I stayed at a hotel in Asakusa for a business trip and came across a restaurant online that featured thick cuts of grilled beef tongue that looked delicious. Given the location, I thought it might cater to international tourists, but compared to a beef tongue shop in Sendai, the prices seemed comparable and not overly expensive. Around 6:30 PM, I passed by a departing customer and entered to find the restaurant empty, which made me a bit anxious. However, the interior was very clean and the staff was friendly. I ordered the recommended "Ultimate Beef Tongue Steak," which includes a cut from the tongue's base and the center. I learned that this is a branch of a famous restaurant in Shinjuku that is difficult to book, and they opened just a month and a half ago, so it felt like I came at a good time. The beef tongue was indeed thick and had a wonderful aroma. I enjoyed it with miso and grated yam. It was tender, juicy, and delicious. The soup and curry also had tongue in them—there was plenty of tongue! The side dishes were generous, and I appreciated that the rice was refillable. It exceeded my expectations. While it’s not a casual dinner price, it’s definitely a place I would consider when I want to enjoy something special or crave beef tongue. Thank you for the meal!

On October 26, 2024, a highly popular beef tongue specialty restaurant opened in Asakusa as its third location! Operated by Gyu-tan no Remon Co., Ltd., this restaurant specializes in thick-cut, charcoal-grilled beef tongue. The president and CEO is Mr. Kazuma Hara, with board members including Mr. Takafumi Horie, Mr. Hidetomi Imanishi, and Mr. Seiji Kawamura. "Gyu-tan no Remon" was founded in 2018 in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and relocated to its current spot in 2021, starting with the "Shinjuku Yakiniku Gyu-tan no Remon Sohonten." Following this, they opened the "Shinjuku Yakiniku Gyu-tan no Remon Osaka Main Store" on September 27, 2024, and then the "Gyu-tan no Remon Asakusa Store" on October 26, 2024, expanding nationwide. I heard that the third branch of a restaurant that is difficult to reserve in Shinjuku has opened in Asakusa, and I was led there by my daughter for my first visit. We made a reservation for around 6:30 PM. When I requested a window seat, they kindly agreed, and I greatly appreciated it! My daughter ordered the "Extreme" and "Thick Cut" set, while I opted for the "Extreme" along with lemon juice and lemonade. The set includes not only the main dish but also a curry with chunks of beef tongue, spicy miso with tongue tips, a soup, and grated yam, making it very luxurious. The main dish, "Extreme," features tender and juicy slices from the tongue's tip, while the "Thick Cut" offers a wonderful texture and meatiness, pairing perfectly with rice! We found ourselves reaching for each dish, and before we knew it, we had finished everything! Thank you for the delicious meal! Additionally, the hospitality here is outstanding! I believe this restaurant will definitely become popular, so I think now is the best time to visit before it gets crowded!

Gyutan no Lemon in Asakusa has opened its third branch, following the popular steak restaurant "Kiwami" in Shinjuku, on October. I went to check it out right away! The location of the restaurant is a bit tricky to find, but once you step inside, the atmosphere is spacious and bright. Compared to the bustling vibe of the Shinjuku branch, this one feels much more welcoming. The highlight of the menu is, of course, the "Kiwami" steak, which is grilled over binchotan charcoal. The thick, premium cuts of beef tongue are incredibly tender and juicy. You can also enjoy gyutan curry and gyutan meat miso, which means you’ll easily want to eat more rice. The service was quite pleasant, making for a wonderful lunch on my day off. By the way, the second branch opened in Osaka in September.

Today, at 2:00 PM, I visited "Gyutan Lemon Asakusa," located on the second floor opposite the JRA in Asakusa Rokku. Upon climbing the stairs and entering the restaurant, I found it to be very clean, having just had its grand opening on October 26. The seating appeared to accommodate around 40 people, making it a reasonably sized establishment. Before placing my order, a staff member provided an explanation, and I decided to order the "Ultimate Steak" for 3,280 yen, which includes six pieces. After placing my order, they grilled it for about 10 minutes before serving it. The meal included not only the beef tongue but also beef tongue soup, beef tongue curry, beef tongue meat miso, grated yam, and a salad. While the beef tongue itself was delicious, the beef tongue soup was particularly remarkable! Although 3,280 yen is a bit pricey for lunch, the taste made it worth it! It seemed that there were two people in the kitchen and three in the dining area, all providing attentive service, which I appreciated. Thank you for the meal!

For those who love beef tongue, this is a must-try! I enjoyed the shop's signature dish, which features the tongue's base cut. The meat was thick and so delicious that even one slice was satisfying. It seems this restaurant originally started in Shinjuku and has become quite popular, serving over 400 meals a day. However, since the Asakusa location has only been open for five days, not many people know about it yet, allowing me to enjoy my meal in a calm setting without any crowd.
