Both the crab and the rice were delicious! They were served in a small tea cup, which made me think it might be a small portion, but there was actually plenty of rice. The set also came with miso soup, so I left feeling very satisfied! The rolled omelette was fluffy and had a great flavor. I will definitely go back when I'm in Sapporo again!

I visited the restaurant for lunch at the beginning of January. It is located on the first floor of an Apa Hotel along Ishiyama Street, so there is no need to worry about getting lost or parking. The interior of the restaurant is clean, with private booth seats on both sides of the hallway, allowing for a relaxing and spacious dining experience. I had visited this restaurant several years ago and the atmosphere remains excellent. The young and friendly staff provided good service, and there were several other staff members working as well. For lunch, my companion and I ordered the "Umi e" sashimi set for 990 yen + tax, and the "Umihime Gozen" for 990 yen + tax. I chose mixed grain rice for the sashimi set, and the hot soba option for the Umihime Gozen, with a curry bowl as the side dish. The sashimi set included salmon, sweet shrimp, scallops, and others, but the sashimi seemed a bit watery and the tempura lacked crispiness. The miso soup was lacking in flavor with only some leeks and seaweed. The side dishes were decent, with dried daikon radish, corn, and okra arranged like a Japanese-style salad. The Umihime Gozen with black curry bowl had rice that was slightly clumped together and the curry was not very hot. The soba noodles had toppings like leeks and seaweed, but the noodles were too soft. The tempura was also lacking in seasoning. The dessert was a Catalana-style pudding, which was surprisingly good. We also ordered drinks for an additional 100 yen + tax, which we could serve ourselves from a vending machine at the back of the restaurant. Overall, the atmosphere, cute staff, good service, and self-serve drink system were all positives, but there is room for improvement in other areas.

Personally, I thought both the fish and other dishes were delicious. The comparison between the taste of salmon and red salmon was interesting. The squid somen, Hokkaido shishamo, grilled lamb, sizzling teppanyaki, Hokkaido asparagus, large pork skewers, and red salmon onigiri were all tasty.

Subtitle: Visit to the "Thank you" party at the Junior Instructor Certification Exam on 2019.03.02 I completed the SAJ certified ski junior instructor practical exam over the course of two days from 3/1 to 3/2. Before the actual exam, I received support from the federation I belong to for taking the exam, and together with the instructor who helped me during the pre-exam training, we ended up having a "thank you" party at this restaurant. The location is a hotel (APA Hotel & Resort Sapporo), conveniently close to the Sapporo Moiwa Ski Resort where the practical exam took place. Additionally, it is also the venue for the closing ceremony of the junior instructor exam, the training session for successful candidates, and the C-class instructor exam (in case of passing). Some of the candidates stayed at this hotel during the exam. One of my fellow examinees, who is also part of the "1st class group," organized the party at this restaurant due to its convenience. While some members stayed in the city center accessible by a single bus ride, I had a unique situation of staying at my sister's house in Kiyota-ku, which would take about 1.5 hours by public transportation (according to NAVITIME), so I declared myself as the designated driver for this event. Upon entering, we raised a toast. Everyone except for the underage individual and myself opted for beer for the all-you-can-drink set. There was also a selection of soft drinks available, and the food included two types of hot pots, sashimi, and tempura. Additionally, there was an option to order additional dishes at an extra cost, and I ordered grilled beef tongue for everyone. The food was delicious, and my fellow diner and I, who were more robust in size, ended up receiving a fair share of the meal. Unfortunately, I must report that I did not pass the exam. However, I immediately applied for the Hokkaido Ski Federation (SAH) certified ski instructor exam after the closing ceremony. I had already considered this exam as an option, and the fact that I had taken the junior instructor exam exempted me from the theoretical exam, which was a relief. I am determined to do my best in the upcoming exam! (The continuation of this story will be in the next separate review)

After finishing a banquet in Chikawa, we returned to our hotel and decided to have one more drink at a new place called KS with my partner at 8:30 pm. It seemed like they were short-staffed. The food was decent, but the prices were a bit high. There was a noisy group of Asian people next to us, so we ended the night at 10 pm! We had steamed asparagus for 690 yen, fresh squid sashimi for 690 yen, crab sauce over rice, grilled skewers set, and Super Dry beer. Thank you for the meal! (^^)v

I visited the sea after a long time! It's a Corowide chain, right? The prices are in between Iroha Nihoheto and Shunka Shuutou, I suppose. I used to hold Corowide stocks before and received gift certificates, so I used to come here often. But since I sold the stocks, I haven't had many opportunities to come here. I made a reservation in advance. Since I have young children, they prepared a private room for us in the back. I'm grateful for that! We have noisy preschool boys at home, so even though I rarely drink alcohol at home, I'll have a drink when I'm out at a restaurant. Today, I had Asahi beer. The water had a picture of the Nikka old man on it, and the kids were delighted. "It's the Nikka old man!" they said. Now, onto the food. Overall, I think it's pretty delicious. The time from ordering to serving was pretty quick - average. The grilled chicken skewers were delicious! The sliced raw potato salad was also tasty. We didn't order much seafood, but it was decent. As we were about to order dessert, it was after 7:30 pm, which seemed to be the peak busy time for the restaurant. Even though I pressed the call button multiple times, no one came to take our order. I pressed it three times in total, but still no response. I understand that it was busy, but it was a bit frustrating that they didn't come. I had to directly ask a staff member to take our order. There was no apology for the delay, so I felt like maybe the staff could use some more training. We had only had two drinks, so considering the food cost, even with a coupon, it was close to 10,000 yen, which felt a bit expensive. This was for two adults and two children. It's a chain restaurant, so it's understandable, but it is what it is.

During the peak season, I couldn't find a hotel in the city center, so I ended up staying at APA Hotel in the Makomanai area, which is a bit far from the center. It was raining, and there weren't many dining options nearby, so I decided to just eat at the hotel. There were two entrances to the restaurant, one facing outside with a register and the other inside the hotel with counter seats. The menu boasted seafood dishes, which is expected in Hokkaido. I ended up ordering squid sushi, squid with mayo and cheese, sea urchin rice, and something similar to Jingisukan. While everything was decent, there wasn't a standout dish that I would specifically come back for. I also had Hokkaido sake called "Hokkai Kumakorori" and "Namara Karakuchi," which came to around 6000 yen. The hotel seemed to attract a lot of tourists from China, who all seemed to love Hokkaido.

There are not many seafood izakaya restaurants in the Minami district. You can easily spot this restaurant on the first floor of the Apa Hotel. It's a chain restaurant with a wide variety of seafood dishes, but the prices are a bit on the high side. When my family of three dined there, it cost us around 12,000 yen per person, so be careful not to drink too much and overspend. They also offer courses, so it might be a good option if you're worried about the prices. They have a decent selection of sake and shochu, which is convenient. The tsukuri sashimi was delicious. If you're craving seafood and want to drink nearby, this is a place worth visiting.

This is a izakaya located next to an APA hotel. It is open to guests other than hotel guests. There were four of us who visited. The draft beer served is Suntory's Malt's. The beer foam is smooth and delicious! The dishes we ordered were chicken skewers, rolled omelette, assorted pickles, octopus with wasabi, golden chicken grilled, crab rice porridge, young chicken tempura, ankake yakisoba, and crispy potato salad. I ordered the chicken dishes because I love chicken! The taste was juicy without any unpleasant smell. The chicken skewers are a bit pricey at 330 yen each, but the pieces of chicken on the skewers are large and satisfying. The golden chicken grilled tastes even better with yuzu as a condiment. However, it felt a bit dry. This is just the opinion of a tipsy person, so take it with a grain of salt!

On the day of a certain artist's live performance, after the show ended, I checked into an APA hotel. I felt too lazy to go out for food, so I decided to eat at the izakaya inside the hotel. When I arrived at the restaurant around 9:30 PM, they were full and asked for my room number to call me when a table was available. I waited in my room for about 30 minutes until they called me back. Since it was a Saturday night, the restaurant was bustling. I was seated in a semi-private booth. Looking at the menu, I noticed that the prices were quite high. I was in a high spirits after the live performance, so I ordered various dishes without much thought. Perhaps they set higher prices targeting tourists? There were many Hokkaido-inspired dishes on the menu, and they were delicious. Next time, I'll stick to just one beer for the cheers and then switch to highballs. The morekase soba at the end was probably the most delicious dish.

I was hungry, so I randomly walked into a izakaya, which seems to be a common chain in Sapporo. The snow crab felt like it had lost some moisture and the amount of meat inside seemed less than expected. I won't be too critical about the food since it's an izakaya, but I had high hopes for the crab since it was prominently featured on the menu and posters. The prices were slightly higher compared to izakayas in Nagoya. The variety of alcohol was enjoyable, especially choosing from Hokkaido specialties. I tried a kelp shochu from Rebun Island which was easy to drink and delicious. The air conditioning was too cold, so they lent me a blanket. Despite being busy, the staff were thoughtful and kind.
