I bought some corn-filled kamaboko from Kamai Inari because it wasn't crowded like the one near Kamaboko. I forgot to take a picture, but I enjoyed eating it. They heat it up quickly after ordering, so you can eat it warm. It's nice that there are plenty of corn on the outside, and the inside is surimi. I might like it even more if the corn is kneaded into the dough. I also found the shrimp-filled one interesting. I think it's perfect for a quick bite before getting on a plane. Thank you for the meal!

While searching for souvenirs at the airport, I came across a shop selling Satsuma-age, which looked like something I could eat right there. I ended up getting Satsuma-age with hijiki seaweed and carrots in it. It had a great texture and delicious flavor, with a crunchy texture similar to lotus root. Overall, it was a tasty product.

I visited New Chitose Airport in April 2022 to pick up my daughter. I didn't need to buy any snacks as souvenirs at the airport, but I found a fish cake shop right across from Kamaboko shop "Kamaei" in Otaru, so I decided to buy some as a side dish for alcohol. I remembered a former subordinate from Monbetsu who once mentioned that the famous specialty from Monbetsu might be the Kamaboko from Detsuka. He said, "I usually use Kobayashi." I recalled that over 20 years ago, he brought me Kamaboko from Kobayashi. I think he also brought smoked mackerel from "Humor" as well. In Sapporo and Otaru, it's either "Kamaei" or "Ohyakurihara," but the Kamaboko from Okhotsk is also delicious. "Crab Mayo" 275 yen - This goes well with mayonnaise. "Cheese Roll" 165 yen - A classic item. "Vegetable Tempura" 165 yen - Contains carrots and hijiki. Compared to "Kamaei," the texture of the fish cake is firmer and chewier overall. The taste is slightly sweet. It's convenient to be able to buy them here at the airport without having to go all the way to Monbetsu.

I was strongly drawn to the photo of the kamaboko with sweet shrimp attached at the "Izumisuisan" store on the 2nd floor of New Chitose Airport, and before I knew it, I found myself in front of the store showcase. The kamaboko on display had sweet shrimp packed on the surface just like in the photo! I couldn't resist and bought one. I also purchased the reliable cheese kamaboko and the scallop kamaboko, which had a whole large scallop on top like a cake base. I started with a bite of the cheese kamaboko, and it was beyond delicious. The melted cheese and the savory kamaboko were a perfect combination. I couldn't help but try the shrimp as well, and it was amazing! The chewy texture of the shrimp filled my mouth. The kamaboko base was slightly sweet and had a great flavor. The scallop was surprisingly large, about 5 centimeters in diameter, and it was generously placed on top of the kamaboko, creating a striking appearance like a cake. Taking a bite of the scallop kamaboko was a challenge due to its size, but it was worth it. The kamaboko here is truly addictive. Another satisfying meal.

As Hokkaido's gateway, the airport sometimes has shops from areas outside Sapporo, and there are quite a few stores that make you go "huh?" It's not to say they're dull, but the airport tenant fees are quite high, and there seem to be various restrictions. It may be difficult for unprofitable stores to even open. The competition nearby is more famous, and the hurdles for opening a shop are high. Izutsuka Suisan is a company from Okhotsk Monbetsu, and it may not be very well-known. However, I think their fish cakes taste better than the ones from the store across the way. Fish cake souvenirs are often thought of as typical, and even though they cost around 500 yen each, they come with a big scallop inside, wrapped in fish cake. It's not cheap, but everyone seems to enjoy it. It might be perfect with beer.

I bought some fried kamaboko from Idezuka Suisan in Kitami. I got a variety pack since I was short on time today. It looks like there are 5 different types included. Hotate-shaped fried kamaboko: This seems to be their specialty. It looks like a scallop and actually has scallop inside. Crab mayo ball: Just crab and mayo. Hotate tempura: Another scallop flavor. Vegetable tempura: Standard vegetable kamaboko. Cheese tempura: Kamaboko with cheese inside. I bought crab balls and octopus balls last time and thought the texture was better than other kamaboko.

At New Chitose Airport, there are two famous kamaboko shops, "Izutsuka Suisan" and "Kamae," that you shouldn't miss if you're a fan of kamaboko. After visiting "Kamae," I decided to check out this shop as well. When I arrived, I saw kamaboko displayed in the showcase and couldn't decide which one to get. A friendly staff member recommended the "Hotahota Age" for 385 yen, which has snow crab and whole scallops inside. This product is actually a kamaboko made using scallop steak as its base. It's a bit pricey, but considering the whole scallops used, it's worth it. They kindly heated it up for me to eat on the spot. And the taste? Delicious! The scallops have a great texture, with the kamaboko complementing them perfectly. While "Kamae" focuses on kamaboko, "Izutsuka Suisan" seems to excel in adding value to the ingredients. Both shops are equally impressive, so I recommend visiting both. Enjoy!

New Chitose Airport shops. Looking for something to eat for lunch. I don't want to go on a business trip yet (TT) There are still few people at New Chitose Airport. It seems like almost all shops have reopened. Let's make the most of being here. Here you can eat freshly made fish cakes. I chose the cheese-wrapped ones. They are delicious. This goes well with beer. It's more like a snack than lunch. There is also a certain fish cake shop from Otaru nearby, so it might be good to compare the taste.

A friend who is familiar with New Chitose Airport recommended trying the kamaboko from Idezuka, saying it's delicious. I decided to check it out and found out that they have takeout options, but I chose to buy some as souvenirs instead. I got kamaboko with bacon and kamaboko with scallops for myself. When I got home and unpacked, I remembered that I had bought kamaboko. It was the perfect time to eat, so I tried the scallop kamaboko. It was a high-quality product with a whole scallop inside, and everyone who tried it said it was delicious. I immediately decided to buy it again. The bacon flavor had pepper mixed in, and although not as good as the scallop flavor, it was still delicious. It also pairs well with beer. I thought it would be nice to buy it when I arrive in Hokkaido and enjoy a hotel drink with beer and kamaboko. I might try it next time I go.笑

This is a shop of a long-established kamaboko store in Abashiri, Hokkaido, located inside New Chitose Airport. The showcase is filled with delicious-looking kamaboko. I decided to buy one Chibichi (¥165) and one Takoboru (¥70) on a whim. Chibichi is a kamaboko skewered with three small cheese balls. The fluffy kamaboko with mild cheese flavor can be enjoyed as a snack or paired with alcohol. Takoboru is a bite-sized kamaboko with a strong octopus flavor, light and delicious. Hokkaido is truly enjoyable... My boarding time is approaching, but I want to enjoy a little more.

I visited a shop in Monbetsu 2 years ago, but this is my first time purchasing at the nearby New Chitose Airport. This time, I bought cheese rolls, hotate (scallop) tempura, and crab mayo balls. I had tried the hotate tempura and crab mayo balls before. I didn't eat them on the spot, I brought them home. The hotate tempura still had a satisfying crunch, and although a bit pricey, I definitely want to buy it again. The crab mayo balls and cheese rolls were also delicious. However, freshly fried ones from Monbetsu were truly exceptional. If I have the chance, I would like to visit that shop again someday.

It was the final chapter of my enjoyable trip to Hokkaido, and I found myself at Chitose Airport. This time, the trip was packed with sightseeing and I was always pressed for time due to the long distances we had to cover. Looking back, I realized I didn't get to visit many of the restaurants I had bookmarked. However, I stumbled upon a familiar name, "Izutsuka Suisan," and decided to try their Crab Mayo dish. I had been wanting to try it for a while. When I ordered it, it arrived piping hot! I was surprised by how hot it was. I wanted to dig in right away, but I ended up eating it on the plane. Unfortunately, by the time I ate it, it had cooled down. Nevertheless, it still tasted delicious. The filling was generous and the flavor was great even when it was cold. I usually don't feel like eating processed food, but I regret not buying some as a souvenir. If I had eaten it while it was still hot, it would have been even more delicious. Thank you for the meal. I found out they also offer online shopping, so I've decided to give it a try.

New Chitose Airport souvenir series 4 Quickly choose souvenirs within a limited time. This shop sells fried kamaboko like "Kamaei," which has its main store in Otaru. Unlike "Kamaei," there was no line at this shop. The main store in Monbetsu has a rating of 3.51 on Tabelog. I bought: - Cheese roll (162 yen) - Scallop tempura (129 yen) - Octopus ball (140 yen) - Crab ball (140 yen) The fried kamaboko was firm and bouncy. In particular, the scallop tempura and octopus ball had a delicious flavor of the ingredients. The prices were reasonable too.

I purchased "Mega Sausage 378 yen" and "Shrimp Tempura 324 yen" at Izutsuka Suisan New Chitose Airport store and ate them at home. They are delicious as they are, but this time I tried grilling them in a frying pan. It may not be as good as freshly made, but it becomes even more delicious.

This is the New Chitose Airport branch of a famous kamaboko (fish cake) shop from Okhotsk Monbetsu. It seems like there is a divide in popularity between the products from Monbetsu and those from Kamaei in Otaru on the Japan Sea side. Looking at their website, you can see that they are particular about their ingredients. They offer scallop-shaped kamaboko and vegetable tempura, which are light and perfect as a snack with beer. It's also great with soy mayo. -----------------------------------------【Excerpt from official website】■ Basic Izutsuka Izutsuka Suisan has been making kamaboko with a focus on ingredients and manufacturing methods since its establishment in 1930. That's why it's delicious. Please try it for yourself. It's a specialty item. Fish 1: Fresh fish caught in the Monbetsu Port in the Okhotsk Sea Fish 2: Uses the highest quality Alaska surimi SSA. It's a bit pricey but personally, I prefer this one as it has more volume. This time, I bought "Mega Sausage" for 378 yen, "Shrimp Tempura" for 324 yen, and "Spicy Popeye" for 432 yen. They are all delicious and satisfying to eat.

Eating freshly fried tempura at the main store in Monbetsu is the best, but it's also delicious to buy and eat at home. The items in the photo are "Crab Mayo," "Mega Sausage," "Octopus Balls," and "Butter Potato."
