On October 26, 2024, a highly popular beef tongue specialty restaurant opened in Asakusa as its third location! Operated by Gyu-tan no Remon Co., Ltd., this restaurant specializes in thick-cut, charcoal-grilled beef tongue. The president and CEO is Mr. Kazuma Hara, with board members including Mr. Takafumi Horie, Mr. Hidetomi Imanishi, and Mr. Seiji Kawamura.
"Gyu-tan no Remon" was founded in 2018 in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and relocated to its current spot in 2021, starting with the "Shinjuku Yakiniku Gyu-tan no Remon Sohonten." Following this, they opened the "Shinjuku Yakiniku Gyu-tan no Remon Osaka Main Store" on September 27, 2024, and then the "Gyu-tan no Remon Asakusa Store" on October 26, 2024, expanding nationwide.
The company recruits franchise members and provides guidance to them, operating several locations including both direct-managed and franchise stores. The restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from the Tsukuba Express “Asakusa Station.” Inside, it features 4 counter seats and 42 table seats, providing a bright and open atmosphere suitable for small to large groups.
Operating hours are lunch from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM (last order at 2:30 PM) and dinner from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM (last order at 9:00 PM), with Tuesdays as the regular day off. Reservations can be made by phone or online via Tabelog. Payment methods include cash, credit cards, QR payments, and electronic money.
The most popular menu item is the "Signature 'Kiwami' Steak," made from the finest part of the beef tongue, known as "tan-moto," cut into super-thick slices and grilled slowly over high-quality binchotan charcoal. While many diners opt for beef tongue, the ability to procure such a large quantity of it, even though it is imported, is impressive.
For rice, they use a blend created seasonally by Hachidaime Gibei, a renowned rice producer in Kyoto, which is cooked quickly in a large pot at high heat to bring out its natural sweetness, perfectly complementing the beef tongue. In Shinjuku, most visitors are Chinese, and the restaurant has received many positive remarks, so it's certain that it will also gain global popularity in the tourist-favored Asakusa.
