2022♡♡89th cup, November 6th, 2:30 PM I went to a ramen shop, but I still feel like eating something else, haha. It's 3 PM and all the shops are taking a break. I'm wandering around, and there are customers already. The shop owner looks a bit intimidating, but the ramen is only 600 yen, so cheap! I thought it would be a light ramen, so I chose soy sauce flavor. The portion is normal, and even though there's only one slice of chashu, it's delicious. The soup is a bit salty but still light and tasty. I really liked it. Other customers are having ramen with fried rice, and it comes with a salad, healthy. I'm curious about the spicy miso ramen. This place is great for bringing kids because it's affordable and you can feed them well. The shop owner finished cooking and took a break. When I left, he stood up and thanked me with a smile. It was heartwarming. I'll definitely come back. They also had a seaweed rice bowl, which I'm curious about, haha. Thank you for the meal.

I dropped by because I was craving Showa-style cold ramen. A father in a short-sleeved shirt was cooking, while a kind mother with a smile was serving customers attentively. The salt ramen was delicious, so I had high hopes for the cold ramen, but it was a bit disappointing. I wished there were more cucumber and shredded omelette piled on top. However, I was satisfied with being able to eat a classic Showa-style cold ramen. Next time, I will go back to try the salt ramen or fried rice.

I visited this place because I was craving Showa-style salt ramen. When I saw the sign saying "Nishiyama Seimen" on the curtain, my expectations rose. I was surprised when I saw the prices - ramen for 600 yen, yakisoba for 550 yen, fried rice for 600 yen, all surprisingly affordable. When the ramen arrived, I was surprised again. It looked so impressive, definitely not what you would expect for 600 yen. It had plenty of neatly cut green onions and a large slice of chashu. The taste was just as I expected, with a Showa-era vibe. I prefer my noodles a bit firmer, so I'll request that next time I visit. There are so many other menu items that caught my eye. I definitely plan on coming back.

I was drawn in by the traditional atmosphere of the shop and decided to dine in. The menu offers a variety of options such as ramen, fried rice, and dumplings, as well as set meals like yakisoba and beef hamburg steak, all at affordable prices. I chose the ramen and mini curry set, which came with a generous portion of ramen, almost a full serving of curry rice, and a side salad. The ramen seemed to be made with chicken broth and soy sauce, while the curry was sweet with clams and beef, giving it a homemade touch. The cozy atmosphere of the shop, with its nostalgic Showa era charm, makes it a place that seems to be loved by locals. It's a great spot where you can leave satisfied for under 1,000 yen.

Today is the first day of my two-day weekend! I went shopping at Maori no Oka in Nagano Town and then headed to a ramen shop in Kuriyama Town with my wife. But oh no! There's a long line in front of the ramen shop, with more than 10 people waiting! It's already 12 o'clock noon, and it seems to be a very popular place as I've heard from reviews. As someone over 60, I decided to give up on waiting in line! So, we changed our plans and went to "Takemi" near JR Nopporo Station instead. When we arrived, there were only two customers ahead of us, so we were able to get in smoothly. The restaurant had a retro Showa era vibe, and we were seated at a sunken table. I ordered the Takemi lunch set for 900 yen including tax, and my wife got the cold ramen for 700 yen including tax. The Takemi lunch set came with stir-fried spaghetti topped with a hamburger patty and a generous amount of demi-glace sauce. The salad was a basic cucumber and tomato mix, and the miso soup was packed with ingredients like tofu, seaweed, carrots, daikon, fried tofu, and chopped green onions. The cold ramen had ham, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, bean sprouts, shredded egg, pickled ginger, chopped seaweed, daikon, and mustard. As for the taste, the stir-fried spaghetti turned into a meaty spaghetti dish as I ate, and the hamburger patty was quite tender. The miso soup was delicious with plenty of ingredients. It felt like I had eaten something similar a long time ago. My wife mentioned that the cold ramen had a strong vinegar flavor, similar to the ramen at her family's restaurant. We both finished our meals completely. After we finished, I was surprised to see the kitchen - it was very small! Next time, I want to try the miso ramen made by Nishiyama Seimen!

I thought about going to have lunch. I decided to go to the Fudoshokudo in Nopporo, which is called the phantom cafeteria. However, when I got there, it was closed. So, where should I go to eat? How about Takeaji? Takeaji? It's probably Takeaji. I went in, and it felt like a nostalgic place. It had a Showa era vibe. The owners, both the man and woman, had a Showa quality about them. When I go to a ramen shop for the first time, I usually try the soy sauce ramen to get a feel for the place. I ordered the soy sauce chashu ramen, extra large! It cost 900 yen plus tax. The ramen had large pork shoulder chashu slices and only green onions for vegetables. I took a sip of the soup, which had a hint of sesame oil. The noodles were from Nishiyama Seimen. It was a simple, old-fashioned ramen that seemed to have been preserved from the Showa era to the present day. It wasn't particularly outstanding, but it was decent. The quality of the chashu was a bit mediocre, with a fatty and chewy texture. It was not bad, but it could have been better. There are many other ramen shops where you can get a more delicious and filling bowl of ramen for 1,000 yen. This place offers a default ramen for 650 yen. The chashu quality was also just okay. It was the typical soy-sauce flavored pork that was a bit chewy. It was not bad, but it could have been better. Overall, it was an okay ramen for the price, but it felt more like a ramen from the Heisei era.

Second visit on December 5, 2019. I had high expectations since the beef hamburger set I had last time was really delicious. This time, I ordered the grilled young chicken set that I had decided to try next during my last visit. The grilled young chicken set costs 800 yen (tax included). It takes about 20 minutes to prepare as the chicken is grilled on a net. The seasoning is simple with just salt and pepper. The chicken thigh is a large single piece, cut into bite-sized pieces for easy eating. The taste was okay, as the seasoning was simple. Maybe my expectations were a bit too high. Thank you for the meal. I will come back again.

Visited a ramen restaurant for the first time on October 29, 2019. The restaurant had a variety of dishes on the menu, including Western and Japanese cuisine. I was particularly intrigued by the Beef Hamburg Steak set. Despite the restaurant specializing in ramen, I couldn't resist ordering the hamburg steak. The Beef Hamburg Steak set was priced at 800 yen, and the hamburg steak covered in demi-glace sauce was deliciously tender and flavorful. I was surprised by how tasty it was. The rice also paired well with the remaining demi-glace sauce. I am now curious about the other menu items and might not order ramen for a while. Perhaps I will try the Grilled Chicken set next time. It's hard to believe this is a ramen restaurant. Thank you for the delicious meal. I will definitely be back soon.

On a certain weekday, I went on a little expedition for lunch to a ramen shop in Nopporo, Ebetsu City. The shop has a wide variety of menu items and a parking lot for a few cars. The interior has a historical feel with an L-shaped counter and two raised tables. The background music is the midday wide show playing on the TV. After much deliberation over the menu, I decided to try the "Take Flavor Lunch (850 yen)" which is the shop's signature dish. It arrived on a single plate. The hamburger was tender and delicious, almost like a pre-made product, with an impressively rich demiglace sauce. The spaghetti underneath was thin noodles that paired well with the flavorful sauce on top, complementing the hamburger and the rice next to it. The salad had Thousand Island dressing, a half-boiled egg, and the miso soup was packed with ingredients like seaweed, enoki mushrooms, fried tofu, tofu, carrots, and green onions. It's a shame that there are fewer restaurants with such a diverse range of set meals these days. Thank you for the meal.

It's a nostalgic and charming old-fashioned diner. The kind motherly waitress and the quiet, quick-cooking father. It brings back memories of going there as a child, holding my mother's hand. Grilled chicken, soy sauce ramen, yakisoba, and hamburg steak. All simple, cheap, and delicious. I'll come back again, so please stay well.

I have lived in Ebetsu for 26 years and this was my first visit to this restaurant! I always had the image that it was a bit intimidating to enter. Today, I decided to be brave and try Kyoto-san's favorite soy sauce ramen (550 yen). The nostalgic soup goes well with Nishiyama Seimen's noodles. The toppings included chashu, menma, fried tofu, naruto, boiled egg, seaweed, chopped green onions. It would have been even better with spinach instead of seaweed, but for 550 yen, I can't complain. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Long time no see! Today, my partner and I visited a ramen shop. My partner really wanted to eat ramen, so we decided to try a place we hadn't been to before. I had never tried the katsu ramen at this place, so I ordered that while my partner ordered the spicy miso ramen. We also ordered some gyoza to share. The gyoza sauce was served in a dish with two pieces, and the waitress even brought out a bottle of chili oil from her apron pocket! The katsu ramen was perfect - the hot crispy katsu went so well with the light soup and the fried tofu that soaked up all the flavors. The seaweed and wakame might not have been necessary, but the fried tofu that came out from under the katsu was delicious. The ramen was so good that it made me thirsty afterwards. My partner's spicy miso ramen was more like a regular miso ramen with chili oil added, not too spicy but just right for this place. The gyoza seemed homemade, with chewy skin and a vegetable-heavy filling. You had to make sure to dip it in the sauce before eating. The restaurant was packed with regulars, enjoying ramen and beer while watching high school baseball. After trying the katsu ramen here, I think I've probably tried all the katsu ramen in Ebetsu city, but who knows, there might be more out there. The path of katsu ramen is a challenging one!

Located in the eastern area of Nopporo, surrounded by residential areas in Ebetsu City, between the Hakodate Main Line and Route 46, is a diner and ramen shop in town. The restaurant is situated about 300m east from the elevated railway along Shirakaba Street, a 5-10 minute walk from JR Nopporo Station. On July 4, 2017, at 12:30 pm, after having a very spicy soup curry at Chutta, I felt like I needed more food, so I decided to do a lunch crawl. While Ebetsu City mainly has chain restaurants along Route 12, there are interesting individual shops like this one when you step into the side streets. I then went to this place located right near Chutta. The atmosphere inside was diner-like and welcoming. The background music was from the TV, which added to the cozy feel. I chose my favorite seat and was served a glass of water, which made me feel right at home. I ordered the fried rice for 550 yen. The sound of the frying pan and spatula filled the air, and in no time, my dish was ready. It was topped with shredded seaweed, which was a nice touch. The taste was a classic fried rice flavor with salt, pepper, and soy sauce. The rice was perfectly fried, not clumped together at all. As more customers came in, I quickly finished my meal and left. The impression of the couple running the place was also very positive. I would definitely want to come back to this restaurant. Maybe next time, I'll try a rice bowl or ramen combo. By the way, what is a wakame bowl?

I came to this restaurant in Ebetsu for the first time in a while, so I decided to try it out. It is run by a couple, a man and a woman. The menu includes ramen, yakisoba, curry, fried rice, rice bowls, and set meals. Among the set meals, the Takemidoranchi set seems to be popular. Today, I felt like having ramen, so I ordered the ramen and curry set in soy sauce flavor. The set costs 750 yen and comes with a mini salad. The mini salad includes cabbage, tomato, and cucumber with a Japanese-style dressing. It's rare to have a mini salad with a ramen set. The mini curry has a good thickness and a nice level of spiciness. It's delicious, but slightly lacking in volume. The soy sauce ramen comes with one slice of chashu, a cut boiled egg, seaweed, wakame, naruto, menma, and chopped green onions. The chashu is tender and flavorful. The soup is light yet tasty, giving a nostalgic feeling. The seasoning is just right. The noodles are medium-thin and slightly curly, cooked to a soft texture. Overall, I think it's a good deal for 750 yen. If I have the chance, I would like to try other items on the menu.

I stopped by because I was in the Nopporo area, it's my first time visiting this place. I didn't have high expectations since Nori-san's reviews aren't great, so I didn't expect much when I visited (laughs). The interior of the restaurant was hot like a steam bath, probably because of the abnormal high temperature due to the typhoon. It must be tough to work in the kitchen in this heat. The menu mainly consists of ramen dishes, with a wide variety to choose from. Since it had the Nishiyama's noren, I assume ramen is their specialty. They also offer rice bowls and set meals, like beef tongue set meal and beef hamburger set meal caught my attention. I noticed they also have Katsu Ramen on the menu, which I love, but due to the heat inside the restaurant, I decided to go with the Shoyu Ramen following the norm. It took about 6 minutes for the ramen to arrive. It was a dining hall ramen with seaweed and wakame. Am I the only one who thinks seaweed is unnecessary in ramen? Dining hall ramen usually comes with either seaweed or wakame. This place is a double whammy, isn't it? The chashu was made of solid pork loin. Other toppings included bamboo shoots, wheat gluten, naruto, and a sliced boiled egg. The soup tasted familiar, like Nishiyama's soup. The noodles were Nishiyama's, but they were wavy and softer than usual. This ramen is typical of a dining hall. I decided not to expect much from the ramen here. I'll try the rice bowls or set meals next time, they must be delicious for sure!

Visited a ramen shop for the 67th time in 2015, as my wife was not home today. I decided to go on a ramen tour and visit two shops! However, I didn't feel like going too far, so I chose a nearby place, Ramen Takeaji in Ebetsu. I arrived just after they opened at 11 am and there were no other customers. The interior of the shop had a very old-fashioned feel, with manga books stacked haphazardly, giving it a typical local eatery vibe. I sat at the counter and ordered the miso ramen. The not-so-friendly shop owner started cooking. I could somewhat see the cooking process from the counter, but the ramen appeared without hearing the sound of stir-fried vegetables. It had an old Sapporo miso flavor. The soup was okay but a bit lukewarm. The noodles were Nishiyama, slightly softer as you would expect in a diner. The vegetables were plentiful but not stir-fried, more like boiled. However, they weren't mushy and paired well with the soup. The bamboo shoots and char siu were cold, which might have contributed to the lukewarm temperature. Despite that, the char siu had a nice flavor. The price was reasonable, and the taste was average. I would like to try something other than ramen at this shop in the future. Two more customers arrived while I was eating, both ordering non-ramen dishes, so it seems like the set meals might be popular here. The first stop ended safely! Thank you for the meal!

After finishing up some errands in Ebetsu, I started to feel a bit hungry and coincidentally spotted a ramen sign! I had actually found this place beforehand though (laughs). The location is on the left-hand side as you drive towards Ebetsu on the White Birch Street, after turning right at the intersection with the post office on your right while driving towards Iwamizawa on National Route 12. The restaurant has a typical diner-style appearance with a prominent ramen sign, but it seems like they offer a variety of other menu items as well. The interior of the restaurant has a nostalgic Showa-era vibe, which can be described as a bit messy and questionable in terms of hygiene (laughs). There is an L-shaped counter surrounding the kitchen, and a raised tatami area on the left side with two 4-person low tables. Since it was an odd time, there were no other customers when I visited. I sat at the end of the counter and looked at the menu, and to my surprise, the soy sauce ramen was only 550 yen! I had a feeling that it wouldn't be priced at 750 yen like modern ramen places, but this price was quite impressive. The other menu items were also reasonably priced. I ordered and waited for about 7 minutes while reading a manga (today's choice was "Shura no Mon," a martial arts manga, laughs). When the bowl was brought to me, the first thing that caught my eye was the size. Honestly, I was expecting a traditional bowl with a dragon design on the rim, but it was a slightly more contemporary style with a wide mouth. The size was quite generous, and the variety of toppings was abundant. All of this for 550 yen felt like a great deal. I tried the soup first, and while it was a simple combination, it was delicious. The base was a strong chicken broth complemented well by the soy sauce flavor. It seemed like they used quite a bit of seasoning, but it enhanced the taste nicely. The saltiness was just right, and there was a subtle richness from the chicken fat. Initially, I thought the soup might be too light based on the color, but it pleasantly surprised me. The noodles were the typical Sapporo-style noodles from Nishiyama Seimen, medium-thick and wavy. The texture and chewiness were just right, and the cooking was spot on. However, I felt like the amount of noodles was slightly lacking, perhaps because they were too easy to eat (laughs). The toppings were incredibly abundant with slices of pork, bamboo shoots, wheat gluten, fish cake, boiled egg, seaweed, chopped green onions, etc. The pork slices were substantial and had a good chew to them, making them quite tasty. The other toppings were nothing extraordinary, but the generous amount made the dish impressive. Overall, I was very satisfied with this ramen for 550 yen. The restaurant may not be the cleanest, and the owner may not be the most friendly, but there is a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to visit. I had no expectations or prior information about this place, but I left thinking I wouldn't mind coming back here for a purposeful visit next time. Thank you for the meal.

This is a place in Higashinopporo, Ebetsu City, along Shikakudori street. It's a popular ramen shop among locals, with a variety of rice bowl dishes and set meals. When I arrived around 1 pm, the parking lot was empty except for my car. The owner was watching high school baseball intently at the counter. I ordered the "shio ramen" as usual and enjoyed watching the game. The ramen arrived in 7-8 minutes, with a clear soup and traditional Sapporo-style noodles. The soup was light with a slightly salty and flavorful broth. The noodles were the classic medium-thick curly Sapporo style. The toppings included plenty of boiled bean sprouts, chashu pork, bamboo shoots, seaweed, and green onions. Despite the affordable price of 550 yen for the ramen, the quality was solid. This local favorite shop also offers a variety of set meals and rice bowl dishes.

I had known about the existence of this restaurant for quite some time, but this time I happened to have some business nearby during lunchtime, so I decided to go in. Even though it was before the opening time at 11 o'clock, they warmly welcomed me. The interior of the restaurant had a traditional atmosphere that felt like a long-established ramen shop, run by an elderly couple. They simmer the pork bone broth without boiling it and carefully remove any impurities, resulting in a clear soy sauce ramen that they recommend. However, I went against their recommendation and ordered the miso ramen in a large portion. The soup, with no impurities, had a light yet deep flavor even with the miso taste, and all the ingredients and noodles were well-balanced with no strong flavors, making it delicious until the last bite. The chashu was tender and had a nice seasoning as well. The noodles were medium thickness and similar to straight curly noodles. In an industry where prices are increasing one after another, the fact that all three items cost only 550 yen is wonderful. This is the kind of restaurant that makes you want to continue supporting them in the future.

I happened to come across this place and decided to try it out. It's located near Ebetsu Urology, just a diagonal walk away. Surprisingly, the ramen is only 550 yen! They also offer rice bowl dishes using Nishiyama noodles at very reasonable prices. It's a great place for single men, families, or students, but not really suitable for a date. The interior has a nostalgic feel, similar to a local diner from the Showa era. It doesn't feel unclean, but it may not be everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I found it charming and comfortable. I tried the miso ramen, which was different from the usual stir-fried vegetable miso ramen, as they added boiled bean sprouts on top. The taste was average, but I liked the simplicity of it. Nowadays, it's hard to find a regular bowl of ramen for 550 yen. While fancy ramen for 800 yen is nice, having an affordable option like this is truly appreciated. They have two tatami seating areas, making it convenient for families to enjoy a casual meal. I hope this cozy atmosphere, created by the couple who runs the place, will continue for a long time.
