Dinner was just a delicious buffet. There weren't a lot of options, and it didn't have any particular features either. The sweet shrimp was so delicious that I went back for more several times, haha. Relaxing in the hot spring and then having a meal after going to the sauna is the best! ♫

I traveled to Tokachi and Kushiro for 2 nights and 3 days in June. It's ideal to spend 3 to 4 nights when exploring Eastern Hokkaido, but considering this trip was also about food, we settled on 2 nights and 3 days to save our stomachs and energy. My wife wanted to explore the sweets in Tokachi, while I had a simple goal of visiting the Kushiro Marsh in Kushiro. We chose to depart from New Chitose Airport instead of Tokachi Obihiro Airport or Kushiro Tancho Kushiro Airport. The distance from New Chitose Airport to Obihiro is about 160 km, and from Obihiro to Kushiro is about 120 km, which is not too far. On the first day, we departed from New Chitose Airport and visited a sweets shop in Obihiro before heading to Tokachigawa Onsen Kanku En. We chose this hotel because it was the closest to the Tokachigawa River. With a small open-air bath in our room overlooking the Tokachigawa River, we were able to relax in the hot springs while enjoying the view. The hot springs were very nice, with a sauna in the large public bath as well. As for meals, we had a buffet this time. We were looking forward to dishes like Tokachi beef teppanyaki and raclette, which are typical of Tokachi. The Tokachi beef had a good texture and flavor, and the raclette was also unique and enjoyable. However, I couldn't resist my bad habit of piling up my plate with everything at the buffet. With so many options for dinner, I quickly became full after taking a little bit of everything. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had stuck to just a few plates of my favorite beef, raclette, and sashimi. For breakfast, I made myself a seafood bowl and enjoyed curry and buttered potatoes. There were also smoothies and a good selection of drinks. The only downside was that the coffee was pre-made for both dinner and breakfast. I was a bit disappointed as even business hotels nowadays often have machines that grind and brew fresh coffee. Overall, I think the variety of dishes for both dinner and breakfast at the hot spring hotel was good. Thank you for the delicious meals.

In May 2022, this time it's Tokachi River Onsen with a great discount plan called "Do-Min Wari" combined with the "Otofuke Wari" plan, which includes only breakfast. It's very cost-effective. Maybe because of this combined plan, it was so crowded, packed with people. It was crowded, but no one seemed to mind (lol). I think it's a good thing. It was my first time staying at Kantsuki En. For dinner, we had takeout in the room and that was it. The main event was breakfast. Breakfast buffet started at 7 am, but when I went before the start time, there was already a line. There was no social distancing or anything, so we need to be careful individually. When it started, it was like a big company cafeteria. People lined up, putting food on their trays in order, but there was no time to leisurely check the menu. I couldn't take my time to decide what to eat. The popular "Manga Meshi" was there, and when I felt the eyes of people waiting next to me, I couldn't really take my time to decorate it nicely. It took almost 30 minutes just to get side dishes. Finally, I started eating. Everything was delicious, but nothing was really outstanding. Maybe because there was no curry (lol). After eating half of the "Manga Meshi," I made a "Katte Don" by putting sashimi and ikura on top. The ikura was quite salty, so it made the sashimi even saltier because I put soy sauce on it. That was a mistake. I wanted to go for a second round, but I had to leave the hotel by 8 am for urgent business in Kushiro, so I ran out of time. Oh well, I wish I could have had a more satisfying meal. I want to have a rematch. Thank you for the meal.

Stayed at Kangetsuen in Tokachi River Onsen, Higashikawa-cho, Hokkaido. The highlight after dinner was the hot spring. The Tokachi River "Mall Onsen" contains plenty of plant extracts and rock minerals, known for its moisturizing effect like lotion and its skin-beautifying properties. The indoor baths have a perfect temperature for a long soak, and you can also enjoy jacuzzis, walking baths, and lying baths. The outdoor baths offer a vast panorama overlooking the Tokachi River. And then the sauna! You can enjoy the authentic Finnish "Löyly" sauna experience, which was relatively low in temperature and high in humidity, making it comfortable to use. After the sauna, you can cool off in the outdoor air next to the bath. If the weather is clear at night, it's a great time to refresh while gazing at the stars. I couldn't help but sing a song, like "Yozora ni hikari sosoi de, shinpi no gin no kāten, manten no mai, ōrora no nazo." Breakfast was also enjoyable. The breakfast venue, Forest of Nire, offers a buffet with a view of the Tokachi River just like the dinner buffet venue. I didn't notice it at night, but I recommend the window-side seats with a good view. The buffet includes simple dishes using locally produced azuki beans and potatoes, as well as the "Sweet Yogurt" from Asunaro Farming in Shimizu-cho, capturing the essence of Tokachi's breakfast. Enjoy handmade sausages from Obihiro Yachiyo Ranch, morning croissants, and seafood bowls. The fruit selection is a bit limited, with oranges, lychees, etc. They also offer Asunaro milk (from Asunaro Farming in Shimizu-cho) and smoothies. It was a great stay. I would love to enjoy the sauna again. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

"Tokachigawa Onsen Kantsukuen" where you can enjoy the rare Moeru hot spring and self-flowing ryokan. For detailed accommodation information, please visit the blog https://www.manarinafutagomama.com/entry/2022/06/11/203000 Tokachigawa Onsen was opened in 1900 along the Tokachigawa River. The source of the hot spring is a Moeru spring that springs from ancient strata. Moeru spring is a non-volcanic hot spring, and it is a rare and valuable spring quality worldwide. It has a brown color and contains a lot of humic acid, a plant component, making it famous as a beautiful skin bath and also selected as a Hokkaido heritage!! Access: About 11 kilometers by car from JR Obihiro Station, about 28 minutes by bus from Obihiro Bus Terminal. Kantsukuen is located closest to the Tokachigawa River in the hot spring village, where you can enjoy the Moeru spring while overlooking the majestic scenery of the Tokachigawa River and its surroundings (*^-^*) Dinner options include a buffet or creative kaiseki, and there is also a dog-friendly floor, making it a popular choice for visitors with dogs. In addition, Hokkaido has a sauna culture, and many facilities offer self-flowing ryokan, making Kantsukuen's self-flowing ryokan a charming feature!(^^)! Total price: 56,474 yen (including consumption tax) Using a coupon: 3,000 yen Deducted payment amount: 53,474 yen (including consumption tax) This time, it was my husband's birthday, so we chose a plan with a creative set meal of Japanese and Western dishes for dinner!(^^)! Dinner: We had the creative set meal at a different dining area than the buffet, enjoying our meal while overlooking the Tokachigawa River (*´艸`) The portions were amazing! Grilled scallops were served first, followed by fish dishes (゜Д゜) Oven-baked Oiwosakuradai from Hiroo Grilled Tencho Pork Shoulder Meat Another meat dish (゜Д゜) Steak of Toyonishi Beef Fillet The dessert was Basque cheesecake and a birthday cake for the celebration. The dessert was so delicious that we couldn't finish it all, so we took it back to our room (*^-^*) Note that the cake needs to be ordered at least 3 days in advance as it is outsourced. It was very delicious and satisfying, but I felt it was a waste as the same dishes were served in large quantities for children. It would have been better if there were children's set meals. Also, since we drink alcohol, we couldn't eat that much dessert, so I wish they had offered the last dessert of the creative set meal as a message plate. However, they did not offer that service... I hope they improve on this point. Breakfast: Breakfast is served in the morning at 7:00 am with no waiting time, and you can enjoy clean dishes. The popular customizable bowl allows you to have your favorite bowl from the morning!! You can enjoy breakfast while overlooking the Tokachigawa River~"

The long-awaited Tokachigawa Onsen is wonderful♪ The dinner was also amazing, with delicious appetizers, sashimi, grilled dishes, hot pot, mixed rice, and desserts. The food at Kantsuki-en has always been delicious. I am very satisfied. The seafood bowl at the breakfast buffet was also great. Everything was delicious, and I ate a lot from the morning. It was the best! I feel so healed. I will definitely come back! Thank you for the meal.

After a year, I visited Tokachigawa Onsen again! Just like last year, I stayed at Tokachigawa Onsen Kanketsuen, which is located by the Tokachi River in Hokkaido's Tokachi Plain. This inn is known for its "beauty hot spring," which is very soothing. The buffet here is also very popular, with about 70 different dishes available at all times, featuring fresh Hokkaido and Tokachi ingredients! Since I visited around the same time as last year, the seasonal food lineup was similar, but I was still very satisfied with the selection. The Tokachi Raclette cheese and grilled vegetables at the buffet are their signature dishes, and they were delicious! Everything else I tried was also great, and I ended up eating too much again this time. Buffets at inns in Hokkaido are really top-notch, and once you get used to it, it's hard to go back to mainland Japan without missing it.

I visited Kangetsuen in Tokachigawa Onsen, where I had previously enjoyed a day trip. I stayed overnight with breakfast included after receiving an esthetic treatment. The spacious moor hot spring with a soothing plant fragrance and the sauna room equipped with a rock bath are recommended. I stayed in a traditional Japanese-style room that was already prepared with futons as I arrived after 6 pm. Breakfast was buffet-style with a good balance of Japanese and Western dishes. Although it didn't have much of a Tokachi vibe, there were plenty of options available. (I only ate healthy food for breakfast on this day)

I've been wanting to stay at this hotel since I saw their commercial online. I really wanted to stay in a room with an outdoor bath, but due to the "Go To Travel" campaign or the "Otoboke Discount," all the rooms with outdoor baths were fully booked. I ended up booking a regular Japanese-style room, but the view of the Tokachi River from the room was amazing! The one-night plan included dinner and breakfast buffets. The dinner buffet had processed meats, live roast beef, tuna, yellowtail sashimi, raclette cheese, Hokkaido pork bowl, and red meat melon, among many other dishes. The breakfast buffet also had a wide variety of options, including donburi with tuna, octopus, salmon, sweet shrimp, tarako, and ikura. The fluffy white rice was so popular that it briefly ran out! The large communal bath with an outdoor bath at the mall hot spring was available for unlimited use except during cleaning hours (1 am to 3 am). I relaxed in the bath twice at night and once in the morning to soothe my travel fatigue. I definitely plan to stay in a room with an outdoor bath next time! Thank you, Kangetsuen!

I went to Kantsuki En! It's been about 10 years since I last visited, and it has been renovated during that time. I used it for a maple viewing party at work. After finishing the usual bowling in the afternoon, we gathered at 3:00 pm for check-in. We entered the room. This time there were 3 people, and the room was quite spacious. It was nice to have the toilet and bathroom separate. We started drinking in the room. Cheers! It's ice-cold and delicious! The party started at 6:00 pm. The food was a typical group party course, so I didn't expect much from the sashimi, etc. I ate everything except for dessert. I had a leisurely bath in the morning. The sauna is in the afternoon. Breakfast is served. It seems that this hot spring place puts a lot of effort into breakfast. As I started taking food, more and more dishes were added. There was even a make-your-own bowl corner. It's incredibly fulfilling. I've never had so many items for breakfast before. Amazing! I wonder if I can finish it. I only had about half of the rice, so I ate a lot of side dishes. Yes, it's delicious, and I lost track of the order I should eat in. I just kept eating. This is a satisfying breakfast. I wonder if dinner is better than room service. I finished it. Coffee can also be taken out, so I covered it and drank it in the room. This review is based on breakfast. Thank you, Kantsuki En! (*'ω'*)

I visited Kangetsuen. They offer good Japanese course meals. However, they do not ask about allergies and do not provide alternative dishes if you cannot eat something. The course menu includes appetizers, sashimi, hot pot, beef stew, seafood steamed dish, fried lobster, rice cooked in a pot, clear soup, pickles, and dessert. The food is delicious but the service and dishes do not seem as luxurious for the price. If paying the same amount, I would compare it to San Yoyan nearby.

Stayed with two meals included. Enjoyed a buffet with a variety of Hokkaido specialties such as raclette cheese, pork bowl, chicken salt hot pot, and bean pickles. The dessert featuring fruits like melon was exceptional. The next morning, opted for a healthier meal with Hokkaido milk, yogurt, and a custom bowl of toppings. Despite concerns about decreased visitors due to the earthquake, the restaurant was surprisingly busy, with some customers engaging in "explosive buying." Overall, a highly satisfying dining experience with delicious food and a relaxing hot spring. Would definitely visit again.

The hot spring and sauna here are excellent, and above all, the cost performance is great. It is becoming a popular inn when visiting the Tokachigawa River. I want to come back soon. Thank you very much.

This was my first visit to this accommodation. I splurged on a room with an open-air bath. The room was just the right size, not too big or too small, and very comfortable. The meals were served in courses, with a menu handed out for each one, which was a nice touch. Of course, there was Hokkaido beef teppanyaki, which was light and easy to eat, in just the right amount. The building itself is not new, but it is well-maintained and clean, which put me in a good mood. I would definitely like to stay here again next time.
