I visited the restaurant around 12pm on a holiday. I was worried about the long line because it's a popular place, but there were only 5 people ahead of me, which was less than I expected. The interior of the restaurant seemed to only have a counter with 5 seats. I waited for about 40 minutes before being seated. When I left, there were around 10 people waiting, so I guess I timed it well. I ordered: - Today's curry set with lamb and oyster mushrooms for 1250 yen - Small side dish of sardine meatball curry for 280 yen - Extra large portion of rice for 100 yen My companion ordered: - Chicken curry set for 1100 yen The curry had a perfect blend of flavor and spices, enhanced by the quality of the ingredients. Everything was carefully prepared, beautifully presented, and truly delicious. The spiciness level was almost non-existent. The sardine meatballs had a unique flavor that balanced well with the curry, but my companion, who doesn't like oily fish, didn't enjoy it as much. It's interesting how tastes can vary. The rice was a special blend of grains, which paired wonderfully with the curry. I tried a bit of my companion's chicken curry and it was also amazing. We followed the instructions on the table on how to eat the curry, mixing different types together, and finished every last bite. It was a delightful meal, and I look forward to visiting again before the end of the year.

I arrived just after 1 pm and managed to slip in as the last two customers. There were about four groups waiting ahead of me, but since I was dining alone, they let me go first. I ordered the Pork Vindaloo curry. Each curry had a strong blend of spices, but when mixed together, it was incredibly delicious. Personally, I found the mix of Pork Vindaloo and vegetable curry to be exceptionally tasty.

Access: 1 minute walk from the A-1 exit of Morishita Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line. I had been curious about this restaurant for quite some time. I arrived at 10:50 and was the first customer. There were two chairs set up in front of the entrance, which was in the shade, so waiting for 40 minutes was not a problem. The menu is based on South Indian meals with a Japanese twist, known as "Fukagawa Indian set meal." I ordered the Iwashi (sardine) Tsukune Curry Set for 1150 yen, with an additional side dish of Chicken Curry for 300 yen. Today's curry options were: various types of Kinoko (mushroom) Keema Curry for 350 yen. I wanted to try all three set meals and side dishes, but there was a limit of two per person since it was my first time there and I didn't know which ones were delicious. I was a bit disappointed about that rule. I skipped the Pork Vindaloo. The Iwashi Tsukune Curry had a mild flavor with not much spiciness, and the rice was multigrain, so it seemed healthy. It was tasty, but nothing particularly special. However, it was nice to be able to try different varieties and enjoy the presentation. The chai tea was a bit too weak, but maybe that's how it's supposed to be. *Note: I later tried chai tea at another restaurant and found out that it is supposed to be that way. I'm glad I went there once. Thank you for the meal!

I love curry, so I finally visited Tsuki to Kame-san, which I had been curious about for a while. I arrived around 13:15 and there was one group of 2 people waiting. We were seated in about 10 minutes. The interior of the restaurant is small with about 5 or 6 counter seats, but each seat was comfortably spaced out. I ordered the sardine meatball curry (1150 yen) and chai (300 yen). The curry was served in about 15 minutes. First, I tried the sardine meatball curry. The meatballs were fluffy, and the curry seasoning wasn't overpowering with spices, but you could still taste them, giving it a Japanese-style feel. The papadum was crispy with a hint of saltiness, which complemented the dish well. However, the most surprising part was the rasam. It was spicy with a good balance of tomato acidity, almost as delicious as the rasam from the famous restaurant Sitar. The portion of rice was sufficient, but adding a small side dish might be just right. The chai was not very sweet, but had a slight hint of spices, making it a perfect drink to relax after the meal. Overall, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Visited on the weekend. The restaurant was full, with a line of about 15 people. It's a popular curry restaurant with a rating close to 3.9 on Tabelog, likely to be selected as one of the top 100 restaurants. It's a bit difficult to visit as they are only open for lunch three days a week. It seems to be run by a couple, and the menu, with cute illustrations of how to enjoy the food, shows a sense of style. The cozy and homey atmosphere inside. They mainly serve set meals with curry, and you can also order small side dishes of other curries to enjoy a variety. This time, I ordered the "Pork Vindaloo Set Meal" and the "Chicken Curry". The set meal includes the main curry, seasonal vegetable curry, rasam (tomato-flavored soup curry), achaar, bean senbei, salad, and plenty of food. The rice is a special variety from Nagasaki. The Pork Vindaloo curry has a tangy and slightly spicy yet deep and flavorful taste. The Chicken Curry has a creamy finish with a hint of coconut. Honestly, both were very delicious with generous chunks of meat. Following the "delicious way to eat", I mixed the curries and finished by mixing them with the soup curry for a risotto-like experience. It was a satisfying and delicious curry set meal that lives up to its popularity. The taste of the curry, value for money, and atmosphere were all great. Highly recommended.

I visited this restaurant for the first time for lunch. I drove there and after circling around for about three times following the map, I finally found it hidden in a back alley! I parked at a nearby coin parking lot and walked for about 5 minutes to get to the restaurant. Luckily, there was no wait, but the inside was full so I had to wait for about 10 minutes outside before being seated. I had a hard time choosing between the Pork Vindaloo and the Sardine Tsumire, but I went with the Tsumire! It wasn't as spicy as I thought, and the Tsumire was fluffy and went really well with the curry. I'm satisfied with the taste!

I finally visited the curry restaurant I've been wanting to go to for lunch. I couldn't go on Sunday because they are closed, so I went at 12:10 on a weekday. There were 2 people ahead of me in line. It was tough waiting in the scorching sun for 20 minutes. I had the chicken curry set meal. The curry seemed to have less spice than typical Indian curry...? It had a light flavor. The portion size, including the rice, was a bit small. Thank you for the meal.

A popular curry restaurant located near Morishita Station. They offer a dish called Fukagawa Indian set meal, which is a Japanese-style meal inspired by Indian cuisine. The owner originally had a popular restaurant in his hometown of Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture, before moving to Tokyo. Before opening a shop in Asakura, he used to serve Japanese-style South Indian curry at a izakaya called "Kametop" in Morishita during Sunday lunchtime. The interior of the restaurant is decorated with many illustrations, giving it a cafe-like atmosphere. The friendly husband and wife owners make the place popular among women. They offer three basic curries - coconut-flavored chicken curry, tangy pork vindaloo, and Japanese-style sardine fish ball curry - as well as four daily specials. I tried all three basic curries, and they were all delicious. The unique flavor of the sardine fish ball curry was particularly interesting, but my personal favorite was the coconut-flavored chicken curry. I visited on a Sunday at 11:25 am and there was already a line of about 15 people. Although most groups were pairs, the seating is odd numbered with only 5 seats, so solo diners are seated promptly.

This restaurant has only 5 seats and is open for lunch only 4 days a week (Sunday to Wednesday), so getting a seat can be quite competitive. It is recommended to visit alone if possible. I visited on a Tuesday around 1 pm. There was no line, but the restaurant was full, so I waited outside for about 5 minutes. Specifically, the timeline was as follows: 1:17 pm - Arrived, 1:22 pm - Entered, 1:28 pm - Food served, and around 1:30-1:35 pm, 3 seats inside became available. If you visit during this time, you should be able to get in smoothly without waiting. However, be aware that they may run out of curry on some days. The dish I had was the "Japanese-style meal set" which includes a choice of 4 curry sets, including a daily special. You can also add a side curry dish to your set meal, allowing for customization. The daily special curry was "Beef Tendon and Bitter Gourd Curry" but it was already sold out by the time I arrived. I chose the "Chicken Curry Set" with an additional side of "Pork Vindaloo." Many people seem to add a side curry dish by default, and I recommend it as it allows you to enjoy a variety of flavors. The Japanese-style meal set includes the main curry dish, "Rasam" with mild spiciness and gentle acidity, "Vegetable Curry" with plenty of root vegetables, light bean potage, "Papad," healthy "Multigrain Rice" with pickles and stir-fried vegetables, and a fresh and crunchy "Salad." Both the "Chicken Curry" and "Pork Vindaloo" main curry dishes are rich in meat and flavorful spices, providing a wave of umami, acidity, and spiciness. Both are delicious, but personally, I prefer the "Pork Vindaloo." I also thought that adding another dish like the "Sardine Meatball Curry" would have been manageable. Despite the limited seating and operating days, this is a fantastic restaurant that I would love to visit again.

I happened to wait for just 3 minutes at 1:30 pm in the neighborhood. I like this type of spicy cuisine, but I often don't understand the Indian names and ways of eating soups or dough-like dishes, so I was relieved to see a menu with a selection of curry dishes and explanations on one plate. I chose the Pork Vindaloo set with an additional Chicken Curry for 1450 yen. The Pork Vindaloo had a nice tanginess and spiciness, with fairly large cubes of pork that were very delicious. It was different from the watery soups with chunks of meat. The optional Chicken Curry was also delicious, with a mellow flavor and a light spiciness that added depth. There were two types of soups served, both with a good dashi flavor and plenty of vegetables. Towards the end, I mixed everything on the plate with the multigrain rice and devoured it all! Overall, it was easy to eat and everything was delicious. I would like to try other curries with extra rice and mix them all together. The seat near the entrance seemed a bit warm, I wish the air conditioning was a bit stronger... I left sweating even more. Thank you for the meal!

If you have ever thought that a popular curry restaurant opened without you knowing, you are not alone. This popular Fukuoka restaurant has been open for less than two years in Morishita. It is named "Fukagawa Indian Set Meal" and incorporates Japanese elements into Indian curry. There is always a line before opening, but they open early. I was the 6th person in line for the 5-seat restaurant, but was able to enter 15 minutes after opening. The chicken curry is delicious. They recommend mixing various curries and side dishes, or dipping the rice in the rasam for a fun experience.

It is a 5-seat counter restaurant. The food was delicious, but the air conditioning was not very effective, and I couldn't fully enjoy the meal because I was worried about sweating. The curry seemed to be South Indian style. The side curry had a gentle and carefully crafted flavor. If it weren't for the heat, it would have been a taste that suited my preferences.

Arrived at the restaurant at 11:10 am on a Sunday, and there were already 6 people waiting in line. I thought I might not be able to get in on the first round, but fortunately I was able to enter at 11:45 am after the restaurant opened. The turnover was fast, which was great. I ordered the Chicken Curry for 1,150 yen, Pork Vindaloo for 1,150 yen (to go), and a Chai Set for 500 yen. As I waited in line, seated one by one along the wall, a plate with papad (round lentil crackers) was served. The tomato Rasam (spicy tomato soup curry) at the front had a refreshing spiciness, the vegetable curry in the middle was easy to eat with the sweetness of the beans. And finally, the main dish, Chicken Curry, was delicious with a rich and sweet coconut flavor. The chicken was tender and the rice was so good that I couldn't stop eating. Even when I crushed the papad and sprinkled it on top, the texture and saltiness added a nice touch. The spiciness was mild, making it suitable for those who don't like spicy food, and the generous amount of vegetables made it a healthy and satisfying meal. The Pork Vindaloo had a strong tanginess and spiciness, a completely different curry but also delicious. I'm curious about the Sardine Meatball Curry and the Lamb and Burdock Curry that I didn't order. It's understandable why many people add other curries as side dishes...! I will definitely come back to try other flavors. Thank you for the meal.

I recently visited a highly praised curry restaurant in Tokyo. I arrived a little late and had to wait a bit after the opening. I ordered the curry set with sardine meatball curry and added a side dish of mutton and burdock curry for the day. The portion of rice was small. The set also came with rasam and vegetable curry (bean potage), so I enjoyed a variety of dishes. It was indeed very delicious, living up to its good reputation.

Lunch on a weekday in July 2023 ⭐️ Foodlog rating 3.87 ⭐️ Pork Vindaloo set meal ¥1,150 & Today's curry ¥350. The highest temperature was 35°C, scorching heat. Visited 5 minutes before opening on a weekday. Waited for 3 people. The restaurant was empty, perhaps because it was a weekday or because of the hot weather. The interior was small with only 5 counter seats. The most popular orders seemed to be chicken or sardines. This was my first visit and I was looking forward to the ⭐️ Pork Vindaloo set meal ¥1,150 ⭐️ Today's curry (Eggplant Keema Curry) ¥350 *Extra rice ¥100. Other orders around me were Sardine Dumpling Curry. After ordering, the food arrived in a single plate in about 5 minutes. From left to right, we had tomato-flavored medicinal curry soup called Rasam, vegetable curry with bean potage, Eggplant Keema Curry, Pork Vindaloo, salad, bean cracker called Paped, multi-grain rice, Poriyal (coconut-flavored stir-fry), and Achar (pickled onions). I started with the Rasam, which was delicious. The vegetable curry with okra and potage was a great start. Today's Eggplant Keema Curry is a crowd-pleaser. The Pork Vindaloo had a unique sourness that I enjoyed. Towards the end, I broke the Paped with my hands, sprinkled it over the rice, added the curry, and mixed it all together. A very satisfying lunch.

Chicken curry set meal with a side dish of curry (today's curry/eggplant keema curry) for 1150 yen plus 350 yen. I usually go to places that are convenient to stop by on the way, but sometimes there are restaurants that I never get a chance to visit unless I make it a destination. This is one of those places. While I may pass by this area, actually going there within the business hours is rare. So, I arrived at Morishita Station a bit late, around 1 pm, feeling nervous about the possibility of items being sold out. There were two customers ahead of me, and I got in after waiting for about 10 minutes. When I left, there were 7 people waiting, so I timed it well. It was my first time here, so I ordered the chicken curry set meal at the top of the menu. Initially, I thought about adding two side dishes, but I felt like I would get full quickly, so I decided to add just one. When you add a side dish, the curry portion becomes slightly larger compared to the rice, which was just right for me as I can't handle large rice portions. The curry here has a gentle taste overall. It's mellow and rich, with the flavors of the ingredients shining through. Personally, I found the taste a bit vague, lacking distinctiveness. None of the curries were spicy, but there was a lingering hint of spice at the end. Maybe my opinion will change after trying the pork vindaloo and sardine meatball curry. I'll revisit and reflect on them later.

Arrived 15 minutes before the usual opening time. Under the scorching sun, there were already 2 customers ahead of me. - Sardine ball curry set meal ¥1150 - Pork vindaloo side dish ¥300 - Eggplant keema side dish ¥350 > Rasam might be a bit weak in sourness for those who prefer the tangy taste of Indian curry. > Sambal is similar to rasam. > Sardine ball curry: Excellent! The first bite may seem ordinary, but the homemade sardine balls are a pleasant surprise. They are incredibly soft and melt in your mouth without any fishy taste. > Pork vindaloo: Good! A unique dish with a strong tangy flavor. It reminds me of the richness of wine. > Eggplant keema: Excellent! Delicate and gentle, with the perfect balance of eggplant and high-quality minced meat. Other places tend to overpower the dish with too many spices, but not this place. The calm atmosphere of the restaurant, soothing background music, and the well-spaced seating arrangements make it a comfortable place to dine. The staff exude a kind and friendly vibe, making it a truly pleasant dining experience.

Visited during the middle day of a 3-day weekend. It was scorching hot, with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees, so I didn't want to wait in line. Arrived a little late, around 11:30 am right after the opening. As expected, there were about 10 people waiting in line. It's been a while since I've seen people lining up at a curry restaurant. Waited for about 30 minutes and finally got inside. They had Chicken, Pork Vindaloo, Sardine Curry, and a daily special curry. I was torn between choices but decided to go with the recommended Sardine Curry as the main dish and Pork Vindaloo as a side. The curry arrived in about 5 minutes. The Sardine Curry was a revelation! Unbelievable flavor! The sardines in the curry had a Japanese twist, but combined with the authentic spiced curry, it created a nostalgic yet refreshing and amazing taste! Next, I tried the Pork Vindaloo. Delicious! Just delicious! Simply delicious! It had a subtle acidity but a rich umami flavor that surpassed the acidity. I couldn't help but exclaim how good it was. This might be my favorite Pork Vindaloo ever. The rice, vegetable curry, and sambar were all perfect too! Everything was incredibly delicious! I ran out of rice because it was so good. Next time, I'll get extra rice. Thank you for the delicious meal. It was amazing! I will definitely come back often!

I finally visited a restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. It was a bit humid outside, but once I stepped inside, a cool breeze greeted me. The place had a cozy atmosphere with lots of small items on display and cheerful music playing. I waited for about an hour before being seated. I ordered the sardine meatball curry set with an additional side of pork vindaloo and a takeaway soy milk chai. The sardine meatball curry was delicious, with a perfect balance of tenderness and flavor. The pork vindaloo had a depth of flavor that was beyond the usual. Mixing the various vegetable curries and sambal with the rice added even more depth to the overall experience. It's no wonder this place is so popular.

I have been addicted to trying out different curries, and recently found a famous curry restaurant near my workplace. I visited for lunch and ordered the chicken curry. As a side dish, I got the curry with sardine meatballs. I wanted to order more dishes, but they only accepted cash and I didn't have enough money. The chicken curry was honestly not very impressive, but the sardine meatballs in the curry were amazing! They were so fluffy and delicious, with no fishy smell typical of sardines. It was incredible how well they paired with the curry. I should have made that my main dish instead.

Arrived 40 minutes before the weekend opening. Couldn't get in on the first round at number 6. It was a bit lucky that I could wait in the shade. Numbers 3 and 4 are in direct sunlight. However, all the places where people are lined up by the opening time are exposed to the sun, so it might be a good idea to prepare a parasol in this season. The line was quite long and there were about 20 people lined up at the opening time, with about half of them being women. There were also many people who came alone. I ordered the chicken curry set with an additional side dish curry and the sardine curry. The total was 1450 yen, cash only. As advertised as Japanese-style meals, I thought the naan didn't go well with the curry here. The multigrain rice is very delicious. The sardine meatball curry is excellent. I never thought meatballs would go so well with curry. The impression of the chicken curry was blown away haha. Overall, the portion size is on the smaller side. Extra rice is available for an additional charge. I recommend getting extra rice if you're hungry. I will definitely revisit soon! It was very delicious!
