It's lunchtime at Sapporo Station, and I decided to head west after leaving the station building. I was considering trying "Ramen Jiro" today, but then I saw a sign saying "Lunch now available" and changed my plans to go to "Wagao" instead. Outside the restaurant, there was a board advertising takeout specials like the "Hikoma Pork Burger for 550 yen" and bento boxes starting at 420 yen. It was around 12 o'clock when I entered the restaurant, and I sat at the counter by the wall in a cozy half-booth seating style. The lunch menu included items like "Fried Chicken Set, Ginger Pork Set" for 580 yen + tax, and "Chicken Nanban, Miso Mackerel, Pork Cutlet Set" for 680 yen. Each set came with rice, miso soup, and a soft drink. I ordered the "Seafood Bowl for 980 yen" and received a tray with the bowl, pickles, miso soup, salad, simmered pork, soy sauce, and a soy sauce dish. The seafood bowl contained yellowtail, white fish, scallops, sweet shrimp, and salmon, all arranged with large slices of daikon radish and decorative carrot cuts. The freshness of the ingredients was decent, but the lack of lean tuna left me unsatisfied. The salad vegetables were crisp, and the saltiness of the simmered pork and miso soup was just right. The separate tax payment was a bit of a downside, but the lunch menu in the 500 yen range seemed like a good deal. They accept PayPay. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.
