I visited the shop around 4 pm on a weekday. There were 8 people waiting in front of the shop, and only 2 groups were allowed inside at a time. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I was able to enter the shop. Inside, there was a showcase with cakes and chocolates, and along the glass window, there were baked goods displayed. All the cakes looked delicious, and I ended up buying 4 items, trying 2 of them. The "Ueno Mountain Mont Blanc" had custard cream on top of the cake, surrounded by whipped cream and coated with chestnut glaze. The chestnut glaze had a subtle sweetness, complementing the custard cream and whipped cream nicely. The "Kumamoto" cake had a chocolate mousse with chocolate cream coating. The mousse and cream were rich and delicious, with a deep chocolate flavor. The chestnut also had a natural sweetness.

I stopped by during a walk in Yanaka, it was a revisit after a long time. The location is a bit hard to find, near Yanaka Cemetery. I bought orange mousse, chocolate cake, Mont Blanc, dome-shaped chocolate cake, and passion fruit and cassis rare cheesecake. They also served lemonade in the store. I brought them home and shared with my family. The desserts had a subtle sweetness and a sophisticated taste with alcohol. They were all very delicious. There were many other cakes and mousses I wanted to try. I will definitely visit again next time!

I am looking for gourmet food that I can take out to boost my motivation for walking. Walking distance to the destination: 6.0km Visit time: 1:20pm Number of people in line: 4 Waiting time: 5 minutes I have been interested in this place for a while and finally had the opportunity to visit as the weather was suitable for takeout. Among the many delicious cakes, I purchased the Ueno Mountain Mont Blanc for 700 yen. When I brought it home, the sweetness of the chestnut, sponge, and cream were all carefully made and very delicious. Especially the chestnut paste seemed to bring out the goodness of chestnuts even more than eating chestnuts themselves. I will visit again. Thank you for the meal!

Conveniently located near Nippori Station. I suddenly felt like eating a lot of Mont Blanc. When thinking about the best place in Tokyo, this must be it. I arrived in time for the 10 o'clock opening. I could see Chef Inamura squeezing out the chestnut cream for the Mont Blanc through the glass window that gave a clear view of the kitchen. Inamura Shozo has many chocolate-based products, and I couldn't decide which one to choose, so I ended up buying three different kinds. The Chocolat du Chocolat was the best. Ueno's Yama no Mont Blanc, tax included 700 yen. This shop's specialty. The outer chestnut cream is exceptionally delicious. While Mont Blanc is usually piped out thinly, this shop makes it into a band about 1 cm wide. Inside, there's whipped cream, custard cream, finely chopped chestnuts, and a thin sponge. Soft and smooth. I had thought that meringue would be a good base for Mont Blanc, but a thin sponge like Inamura Shozo's is also good. Chocolat du Chocolat, tax included 700 yen. Soft chocolate mousse layered with rich chocolate and a dense gateau chocolat, creating a cake with different textures. Black Dandy, tax included 640 yen. A basic chocolate cake. Small but heavy with a satisfying bite. Rich. Red Apple Jelly, tax included 710 yen. Apple jelly with grapefruit pulp and white blancmange inside. (The blancmange is completely hidden by the apple jelly) Kumamoto, tax included 710 yen. Chestnuts inside a chocolate cake. Soft and gooey. The brown glaze covering the top is sticky and gooey. Inamura Shozo's chocolate cakes were all heavy and rich.

This shop is famous for its chocolate. It was still hot outside, so there were only two groups of people inside around lunchtime, making it easy to get a table. The complimentary lemonade upon entering was much appreciated on a hot day. It was delicious. The display case was filled with chocolate cakes, priced around 700 yen each (excluding items like cream puffs). I decided to buy the chocolate cake and Mont Blanc without hesitation. I also purchased an orange cake, a limited edition matcha mousse, a tear-shaped lemon mousse, a chocolate cake (shown in the third photo), and a cream puff. All of them had a mousse and chocolate filling inside, with a gentle sweetness that wasn't too overpowering. The chocolate in all of them was delicious. My husband enjoyed the chocolate cake, while I preferred the refreshing balance of acidity and chocolate in the orange cake (which had a hint of chocolate inside to complement the orange flavor). The Mont Blanc was not the creamy type with lots of whipped cream, but rather had a mousse or custard-like filling with an elegant sweetness from the chestnut. I would like to try them again. If you're looking for an intensely rich Mont Blanc, this might be slightly lacking for you. The cakes here are not about various textures, but more about a cohesive blend of mousse and chocolate, with a well-balanced and easy-to-eat flavor profile.

From Nippori Station, head towards Yanaka Ginza and turn just before Seven Eleven to find a French pastry shop called Patisserie Chocolatier Inamura Shozo. When I arrived on a Sunday shortly after opening, there were about 5 groups waiting in line. The store only allows 2 groups inside at a time, so I leisurely waited outside while looking at the showcase. Unfortunately, photography inside the store is not allowed, which was a bit disappointing because I couldn't remember which cake I wanted to try next. Inside, they offer complimentary lemonade to enjoy while browsing the beautifully displayed chocolates in the showcase, including classic chocolates and caramel almond castella. You can also watch them making cakes next to the store, which was impressive. The store seems to be takeout only, as there is no seating available. I managed to get the limited edition fig tart that I was aiming for, as I love figs. It was a bit messy while transferring it to a plate, but even as a takeout, the cake maintained its beautiful appearance and the sweetness of the fig was delightful. They accept credit card payments for purchases over a certain amount.

I usually always order chocolate desserts, but this time I tried the popular Mont Blanc and the seasonal recommendation, fig tart! The chocolate cake called Kumamoto also had chestnuts in it. The fig cake was not too sweet, allowing the natural sweetness of the figs to stand out. All three desserts were delicious and I am looking forward to going back again.

I love chestnuts, so I can't wait for autumn to come. I get excited when Mont Blanc and chestnut sweets start appearing. During the summer, I tend to avoid buying cakes to take home, but sometimes I still crave sweets. Today's purchases: Dome Chocolat $700, Ueno Mountain Mont Blanc $700, Chocolate Cake $640. They offer fruit-infused water in the store, which is a great treat during the hot days. The cakes are large and have a perfect level of sweetness. It's almost time for the hard-to-find Hagi Mont Blanc season to begin. Hopefully, it won't become a rarity this year!

I visited the long-established French pastry shop, Patisserie Chocolatier Inamura Shozo, located in Nippori. It is a renowned pastry shop in Japan. Currently, they seem to offer only takeout service. Chef Inamura was still energetically working in the kitchen! It was great to see him in good health. On this day, I had a strawberry roll cake and the Mont Blanc from Ueno. Personally, I preferred the Mont Blanc! I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the delicious treats!

Inamurashozo in Nippori Ueno. Mont Blanc 700, Dome Chocolate 700, Cream Puff 390. Lucky to get in without waiting in line. The complimentary lemonade was a nice touch. Delicious♡ The Mont Blanc here is a must-have. I was drawn to the cherry flavor, but I regret choosing chocolate in the summer. Next time, I'll go for the wheat-free chocolate cake. The cream puff was just expensive.

Every time I passed by Nippori, I wanted to visit Patisserie Chocolatier Inamura Shozo, but there was always a long line from the corner, so I ended up giving up each time. Fortunately, perhaps due to the scorching heat of the season, I was able to enter the shop without waiting this time. At the entrance of the shop, there was a fruit-infused water server, and I was told to help myself to some delicious fruit water. I am truly grateful for that. I really wanted to try the fresh cakes, but I couldn't take them home, so I ended up getting a classic chocolate pound cake, and three chocolates (the most popular one is the Yanaka with ginger and milk chocolate, Uji matcha with white chocolate ganache coated in black chocolate, and Passion Mango with white ganache coated in black chocolate). The chocolates were incredibly delicious. It's amazing to be able to enjoy such delicious chocolates so easily in Japan. The classic chocolate was also perfect, with just the right balance of chocolate intensity and pound cake texture. I can't wait to come back in the fall and line up for some fresh cakes. Thank you for the wonderful treat.

Located a short walk from either Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line Nippori Station or JR Nippori Station, this shop was selected as one of the top 100 sweets shops in 2023. With its charming exterior of white walls and a red roof, and a bright interior with large glass windows, the shop emphasizes on bringing out the taste of the ingredients in their desserts. The renowned chef, Inamura, who has won various awards, creates a variety of cakes and chocolates that all look delicious. I chose the cream puff, which was handed to me in a paper bag for takeaway. Despite accidentally crushing it on the way home, the taste was still amazing. The flavors and quality of the ingredients were exceptional, leaving me fully satisfied. Pound cakes can also be ordered online for delivery. The service from the staff was refined and excellent. It's clear that good service is just as important as taste when it comes to food. A great shopping experience truly enhances the taste of the food.

I had some errands in Tanaka Ginza and stopped by hoping there wouldn't be a long line, and luckily there wasn't. It seems like it's the season for it, as there was no line and entering was easy. This time of year, they have lemonade at the entrance for you to enjoy freely, which is nice. Every year around the end of September, I try to buy the Hagi Mont Blanc, but it's always a challenge and hard to get. This time, I bought a pound cake that I can carry around at room temperature. I didn't know that taking photos inside the store was not allowed, so I apologize. If I didn't have plans after, I would have liked to buy the famous Yama no Mont Blanc in Ueno. I might try to challenge myself with the Hagi Mont Blanc again this year.

The elderly man from the minced cutlet shop showed me a thermometer. It read 40.5 degrees, with a body that looked like dried squid, Inamura Shozo-san arrived. I was comforted by the free water server. "What is this!? It's delicious! Is this sports drink!?" It seemed to be lemonade. It was too delicious for something free. I drank three cups. The black cake was delicious. Just the free juice alone is a 5.0 rating. Haha.

I went to a popular shop and tried their cakes. I bought the Rare Cheesecake Passion Framboise for 690 yen and the Matcha Chocolate for 710 yen to go. The cakes were very delicious. The Rare Cheesecake Passion Framboise was especially tasty. The Matcha Chocolate was a bit too sweet for my liking. They also offered complimentary lemonade in the shop, which was delicious.

I wanted to eat chocolate cake after a long time, so I came here. Only up to 2 groups can enter the store at a time. Those with reservations are not counted in this number and will be guided in first from the side. The free homemade lemonade in the store is delicious! Be sure to try it! I ordered the "Ueno Mountain Mont Blanc" for 700 yen, one of the representative sweets of this shop. The chestnut cream is not too rich, giving a different texture from the piped Mont Blanc. It gives the impression of a lighter, more balanced Mont Blanc rather than a rich and impactful one. I prefer rich and impactful Mont Blanc, so I felt a little unsatisfied. The "Kumamoto" for 710 yen has a very rich chocolate cream. It is so rich that you feel like you're really eating chocolate. Why Kumamoto? The naming is too cool haha. The chocolate cake for 640 yen was completely different from the Kumamoto cake, you could clearly see the difference. It was also rich, but the aftertaste didn't linger, making this cake the most delicious. I knew it, but all the cakes were flavors I'd rather eat in winter than summer. I regret not chilling them more in the fridge before eating, as the chocolate was a bit runny. I think I'll come back in a cooler season next time. Thank you for the meal.

"Dome Chocolat," "Tears of Dew," and "Yanaka Choco" were all elegant and rich in flavor. The Dome Chocolat had cherry, Tears of Dew had lemon, and Yanaka Choco had ginger, each with a unique accent that made them delicious. It was a bit heavy to eat them all in one day, didn't really think about balance. They even provided lemonade for the people waiting in line, which was a nice touch. It might be reflected in their creations too. It was a wonderful shop. Thank you for the meal.

I bought a Mont Blanc for 700 yen. I fell in love with its unique way of squeezing and cuteness at first sight. It was as big as a fist and very satisfying to eat. It was filled with lots of fresh cream inside, and the combination of the Mont Blanc around it and the bitterness of the chestnut in the center was exquisite. There was hardly any sponge, and I enjoyed a luxurious Mont Blanc. I would like to try a different cake next time. The glamorous Western-style building, unified in red and white, is a stylish shop, and it's conveniently located right next to Nippori Station, so it's easy to visit.

Sunset Hill is a 2-minute walk from Nippori Station, making it easy to find! The staff are very friendly. You can see them making the cakes inside the store, and when the cakes in the showcase run out, they bring out more. The staff are extremely nice! The service is amazing! When I entered the store and it was hot, they offered me lemonade that was placed at the entrance. It tasted homemade and was very refreshing. This was a very pleasant surprise! The Ueno Mountain Mont Blanc for 700 yen has an old-fashioned Mont Blanc feel, and the special strawberry roll for 560 yen uses strawberry jam that is not too sour and has a chewy texture. Photography is not allowed inside the store, and only up to 2 people are allowed at a time, so I had to wait outside.

Arrived at the shop at almost exactly 11 am on Wednesday morning. The shop was open and there were no guests yet. I was planning to eat a cream puff, but when I saw the word "Maritozzo," it brought back nostalgic memories and I was drawn to it! I purchased it for 560 yen. Since there weren't many people outside, I secretly walked and ate it while looking around. It was incredibly delicious! It felt a bit expensive, but the taste was worth it! Thank you for the meal - I will definitely visit again! ^ ^

Inamura Shozo is located a 3-minute walk from Nippori Station. Foodlog rating: 3.88 stars. Inamura Shozo is run by Chef Shozo Inamura, the captain of the Japanese national team at the Coupe du Monde, the World Cup of Pastry, in 1993. Even after 30 years, Chef Inamura can still be seen in the kitchen, which adds to the charm of the restaurant. The staff is attentive and the customers trust in the quality of the cakes. It's important to me personally to see the face of the creator or owner, not only in patisseries but in any kind of establishment.
I visited on a cloudy Saturday around 1 PM with 2 groups of 4 customers already there. The shop can only accommodate 2 groups at a time, so I had to wait for a table. The display case still had all the items available, as they are constantly making fresh cakes.
- Ueno Mountain Mont Blanc (700 yen): A signature item of the shop, with layers of sponge, custard, cream, and chestnut cream. Slightly sweet and delicious as always. Rating: 3.8 stars.
- Kumamoto (710 yen): A chocolate cake with rich and smooth chocolate cream. One of my favorites. Rating: 4.0 stars.
- Dome Chocolat (700 yen): Another favorite, with smooth chocolate cream and a hint of cherry acidity. Perhaps the amount of cherry has decreased. Rating: 3.9 stars.
- Cocoa 80 (710 yen): A limited edition cake with white chocolate and a balanced cocoa flavor. Rating: 3.6 stars.
A renowned shop for chocolate and chestnut cakes. Still delicious as ever.
