On a cold rainy day in the middle of December, I suddenly craved curry udon and decided to visit the "Passion Udon Sanshu Shin-Osaka" located near the East Mikuni Station in Osaka. I arrived at the restaurant, which I had visited last October, and ordered the following: - Curry udon with fried oysters and soft-boiled egg (1150 yen) - A little bit of rice (100 yen) - A little bit of dashi (free) - Udon noodles (1.5 servings, plus 50 yen) The curry udon was a perfect combination of crispy fried oysters and smooth udon noodles, all mixed in a flavorful broth made with katsuobushi, kombu, and 20 different spices. The oysters were plump and delicious, and the udon noodles had a great texture. After finishing the udon and oysters, I mixed the remaining curry with a little bit of rice and dashi to make a delicious "curry porridge" to end the meal. Overall, the meal was satisfying and worth the 30-minute journey to East Mikuni. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I had the Chikudama Bukkake Udon with 1.5 balls and Wakame topping for 1250 yen. The udon had a powerful appearance with the towering Chikudama. The noodles had a good firmness, smoothness, and a nice flavor from the powder. The broth was a bit sweet for my taste, but overall, it was delicious.

Recently, I was craving curry udon so badly that I stopped by after work. I had one serving of kakiage curry udon and a side of egg over rice. The sweet and spicy curry broth, crispy and juicy kakiage, and perfectly chewy udon noodles made me very satisfied!

On Saturday, we went to a Chinese restaurant for lunch but found a long line. So we decided to switch to another restaurant nearby. He ordered Chicken Tempura Curry Rice for 1150 yen, while I ordered Chicken Tempura Cold Noodles for 1000 yen. The curry here seems to be popular, but I preferred the cold noodles because it was hot outside. The noodles were firm and the broth was delicious. Today, I went to lunch with my colleagues and three junior coworkers in Kobe. As expected, there was a line at the popular restaurant when we arrived at noon. We were third in line, but since we were a group of five, the small restaurant asked us to split into a group of three and a group of two. We sat down first with the initial three people, and then quickly connected the seats when the next one became available. We ordered the Japanese-style meat udon set (chicken rice) for 950 yen. I had planned to try the curry udon next time, but it was too hot for that. The udon had a firm texture typical of Sanuki udon, with cold broth and slightly sweet Japanese beef that was delicious.

It was brought to me in a few minutes after sitting at the counter. The soup was quite light, the noodles were thin with a good texture. The spiciness was just right with a hint of sweetness. The set came with rice, pickles, and a small salad, so I was satisfied with the portion. However, the rice was quite soft and unevenly cooked, which was a bit disappointing. It might be better to order the curry without rice and add toppings.

I visited for lunch on a regular day. When I arrived around 12:15, there was already a line of about 10 people, and I had to wait for about 20 minutes before finally being seated. I ordered my meal while waiting in line, so it arrived at my table within 5 minutes. It was my first time there, so I went for the popular curry kamatama udon set. I had read reviews mentioning that it was on the sweeter side, but for me, the level of spiciness in the curry at lunchtime was just right and quite delicious. By around 12:40, the line had disappeared, and it became easy to get a table, so I recommend going a bit earlier or after 12:30.

It is a shop located between Shin-Osaka Station and Higashi-Mikuni Station (a bit closer to Higashi-Mikuni). I visited during lunch on a weekday. There were 5 people waiting outside, 3 people and 2 people. As I looked at the menu written on the sign, I couldn't decide what to order. Curry udon sounds good, but I also can't resist the meat udon or kitsune udon... Oh, there's katsudon! Why are the rice dishes at udon and soba shops so appealing? As I struggled between curry udon and katsudon in my mind, I suddenly noticed a sign next to the lunch menu that said, "+200 yen to change to curry udon." Yes! When I silently cheered inside, the staff guided me. It felt efficient to be able to order directly with the staff, and I felt happy that I saved the staff the trouble of guiding me again. Am I the only one who thinks that? When I thought about the calories, a sense of guilt crossed my mind, but I decided to make up for it by adjusting my dinner. Once my inner conflict was calmed, curry udon and katsudon arrived on one tray! First, I tried the curry udon. The curry broth was about half of the bowl, and the firm noodles were visible. Chopped green onions in the center. The meat was placed next to the green onions, but it wasn't distributed throughout. When I ate the noodles, they had a good texture, not too hard, and the curry broth was light and flavorful, with spices kicking in as I savored it. It wasn't too spicy and was easy to eat. As for the katsudon, it was a bit disappointing. The egg was slightly overcooked for my liking, and the meat was a bit tough. The rice soaked in the broth was delicious. Next time, I think I'll order a rice dish that isn't katsudon. Thank you for the meal!

If you want to fully savor the deliciousness of udon, this is the dish to go for! They also offer other variations like Oyster Fry Curry Udon and Black Wagyu Bukkake Udon. The location being in a business district may cater more to those looking for a hearty meal. You can also add extra noodles - 1.5 servings for an additional 50 yen or 2 servings for an extra 100 yen. The Bukkake dipping sauce has a slightly sweet taste, which I personally enjoy. The udon noodles are not pure white but have bits of whole wheat, giving them a chewy texture and a fragrant aroma of wheat. The large pieces of bamboo shoot tempura are crispy on the outside and fluffy and hot on the inside. The egg tempura is half-cooked, following the "Kama Take style." The balance of toppings like kaiware, green onions, and seaweed is excellent, and a squeeze of lemon enhances the flavors. While the Curry Udon looked tempting, I stuck with my favorite, the Bukkake Udon. I feel like I want to eat Bukkake Udon every day in this season. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I visited for lunch and since there were so many options, I decided to try the curry udon with rice and salad. It was my first time trying it. The curry udon was slightly spicy with a thick broth, chewy noodles with a soft texture. There weren't many toppings, but adding rice at the end made it a satisfying meal. It is recommended to avoid peak hours around 1 pm when there are more empty seats. The menu mainly consists of curry and dashi udon. There is a wide variety of options with tempura. Ordered the chicken tempura rice bowl and udon set for 850 yen. It was mentioned that it may take some time, but surprisingly arrived in about 7 minutes. The set included 4 pieces of chicken tempura, large leaf tempura, and egg tempura. The rice portion was a bit small. Chose cold udon with wakame and tempura bits. The udon was delicious, with a slightly chewy texture. The flavor of the noodles stood out. The chicken tempura had a good marinade, and the egg tempura was perfectly fried. The service was excellent, and the udon was top-notch. Overall, had a pleasant dining experience.

Unable to resist, I headed to the popular Passion Udon Sanshu after the meeting. I arrived before opening time, but there were already customers waiting. As soon as they opened, the place quickly filled up. - Curry Udon Set: 900 yen The set includes curry udon, salad, rice, and pickles. The curry udon was not spicy and it coated the udon noodles nicely. The udon noodles were chewy and delicious, typical of Sanuki udon. I finished by pouring rice into the soup. It was a satisfying lunch that fulfilled my curry cravings.

Personally, this is the best udon restaurant in Shin-Osaka. Their curry udon is famous, but their regular udon is also delicious. This time, I had the chilled tempura udon with salmon rice set for 800 yen, which is still a carb-heavy meal. The noodles have a nice texture, not too firm. I could eat them easily. I should have gotten a large portion. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the Katsu Curry Tamago and it took about 20 minutes for it to be served after placing my order at the opening time of 11:30. The Kamatama udon that arrived was coated with a thick layer of egg. The Katsu Curry on top had a simple and ordinary appearance. When I tried it, it was just as ordinary as it looked, lacking in spiciness and any special flavor. The udon noodles were not too firm, making it easy to eat but some might find it lacking. Overall, if you're not specifically looking for curry, it might be better to order a regular Kamatama or Bukkake. My companion's Chiku Tamaten Bukkake looked quite delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I went for lunch on February 21, 2022. This restaurant has been around since my time working in Osaka 10 years ago, but I didn't realize they focused so much on curry. In addition to curry udon, they also serve delicious curry rice. I ordered the kashiwa tempura set for ¥950. You can choose from various sauces for the tempura, such as salt, tempura dipping sauce, ponzu, tartar, and chili sauce. This time I chose warm udon, but I think the cold udon with the firm texture typical of Sanuki udon would have been even better.

I visited this place, which is quite rare, without Bacchus and alcohol, during the day. It's pretty normal, right? I was nervous about what to do if I suddenly ordered beer during the day. What I had was their specialty, Kamatama Curry Udon with Chikuwa Tempura for 1000 yen. The Chikuwa Tempura was a decent size. The Kamatama Curry Udon is probably made by mixing a whole egg and coating the udon with it, then adding curry roux. By the way, the curry roux was very delicious. The spiciness and sweetness of the spices are well balanced at a high level. As for the udon, it was of the standard thickness for this type of udon shop, and it was seasoned well. Also, because the egg is mixed in, when you slurp the udon, it feels very mild. Overall, I thought this curry udon was very well put together. Next time, I want to try the regular curry udon without the egg.

For lunch, I went to Jounetsu Udon Sanshu near Higashi-Mikuni Station. It had been two years since my last visit. I ordered the Kashiwa-Ten Donburi lunch set with udon. You can choose between hot and cold udon, and I chose hot. For an additional 200 yen, you can also have curry udon, which is a great deal. The full-sized bowl of donburi and udon was very filling. The Kashiwa-Ten had a tender texture, with a crispy coating that enhanced the flavor of the chicken. The sauce was delicious, not too sweet, and there were three generous pieces of topping. The Tamago-Ten had a perfectly runny yolk that added to its deliciousness. The udon came with toppings of green onions, seaweed, and tempura bits, allowing you to enjoy the simple flavor of the broth and udon. The soup, with a bonito base, was gentle yet rich in flavor. It was comforting and tasty. The udon itself had a good texture and flavor, complementing the broth perfectly. All of this for 850 yen - great taste, great value at Jounetsu Udon Sanshu. East Sangenjaya Station's underground udon shop is excellent. It is currently open only for lunch on weekdays. I ordered the Curry Kama-tama for 900 yen. I asked for less noodles. The noodles are medium thick and have a strong texture. The egg is half-cooked and mixes well. The curry has a rich beef flavor with a hint of sweetness. When mixed, the curry and egg blend perfectly. It was my first time trying the Curry Kama-tama, and it was incredibly delicious.
