I had lunch at Toritaro in the Saitama Shintoshin North Exit area. It's been a while since I last visited. I ordered the crispy chicken tempura rice bowl. The system seems to have changed - you pay upfront, receive your order at the counter, and choose your seat. It was exactly 12 o'clock, so it wasn't crowded yet. The meal came with the rice bowl, chicken skewers, pickled burdock root, and miso soup. I enjoyed the chicken tempura with rice and spring greens. It was a quick and satisfying meal. The chicken tempura rice bowl at this yakitori restaurant is quite good. I finished it in no time.

I went to dinner with a friend in Otaru. The access is great as it is right in front of Sapporo Station. It only takes about 5 minutes to get there from the station platform. I came for the yakitori, but they also have a good selection of seafood! In the end, we ended up ordering mostly seafood dishes. However, all the seafood was delicious, especially the homemade marinated mackerel. As someone from Tokyo, I found it to be cheap and good for tourists! Drinks like beer for 350 yen are a great deal! I didn't eat much yakitori, so I rate it 3.5 out of 5!

Torataro-san, I usually go to the Higashiguchi store, but this time I came to the Kitaguchi store. It's surprising to have two stores so close to each other...lol I had a la carte dishes and the food was amazing as always. I had yakitori, sausages, and french fries, and I was satisfied with beer and sweet potato shochu. But this time, I was tempted and ended up having sake too. I like it, but it makes me drunk... I've had experiences of losing my memory with sake, but I guess a couple of cups won't hurt, right? Sometimes I want to drink something other than Hokkaido alcohol. It was a very satisfying banquet. Thank you for the meal (^o^)

I was guided to a restaurant that had a smoking area nearby, with ashtrays on the tables so you could smoke while eating. I ordered a Kirin Ichiban beer for 550 yen and a refreshing tomato juice for 350 yen. The tomato juice was not too salty and tasted really good. The appetizer was egg salad topped with thinly sliced salami. I also had lamb skewers for 350 yen, where you could choose between a spicy or mild sauce. I found out my partner prefers the spicy sauce. The shimeji mushroom wrapped in pork skewers for 200 yen were healthy and tasty. The mozzarella cheese-filled meatballs for 280 yen were fun and delicious as the cheese stretched out when you cut into them. The shiso roll for 245 yen was quite flat and lacked shiso flavor. The stuffed bell peppers for 200 yen were huge, each being equivalent to half a pepper filled with cheese and wrapped in pork belly. It was a very satisfying dish. We ended the meal with a refreshing daikon radish salad for 600 yen, dressed with pink plum and shiso dressing which was quite tangy and paired well with alcohol. It also had some dried young sardines which added a nice touch. The tripe stew was surprisingly light in flavor for an izakaya menu, as I am used to it being saltier. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

We had curry (≧∀≦) The chicken on top of the curry is delicious (о´∀`о) Torigo aims to be a "delicious restaurant" where customers feel a sense of absolute trust that the food will be delicious even before taking a bite. Torigo also aims to be a "pleasant restaurant" where there is always brightness, smiles, and energy on the stage of the restaurant. Lastly, Torigo aims to be a "grateful restaurant" where gratitude is expressed to customers and staff, as saying "thank you" is equivalent to actually feeling thankful.

Especially seafood dishes. The skewers are reasonably priced and have a wide variety, quite delicious. They also have a rich selection of sake at a low price. Although the super cheap campaign they had in October has ended, it is still good enough. They also have a variety of hidden gems in their selection of drinks. Highly recommended!

Lunch. The display at the entrance is so realistic! You can easily see the contents and portion size! I chose one of the two daily specials, the charcoal-grilled chicken harami soba. The other one must be bara chirashi, with meat and fish. You order at the counter and it's cash only. While waiting in front of the counter, they hand you the food, and you can choose one pickled vegetable and two small side dishes from the counter! I didn't know that! You serve yourself and then sit down. The seating at the izakaya is spacious, with semi-private booths for a comfortable experience. The pickled vegetable I chose was the green one that I occasionally find delicious. It had a refreshing taste. The egg salad tasted like the filling of an egg sandwich. It made me want some bread. I also chose the omelette, and there were various fried items available. Rice was included, and there was quite a lot, so I declined, but when I mentioned I wanted a little bit, they still gave me a regular-sized bowl. It would have been nice if they had a clearer idea of what "a little bit" meant. It was so delicious that I ended up eating it all. Extra portions are free. The harami had a nice smoky flavor from the charcoal grill. I thought the soba broth was a bit light at first, but towards the end, it became just right with the chicken broth coming through. The soba itself was slightly rough in the beginning, but it was acceptable. And all of this for just 750 yen, which I think is incredibly cheap. It was the best value lunch near the station office building. Thank you for the meal! ♡

Today we had a sudden drinking party with 3 people. We have visited this place for lunch a few times, but it's our first time here for dinner. We had a 2-hour all-you-can-drink plan and ordered a platter of grilled chicken, bonito sashimi, carbonara, fried potatoes, and yakisoba. Today, I'm feeling a bit weak so I'm avoiding shochu on the rocks and going for green tea highballs instead. We shared the grilled chicken skewers. The bonito sashimi was good, but I prefer it with ponzu and garlic. The fried potatoes were the perfect accompaniment to alcohol. We finished off with yakisoba. We had a great time over the 2 hours. Thank you for the meal.

I had a small gathering at a restaurant with thorough infection prevention measures in place. While the restaurant mainly serves yakitori, I couldn't resist ordering the shark and ray sashimi, which was incredibly fatty and delicious! Of course, the yakitori was also amazing. We ended up focusing more on drinking, but unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the drinks or food. Oh well, I had beer and shochu. It was a reassuring restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

I used the restaurant from 6:00 pm, it was moderately crowded, and I was seated in a booth. I chose the 2-hour all-you-can-drink option and cheers with a highball! The seating had acrylic partitions separating us from the neighboring table to prevent the spread of droplets. I enjoyed classic izakaya dishes like dashimaki tamago, yakitori, and karaage. Drinking at the restaurant really lifts your spirits! Thank you for the meal!

JR Hakodate Main Line is closed, such a hassle. Can't go home, so camping out with my wife. I feel like eating yakitori. In my university days, Toritaro was known for being really cheap. But when I ordered a decent amount, it ended up being quite expensive. Around 3000 yen per person? I only ordered 3 soft drinks, but it's like the cost of a cheap drinking party, right? Why are my wife and I having a 3000 yen drinking party after work? The appetizer. Comes with soft drinks. It has Matsumae pickles with boiled shrimp on top. I like Matsumae pickles, so it's fine. Tastes like Fukume. How much is the appetizer? 300 yen? Are you kidding me? Skewers. I got a mixed plate, but I'm not sure about this. These are cheap skewers. The yakitori boy in Higashi Ward is much cheaper, more voluminous, and tastier. Chicken wings. Looks a bit overcooked, doesn't it? The bones are cracking. Salad. Pretty average. Not much in terms of quantity. French fries with cheese. I forgot to take a photo, freshly fried but not well-drained. Worse than McDonald's. The only decent thing is the grilled rice ball! Crispy on the outside, with miso spread on it, and delicious! Expensive though! The service level is high because of the fabulous service from the waiter. They recommend ordering drinks when they run out and suggest ordering food when it's finished. It ended up being expensive (laughs). The restaurant has a rating of 3.42 on Tabelog? Official mark (laughs). Ah, I see (laughs).

It's been a while since I had a drinking party with friends. We opted for all-you-can-drink and ordered the food we wanted to eat. We started with highballs. The appetizers were potato salad and ham. The live hairy crab that we had pre-ordered arrived. It was small but had plenty of meat in it, and it was delicious. We silently enjoyed eating it. The seaweed tempura had a crispy snack-like texture. The shrimp ajillo had juicy and delicious shrimp. The assorted sashimi platter included fatty tuna, fresh mackerel, seared sea bream, live scallops, and live horse mackerel, all of which were incredibly fresh. My friend is known as Toritaro, but he was like Fishitaro here. Unfortunately, I only have pictures up to this point. No pictures below. The triple cheese pizza, fluffy rolled omelette (off-menu version), Hawaiian poke salad, steamed abalone with sake, Toritaro pasta, seafood paella, and Taiwanese mixed noodles were all delicious. We didn't have any grilled chicken. In the second half, we switched to drinking sake. Unusual sake kept coming out one after another. The power of regular customers is truly immense. (February 2021)

After work in February 2020, I had about 40 minutes of free time and decided to go for a drink. I remembered a standing bar called "Ura Toritaro" that my dad had reviewed before. I headed towards the direction where I thought it was located, only to find out that there was no standing bar there. Disappointed, I decided to go to Toritaro instead. The staff asked me if I preferred the counter or a table, and I chose the counter despite it being a bit cramped and noisy. I ordered some yakitori and enjoyed the cheese tsukune, though the wasabi flavor in the chicken skewers was a bit off. The bill came out to be around 2000 yen. Overall, it was a decent experience.

Visited a company drinking party. The course meal included a variety of dishes from sashimi to yakitori. The sashimi was delicious and the yakitori was tasty, but I wished I could have ordered a la carte instead of the course. The portion was small, and the charm of Toritaro was somewhat diminished. However, the speed at which drinks were served was quite fast. Thank you for the meal.

After leaving the Fish and Ichidou Sapporo Station store, let's go to another place! We decided to do a Sapporo Station bar crawl. The second stop was this place which offers a wide selection of local sake. The restaurant was extremely crowded and almost full, but luckily there was one table available for us. Cheers!
Drinks:
- Draft beer 450 yen
- Kagetsu Junmai Ginjo (Nagano) 650 yen
- Hokuto Suison Junmai Ginjo (Hokkaido)
They have a selection of 25+ local sakes available at all times, perfect for sake lovers.
Food:
- Motsu Nabe (tripe hot pot) 500 yen
- Assorted 6 skewers 820 yen
- Fried Natto 480 yen
The skewers included chicken, pork, and tsukune (chicken meatballs), each with their own unique flavors and textures. The fried natto was a popular Hokkaido dish with a fluffy fried tofu and plenty of natto topped with green onions. It was a great accompaniment to the drinks.
Overall, the restaurant not only serves delicious yakitori but also offers a variety of seafood dishes and sushi. The drink menu is extensive as well. It's a versatile izakaya that goes beyond just yakitori. We look forward to trying more dishes on our next visit. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The izakaya near Zatsu station has a wide variety of lunch menus and is fast, which is good. I usually visit Toritaro at night, but this was my first time for lunch. I was in a hurry, so I expected speed and sure enough, my meal arrived in less than 3 minutes. Fast! The katsudon was a bit bland, while the soba had plenty of mountain vegetables and a strong broth. Well, nothing beats speed.

My junior really wanted to drink, so we went to the yakitori place on the Sapporo station side. It had been a while since I last visited, but the drink service was fast, and the food came out quickly and was delicious. The seafood sundubu had a slightly off taste. The yakitori was cooked just right with a good amount of salt. I'll definitely come back again.笑

In Hokkaido, the summer is short. After the Obon festival passes and the beer garden at Odori Park closes, the temperature suddenly drops. Even in mid-August, the high temperature is below 20°C. In a couple of months, there will be news of the first snow in Sapporo. So, I visited Toritaro Kitaguchi branch. Sitting at the counter, I started with a draft beer. It was so delicious that I felt like shouting my love to the world. The Sempachi Hachisaku was a sharp and dry sake, perfect for a hot day. The Nana Kushi Moriawase had chicken, pork, tsukune, heart, liver, gizzard, and asparagus. The pork skewers were juicy and tasty. The tsukune was a bit lacking in saltiness. The secret fried chicken was a bit dry but had a nice level of spiciness. The food was delicious, but the constant chatter among the staff made me feel uncomfortable, so I left early.

The sea bream was delicious. Both the sashimi and seared options were tasty. It's a pretty big portion, and even though it's a chain restaurant, they offer good quality food. I like it.
