In Sapporo City, Kita-ku, Shinkotoni is Piriko. It's along 4th Street, around Lucky's. I ordered the Piriko Special. I couldn't decide between the chicken and pork kakuni, so I chose the one where I could have both. I got the regular soup, level 3 spiciness, large 300g rice with cheese topping. It's a well-balanced bowl with a Japanese-style dashi made from bonito and kelp, and spices. It was delicious. Thank you. Local famous restaurant, I didn't know... I graduated from Shin-Kotoni Elementary School to Shin-Kotoni Junior High School in Sapporo's Kita Ward, so this restaurant is like my second hometown. Apparently, it has been in business for 10 years, but embarrassingly, I didn't know about its existence... Looking at the menu, being a first-time visitor, I chose the chicken, which seemed quite conventional. Oh, you can add pickles separately from the spiciness. A topping perfect for me (a pickle lover). I started with 5 pieces, but that might be a bit too much? Haha Chicken Leg 1200 yen Spiciness level 6 5 Pickles (+100 yen) Rice M (200g) [Soup] The soup with basil floating on top, slightly yellowish with strong aroma, is very fragrant. The 5 pickles do a great job, adding a delicious accent to the soup. Since they are chopped, they blend well with the soup. As a pickle lover, I was delighted by the soup. (However, 5 pieces might have been a bit too much for me, as the pickles ended up overpowering all the flavors and my taste buds became numb, only tasting pickles towards the end. Haha) The soup has a good balance of chicken bone and vegetable umami, a light tomato acidity, and a hint of Japanese dashi. It's complex but well-balanced and quite delicious. (Towards the end, the hidden tonkotsu flavor and umami come through.) [Vegetables] Finely chopped shiitake mushrooms, which blend well with the rich soup and taste delicious. It's the first time I've enjoyed shiitake mushrooms this much! Broccoli: deep-fried, absorbing the soup well and tasty Carrot: thinly sliced, deep-fried Lotus root: deep-fried, fragrant and tasty Pumpkin: deep-fried Potato: fluffy and tasty Shiitake mushrooms: finely chopped and added to the soup. Impressive! Boiled egg [Chicken] Perfect tenderness, firm texture, no flavor loss, no odor. Surprisingly large with a satisfying bite. After being gently stewed, it seems to be lightly fried or roasted? Very fragrant and pleasant taste. [Rice] Slightly soft rice with a refreshing texture. During lunchtime, a salad is served as a complimentary side. [Coffee] +220 yen. I'm not a fan of espresso, but the coffee here is not too strong, complementing the aftertaste of curry with a delightful flavor. It was delicious. This place has been open for 10 years? I didn't know... A bit of a shock. Haha The braised pork also looked very delicious, and I definitely want to try the roux curry next time. A revisit seems inevitable. Thank you for the meal! I rarely go to soup curry restaurants, but on this hot day, I found this place while out and decided to stop by to boost my stamina. They had soup curry and roux curry on the menu. The staff's explanation of the menu was clear and easy to understand. I had the chicken soup curry, which was delicious. You can also choose the amount of rice for free, so you can adjust it according to your preference that day. The salad before the meal was also included, which was very nice. If I have the chance, I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I felt like having either soup curry or curry rice, so I decided to come here. When I arrived at the restaurant, it was almost opening time. There was only one car parked in the parking lot, so I was able to park easily. I was seated and looked at the menu, which offered a daily lunch special of curry rice today. It came with chicken cutlet, 2 vegetable dishes, a mini salad, and a half-size drink. The rice could be upsized for free. The total cost was 900 yen including tax. I chose medium spiciness, orange juice for the drink, and of course, I asked for the rice to be upsized. The food was ready in less than 10 minutes. Just before I finished eating, another customer arrived, followed by a group of two, who started smoking, filling the restaurant with smoke. The ventilation was poor, and I felt uncomfortable. Despite this, I decided to observe the situation and continue eating. I noticed that there was a spice similar to hot spice sprinkled on top of the curry. The medium spiciness seemed to be adjusted with this spice. The upsized rice portion was not that big. The chicken cutlet was thin and small. The salad and orange juice were also in mini sizes. The vegetables were average. As I started eating, I felt the spice level was adjusted with the additional hot spice. The chicken cutlet was decent, although small. Overall, I finished my meal quickly due to the smoky environment and felt the need to leave as soon as possible. The smoke was uncomfortable for non-smokers and should be addressed by the restaurant.

Located in the Shin-Kinu area, along the Fourth Street, is a curry restaurant. The building is surrounded by parking spaces. I believe this place has been here for quite some time, but this was my first visit. The interior has a cafe-like atmosphere with plenty of table seating. It was dinner time, but it wasn't too crowded. You can choose between soup curry and regular curry, and I prefer soup curry, so I ordered the "Chicken Leg (1,150 yen)" with regular soup, level 6 spiciness, and large rice (300g). You can upgrade to shrimp soup for an additional 100 yen. Spiciness levels up to 10 are free, but if you want it spicier, you can add Pikkiru for an extra charge. Upgrading to a large rice is free up to size L. It was ready in about 10 minutes. The soup had a balance of richness and lightness, with a flavor that would appeal to many. In addition to the main chicken leg, it contained pumpkin, potatoes, lotus root, broccoli, carrots, boiled egg, and all the ingredients were deliciously cooked. Level 6 spiciness was just right for me, so if you like spicy food, you might want to increase the level. Among the many soup curry restaurants, this place didn't stand out with a unique character, but it felt like a standard soup curry in terms of flavor, portion size, and price, making it a good choice when you want a standard soup curry experience.

I wonder how many years it has been since I last visited. It seems like the curry has improved recently. The interior of the restaurant is clean and calming, but there are ashtrays, so I wonder if smoking is allowed. It's been about 5 years, I think? Back then, it felt like something was missing, and I still felt that a little this time, but when I shredded the chicken, the soup became more flavorful! I had the Mushroom Chicken Leg Curry, spice level 10, with a small size of rice. There was some spiciness on the table. It was moderately spicy. The portion of rice was quite generous.

The Piri Piri Special spiciness level 10 Max at Rice S was quite spicy. It came with braised pork, chicken leg, and plenty of vegetables. Surprisingly, there was an ashtray on the table. The braised pork was flavorful and delicious.

Located on the 10th block of 4th Street in Shinkotoni, the curry restaurant "Pirico" is a spot I had been keeping an eye on for a while. It is conveniently situated across from the Lucky Shinkotoni 4th Street store, with parking space for about 4-5 cars in front of the establishment. Upon arrival, a lively older sister greets you and guides you to your seat. There are 5 box seats and 14-15 table seats along the wall. The presence of ashtrays on the tables may bother some customers. The menu offers both roux curry and soup curry options. During weekdays, the lunch menu includes salad, free extra rice, and soft drinks for 100 yen. For dinner, there are deals like the "light drinking set @750" and the "light drinking half curry set @1,100" on weekdays. Unfortunately, these benefits are not available on Saturdays. I ordered the "Chicken Leg @1,150, extra spicy level 10, small rice", which was served in just 6 minutes. The dish included broccoli, lotus root, chicken, pumpkin, carrots, potatoes, and half a boiled egg. Cutlery provided included a knife, fork, spoon, and chopsticks. I used the spoon to enjoy the meal. The soup, which was free, had a considerable level of spiciness, providing a sense of value. It lacked sweetness and richness, resulting in a refreshing taste with a moderate saltiness. The large pieces of pumpkin were deliciously soft, while the chicken was pre-boiled and then fried to a crispy yet tender texture. The rice quality was decent, but slightly on the firmer side, which suited my preference. If given the chance, I would definitely like to try their roux curry as well. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Piriko Special - The volume of meat in the number 10 dish is amazing, even a small amount of rice fills you up. The soup curry is rich and hearty, but I feel like it could have a bit more depth in flavor. The spiciness is just right, but there is a lack of umami within the heat. Chicken Vegetable - The level 5 spiciness is just right. The Blueberry Lassi has fruit chunks and tastes delicious. The service is good.

Today, I went to Pirico in Shin-Kotoni (Nishi 5-chome, along Tarukawa Street) with a colleague from work to try their roux curry, which allows you to eat both the roux and the soup. I chose the roux curry because it's been a while since I last had it. There were various toppings to choose from, and after much deliberation, I decided on the Jumbo Frank Chicken Cutlet (1 spice level) with a base of chicken cutlet that I had been craving, topped with a fried egg and a jumbo frankfurter. It looked like I might have overdone it, but when it arrived, I found that the portion of rice was surprisingly small (probably around 200g or less), so I felt light after finishing it and wanted dessert. In terms of spice level, the 1 spice level here is similar to the 2 spice level at CoCo Ichibanya. Everyone has their own preference for curry roux, but I personally prefer the spicier flavor at Pirico. The rice was also satisfying with just the right amount of firmness.

Until 2:00 PM on weekdays, you can get a free mini salad and free extra large rice. You can add a drink for 100 yen! The Mushroom Chicken dish costs 1100 yen. You can choose the spiciness level for free, up to level 10. I ordered a small size rice. I pointed at the lunchtime service menu and paid 100 yen for an IC. While waiting, I noticed the smell of cigarettes coming from somewhere. Oh? There was an ashtray on the table. It seems like this is a smoking-friendly restaurant. The food arrived in about 10 minutes. I didn't receive the salad, so I asked about the lunchtime service, and they laughed, saying it was past 2:00 PM. Looking at the photos, I did indeed place the order at 2:01 PM. However, they mentioned that if there is leftover salad, they will still serve it even after the time limit. They also offered to add a drink for 100 yen. I tried the soup, which was thick and curry-based, with a moderate level of spiciness. It contained pumpkin, broccoli, lotus root, potato, mushrooms, and carrots. The dish was very affordable considering the amount of vegetables, mushrooms, and chicken included. The rice was ordinary, similar to what you would have at home. The half-cooked egg was a nice touch. They also offer takeout, and the dinner menu has time-limited specials. Overall, it's a casual and reasonably priced restaurant that you might want to try. Thank you for the meal.

A new curry restaurant offering both roux curry and soup curry opened along Nishi 5-chome and Tarukawa Street in Sapporo. I was initially not very interested in visiting because in Sapporo, roux curry and soup curry are considered completely different foods, so restaurants that serve both are somewhat looked down upon. However, I decided to give it a try when I happened to pass by the front of the restaurant in my car. The sign at the entrance read "Smoking allowed in all seats," which was a big negative point for me as a non-smoker and someone who dislikes smoke. However, there were only one family with children inside and no one was smoking, so I let it slide. I decided to go with the roux curry, which had colorful fried vegetables on top, a rarity for a roux curry restaurant in Sapporo. The curry arrived quickly, and it looked delicious with the colorful vegetables on top. The roux had a strong flavor of animal-based broth and salt, which paired well with the rice. I chose the one with fried vegetables and bacon and egg toppings. The bacon was thick and satisfying, and the sunny-side-up egg had a runny yolk that complemented the roux well. The fried vegetables were also well-cooked with a nice crispiness. Overall, the toppings were well-prepared. I would like to come back to try the roux curry again and also the soup curry. However, the one thing that concerns me is how long the restaurant will continue to allow smoking in all seats. If there are customers smoking inside next time I visit, I will choose not to dine there and leave. I hope the restaurant considers changing its smoking policy to attract more customers who want to purely enjoy their curry. I will keep an eye on the restaurant's future developments.

This is my first visit to Curry House PIRICO. It's a restaurant that serves both soup curry and roux curry. The smell of curry inside the restaurant is really nice. After looking at the menu, I decided to try the roux curry this time. I ordered the Jumbo Frank & Chicken Cutlet Curry with spice level 3 for 880 yen, and the 10-vegetable curry with spice level 2 for 890 yen. During lunchtime, a mini salad is included with the curry. The Chicken Cutlet Curry had a lot of toppings, it was quite a generous portion. The Vegetable Curry looked pretty average. The curry itself was delicious in a normal way. Couldn't really tell the difference in spiciness levels. We shared the toppings and had a good time together. Next time, I'll challenge the soup curry. Thank you for the meal!

After finishing work, I came to Shin-Kotoni. Since I have work again tomorrow, I decided to eat soup curry to recharge. That's why I visited Curry House Piriko for the first time. The orange signboard makes the restaurant stand out. The interior layout is similar to a Coco Ichibanya or a family restaurant. They offer both curry roux and soup curry, but I chose the soup curry. From the menu, I ordered the Mushroom and Pork Belly Soup Curry (1280 yen) with the regular soup option. I selected level 8 out of 10 for spiciness, which is considered medium spicy. I added three types of vegetables (pumpkin, eggplant, bell pepper) as toppings (+200 yen) to the medium-sized 220g rice. It was served in about 10 minutes. The soup was a bit thick but not too intense in flavor. It had a balanced taste of tonkotsu, Japanese dashi, and spices, as described on the menu, but I found it lacking a distinctive feature and somewhat flat. The spiciness at level 8 was not too strong, just as expected for medium spiciness. The mushrooms and vegetables were average. The highlight was the large piece of pork belly, which had a sweet seasoning that I really enjoyed! It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. I got energy from the soup curry, so I'll do my best again tomorrow. Next time, I should try their curry roux as well. This was my 59th curry dish of the year.

Visited around 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 2019. Used as dinner. There were about 8 parking spaces available, parked in an empty space. Checked the menu and ordered Chicken Leg spiciness level 5 for myself and Bacon Egg spiciness level 4 for my companion. 1. Chicken Leg 1100 yen (tax included) - The chicken is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a flavorful broth containing broccoli, carrots, potatoes, eggs, chicken, and pumpkin. The bone-in chicken is large. 2. Bacon Egg 1180 yen (tax included) - Consists of two thick slices of bacon and a sunny-side-up egg. Other ingredients include lotus root and broccoli. Slightly fewer ingredients compared to the Chicken Leg. 3. Hokkaido Cream Cheese 280 yen (tax included) - Simple-looking vanilla ice cream with a strong cream cheese flavor. Overall, recommended for lunchtime specials and evening beer set deals. Next time, I want to try the roux curry.

In late March on a Sunday, I went to Shin-Kotoni to clean up the previous house. It was lunchtime, and my favorite nearby cafe was full. With limited time, I decided to go to a place where I could eat quickly. I knew about this place before but it was my first visit. They had soup curry, but I chose the curry rice as it seemed like it would be served quickly. - Cheese Curry 680 yen The curry rice had no ingredients, but the flavor was deep, so I could tell that various ingredients were melted into it. The cheese was very stretchy and delicious. There was homemade Fukujinzuke on the table, which was really tasty! It was a small bottle, but my husband, daughter, and I finished it all. (I should have taken a picture before eating it *_*). At first, I thought it was a bit expensive for curry with no ingredients, but after eating it, I was satisfied. On weekdays, they serve a complimentary salad, which makes it even more worthwhile. It's a curry specialty shop that also serves soup curry, but for some reason, the atmosphere of the restaurant or the menu pictures didn't really appeal to me. Maybe if I were 10 years younger, it would have been more appealing (laughs). I had been curious about this place for a while, so I'm glad I finally went. Thank you for the meal!

On my day off, I was thinking about where to go for lunch and I contacted my friend Nochim-san who seemed free. She was okay with it, so we decided to go eat curry. She suggested two places nearby and we chose the closer one. We picked up Nochim-san and headed to the restaurant. It was not very crowded as we arrived slightly after lunchtime. The menu had both soup and curry options, which was nice depending on our mood. I chose the soup first, with pork and the regular spiciness level. I went for the LL rice since it was free during weekday lunchtime, and it also came with a salad. The soup was thick and rich, and the pork was large and flavorful, although slightly too salty for my taste. The soup had various vegetables like potatoes, carrots, lotus root, pumpkin, broccoli, and chopped wood ear mushrooms. Overall, the meal was decent and a good deal for lunchtime.

On a regular day, I was thinking about where to go, and then I received a message from my friend Wu-ta to go out for lunch (^o^)♪ After considering a few options, we ended up coming here! I forgot that smoking was allowed inside the restaurant, and the smoke was bothering my eyes…! (>_<) I wish they would make it non-smoking at least during lunchtime…! I was indecisive but ended up choosing the classic chicken dish! ・Chicken Leg (Spiciness level 10/1100 yen) There are condiments on the table to adjust the spiciness, so I tried setting it to 10, and it was quite spicy, making my throat tingle! It was a type of curry that was spicy but not too salty, which was a relief after having overly salty curry the other day! The soup curry here had a traditional taste to it. However, the chicken was not easy to shred and eat…! It was a struggle to eat it…! (つд⊂) The mini salad, which is limited to weekday lunches, was a Caesar salad and easy to eat. Also, they accept PayPay as a payment method! It was a bit far from my usual area, so I'm glad I had the opportunity to come here! Thank you, Wu-ta! (((orz

I had been thinking about wanting to eat curry after a long time, and then I stumbled upon a curry restaurant! I had to go there! However, there were no signs of anyone having entered the place... They offered both soup curry and regular curry? I felt a bit uneasy but decided to go with the curry! Hmm. I might not be a fan of the rice, as it was too mushy for my liking.

Recommended curry restaurant in this area. Both soup curry and roux curry are of high quality. Katsu curry: sweet and well-balanced, good taste. Delicious and appealing to everyone. Katsu curry is justice. Soup curry: has a hint of Soul Store-like flavor, maybe due to the strong kombu-based Japanese-style broth. No off-flavors, also high quality. It pleasantly surprises you from its chain-store-like appearance. Recommended!
