シュウ@味噌ラーonly
Arrived at the restaurant just after it opened on Sunday at 11:30 am. Reservation for 2 people. We were the first ones there, and more people arrived soon after. Located on a side street off Hongo Street, on the south side. Established in 1965, it is a well-known restaurant with over 50 years of history. There used to be another branch downstream a few years ago. With our bonuses in hand, my mother and I decided to treat ourselves to some high-quality sushi. There were 2 sushi chefs and 3 staff members in the dining area. We had reserved a private room on the 2nd floor of the old building, which had a slightly steep staircase. The room had tatami flooring and a table seating arrangement. It was a cold day, so we turned on the air conditioning. We both ordered the "Custom 10-piece Set" (5500 yen) each. We had to write down our sushi preferences on a piece of paper, as there was no menu available. I chose Uni x2, Tuna, Salmon x2, Ikura, Tsubu, Scallop, Prawn, Abalone, while my mother chose Uni x2, Tuna x2, Ikura, Kanpachi, Scallop, Surf Clam, Abalone. Each type of sushi was served in pairs. The Uni was sweet, the Salmon was tender with just the right amount of fat, and the Ikura had a satisfying popping texture. The Tsubu and Abalone were chewy, and the Prawn was firm. My mother had miso soup, which had a nice touch of sea bream. We also ordered a steamed egg custard as a service with a coupon, which was delicious but in a small portion. Overall, we were very satisfied with the delicious sushi. Although conveyor belt sushi restaurants may have fresh ingredients, the hand-rolled sushi here had a different level of craftsmanship. There was a signed photo of a koi at our private table, indicating a connection to a charity event. We forgot to use our points for payment, as the system requires customers to take responsibility for such matters. We will definitely visit again!
