After about 5 years, I decided to visit Monja Yaki at Shitagawa Gatecar. I had made a reservation by phone a few days earlier, but suddenly one person couldn't make it, so I ended up going with my friend (who is also from Shitagawa!). When we arrived at Gatecar, we sat at a table with a hot plate, and I completely forgot how to cook Monja Yaki, feeling like a bird that forgot how to fly. Just when I was in a pinch, my friend (from Shitagawa) taught me how to cook it, saving me. I ordered "meat Monja" and "shrimp Monja" to eat. We also ordered "horse sashimi" and "potato mochi & pumpkin dumplings" as side dishes. In particular, the "horse sashimi" is a dish I had ordered 5 years ago, and when dipped in ginger soy sauce, it melts in your mouth, making it incredibly delicious. Of course, the Monja Yaki was delicious as well, so overall I was satisfied. I promised the landlady that I would visit again and left Gatecar.
