In the following week after December 2018, my wife and son will be returning from Obihiro. So, I might not be able to go out for drinks as freely as before, which is why I decided to visit "Kita no Robata Chako" restaurant. When I saw the illuminated sign, I thought the name might come from "charcoal (sumi) grilling" but in reality, it might be from "Chako's Coastal Story." The music playing inside the restaurant, all Southern All Stars songs, further reinforced this idea. Now, let's talk about "Chako's Coastal Story." Many of you may be familiar with this song, a story of two young people falling in love despite one of them having stomach cancer. The lyrics are so fitting for a medical drama theme song, especially lines like "close your eyes, open your heart." Due to certain circumstances, I will refrain from including "just kidding!! (lol)" in this review. Please understand, Mr. Naoki Hyakuta. Southern All Stars have many other great songs as well, like "When we look at each other, we can't speak honestly," a classic Southern hit. Of course, there's also the song inspired by the former left-back of the Japanese national team, "Tsunami." Lines like "I know I'm scared of Tsunami's loneliness" make you wonder if Tsunami Toshifumi is really that lonely. Just kidding!! (lol) Is it okay to include "just kidding!! (lol)" here too? This is not meant to mock Tsunami Toshifumi, please understand, Mr. Naoki Hyakuta. Another favorite song of chappytsum is "Even 24/7, I say I love you," another iconic Southern track. This song brought Mana Kana's sister's eccentric behavior to light. "Mana, biting her horn," just kidding!! (lol) This is not meant to mock Mikura Mana, please understand, Mr. Naoki Hyakuta. The appetizer... roasted duck. It's greasy but delicious. Do you like duck? Just kidding!! (lol) Oden... we ordered daikon radish, fish cake, and deep-fried tofu. The grilled flying fish broth is strong and flavorful. While some may prefer a lighter taste, chappytsum enjoys this bold flavor. The daikon radish is well-infused and tasty. The fish cake is large, and the deep-fried tofu is standard. Japan's number one croquette... it's huge! The restaurant claims it's their "back alley specialty, no seasoning needed." So, I'll try it without any sauce. The croquette has a hint of butter flavor. The filling is slightly loose, but it adds to the depth of flavor. It's really good. Hiro-chan's salted fried chicken... back when I was single, I used to eat Hiro-chan's salted fried chicken three times a week. So, when I saw it on the menu, I had to order it. It's freshly fried, and one bite... Wow, this is the real deal! It's so delicious that I can't stop eating! The female staff was also cute, so this is definitely a favorite spot for me.
