. The sign indicated that they have a 58-year history and that Genghis Khan is their specialty. Although a bit pricey at 280 yen for 100g, I decided to purchase 400g. When I cooked it at home with vegetables, the first thing I noticed was a refreshing citrus scent. The right amount of garlic and a Genghis Khan-like aroma were pleasing. The tenderness of the meat was average, but I liked the taste of the sauce. Although it's nice that the sauce is free with 400g of meat, I still think it's a bit expensive. In Naka-Choitsu, it's 250 yen per gram at Jo-Ram, and in Kitami, it's around 100 yen at Marukoshi. If this quality was around 200 yen per gram, I think it would be a great value. I enjoyed the taste, so I will definitely buy it again when I visit Abashiri.

2016,3 I'm alone and feeling lonely, even though I don't say it, it feels like I am (sweat). I don't want to drink alone in my hometown, so I'll have some Mongolian barbecue by myself. There are only two butcher shops in town, so I'll buy some meat from here. "500g of lamb meat" has gotten expensive, 100g for 270 yen? When I looked at the photo, it was 280 yen... Well, with only two butcher shops, they can be confident. I used to easily eat about 500g in the past, so I bought that much, but when I checked my review the other day, I saw that I had leftovers even with 300g. I tried eating it, but maybe it was because I had two beers? I still can't eat 300g. Oh, I really don't want to get old, maybe being alone is also a reason why I can't eat (sweat). I'll post the photo later. Hitori, nina, re, na, i, to, ma, chi, ga, i, o, ki, ru, zo 2015,10 My wife caught a cold. Normally, every time I catch a cold, she would mock me saying "You're weak!" and the like. "You'll catch it too, won't you?" "No, I won't. Even if I catch it, I don't get a fever and just have a runny nose." That's what she used to say, but this time she fell sick. She can't even cook. I thought about teasing her twice as much as usual, but the truth is, I was the one who passed it on, so I'll let it slide this time. "Shall I grill some Mongolian barbecue?" Recently, I was inspired by the lamb jokes from Subaru-san Trio, so I bought some meat and went. The number of butcher shops in Abashiri has somehow become two. I'll go to one of them. It used to be a shop in front of the station. I was told since I was a child that "this is the place for Mongolian barbecue," but it seems the one in front of the station has closed and it moved to a butcher shop that was originally run by the agricultural cooperative. It's been how many years since then, I don't know. Quoted from the internet: "The shop was established in 1949 as "Gotou Butcher Shop" in Shinmachi and has been working hard as a butcher. This year marks the 56th year of the secret sauce for Genghis Khan. Address: Minami 4-jo Nishi 2-chome, Abashiri City (across from Hokkaido Bank) Tel/Fax: 43-0304 Business hours: 9:00-18:00 Closed on Sundays. Thursdays and Saturdays are meat sale days. We look forward to seeing you." Today, I will buy lamb and sukiyaki meat. I don't remember the price. The lamb is marinated and costs 1,000 yen for 300g. I didn't buy the sukiyaki meat because it was expensive. I also bought Australian meat, but the price difference was huge, so I'll try the lamb first. Eating alone, I usually eat 600g for two people, but today I'm alone, so I bought 300g, but I can't eat it at all. I guess it's because it's just not fun to do Mongolian barbecue alone. The next day, I'll have sukiyaki alone. Sometimes I buy two types, I used to eat the cheap meat first. But before I eat the expensive meat, I end up getting full and just eating the cheap meat. I can't eat sukiyaki as much as I thought. So this time, I'll eat the expensive meat first. "Wow, it melts..." Even my face is melting. I can't show this to my first love. "Delicious... I can't stop." The expensive meat is gone! Maybe because it was expensive, I can still eat more. I'll try the Australian meat. "Ugh, this is terrible." I just can't eat it. I left it. I wonder what that meat is doing now? Why am I eating alone? No matter what illness I get, I'll still eat and drink, but my wife doesn't eat at all and doesn't drink. There are other circumstances, so I'm alone (sweat).

I received a flavored Genghis Khan dish from "Niku no Maruyu" in Abashiri City as a return gift for my hometown tax donation. The donation amount was ¥10,000 for 1350g of lamb meat. I thawed it in the refrigerator for a whole day and cooked it on a hot plate since I don't have a Genghis Khan pot. I arranged onions, bean sprouts, and shiitake mushrooms, then turned on the flavored Genghis Khan... Oops, the circuit breaker tripped because I was also using the hairdryer and microwave at the same time (laughs). Once it was cooked, I flipped it over and wiped off excess moisture and fat with kitchen paper. The flavor was fruity and slightly spicy, and the meat was tender and delicious. It may not be the traditional way of eating it, but I enjoyed this gift from the northern land.
