It's been a long time since I tried Yamagata-ya when they first opened in Tokyo. The boom has passed, but this time, on my way back to the flight, I found a beautifully renovated food court. They even have water available, and it's a very clean and nice place. I wanted to try a variety of dishes, so I ordered a small size salt ramen and 5 pieces of gyoza (400 yen) at Yamagata-ya. They gave me a buzzer and I waited. Soon enough, the buzzer went off and I exchanged it at the counter. The salt ramen was a good size and the gyoza was just right. Even those who said they weren't very hungry found themselves reaching for the gyoza. Despite being small in size, it was about 70% of the regular portion, which was enough. Ah, it's a nostalgic taste. It's salt pork bone, right? The sesame flavor adds a nice touch. Thank you for the meal.

Twenty years ago, when I lived in Tohoku, I discovered Yamatouka and became addicted to their delicious shio ramen, visiting every week. Although they used to have stores all over Japan, they have since pulled back and are not as common to find these days. Recently, I stumbled upon one at the newly renovated Asahikawa Airport food court, and feeling nostalgic, I decided to give it a try. I splurged a bit and ordered the Special Fatty Meat Shio Ramen for ¥1,300, along with the Flavored Egg for ¥150 and Spicy Rice for ¥450. It had been a while since I last had it, but I was disappointed to find that the soup was lukewarm and lacked the depth of flavor I remembered. Was it because it was in a food court setting? Or have other ramen shops raised their standards? It was bittersweet to have a bowl that I used to love not live up to my expectations.

This time, I purchased miso ramen with a seasoned egg topping from the ticket machine. The soup was a light miso flavor and the noodles were firm curly noodles. The chashu was so tender that it melted in my mouth without needing to chew, and I finished it all in a snap. *Finally, all the stores in the airport food court are open for business after the end of the coronavirus situation.

While waiting for my flight back, I decided to have dinner here. I ordered the spicy miso chashu ramen. The taste wasn't too spicy and the portion was just right. It was a satisfying way to end my Hokkaido trip by trying the local ramen.

Visited my niece's family in Asahikawa, and on the last day, we played in the Biei area before heading to the airport early. Had our final feast at the food court. The kids got bored as soon as they finished eating. Since we still had some time before boarding, my niece's family left at a suitable time. My husband and I, on the other hand, were persistent. Continued to sip on sake until the end. Finally decided to finish up and tried the ramen here. Usually go for Umekoen, but it had been a while since we had Yamatohi. Looking at the menu, I think it was salt ramen that I had last time, but this time I chose my favorite soy sauce ramen. Added an egg. After trying it, both my husband and I thought it was surprisingly light. It was delicious, but next time I'll have to try the salt ramen for sure.

This is the end of my trip, so it has to be ramen. I headed to the food court at the airport. There were other options like curry and seafood rice bowls, but I stuck to my initial plan and got the salt ramen! The soup was perfectly flavorful yet somehow light... not too salty, very well-behaved. I usually can't finish ramen soup because it's too salty, but this time I drank it all up. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I had the special toro meat shio ramen at Asahikawa Airport Terminal 2F (before security check). I visited at 6:30 pm on a weekday. I purchased a meal ticket from the machine and was given a buzzer to wait at my seat. I opted for the chibi size based on my appetite. The toppings like toro meat were served separately, making it easy to add whenever I wanted. It's a quick and satisfying meal option before boarding.

Even though it's the last ANA flight at 19:30 (as of April 2023), having spicy miso ramen and beer here is just perfect! The portion and taste are spot on. I especially liked the amount of bamboo shoots, green onions, and wood ear mushrooms this time. The way they pour the beer in this picture is so precious. However, I think if you have high expectations for the ramen, you might be a bit disappointed, so just enjoy it as a light ramen. Personally, this has become my routine at the airport.

I wasn't in the mood for something too heavy, so I ordered a small size of spicy miso ramen (¥100 off the regular price). The soup looked quite red, so I prepared myself for a spicy taste, but it was only slightly spicy. The chashu was so tender that it melted in my mouth, and I finished it all in no time.

After moving to Asahikawa, Yamakawa, who has eaten hundreds of bowls of ramen, tried the "shioramen" at the airport before boarding the final flight to Haneda. Despite some initial concerns about the food court style, the experience was just as good as dining at a regular store. The food court at Asahikawa Airport is overall of high quality, with all the shops offering delicious food.

I visited "Ramen Santoka Asahikawa Airport Store" in Asahikawa City. It's located in the food court of Asahikawa Airport. I really like Santoka Ramen! The first time I tried their salt ramen, it left a lasting impression on me. I knew that the main store is in Asahikawa City. I once passed by the main store without going in. This time, I had some time before my flight, so I decided to have ramen from Santoka for lunch. I purchased a meal ticket from the machine. They accept credit cards, so I paid with my card. I chose the Char Siu Ramen because their Char Siu pork is delicious. Here is my order: - Salt Char Siu Ramen with extra noodles (1250 yen) Santoka is known for their salt ramen. The soup is pork bone-based but has a unique creaminess to it, like a potage soup. The Char Siu pork is melt-in-your-mouth tender. The bamboo shoots are thick, the wood ear mushrooms and green onions are crunchy. The noodles are thin and have a smooth and chewy texture. It's always a high-quality bowl of ramen. I always feel satisfied, especially when I crunch on the crispy pickled plum at the end. - Miso Char Siu Ramen with extra noodles (1250 yen) The Miso Char Siu Ramen had a traditional miso ramen flavor. It's a Hokkaido-style miso ramen with a strong miso taste and a structure that retains heat well. The Char Siu pork, bamboo shoots, narutomaki are all of high quality, adding to the overall satisfaction. Truly, Santoka never disappoints. It's really delicious. It's easy to see why they can expand globally. Considering that airport food courts are popular spots with high rent, and they represent the region's image, it's no wonder there are many delicious restaurants there. Asahikawa Airport's food court was quite satisfying. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

If you are going to eat at the airport, I think Yamatoji or Nokoya would be good choices. Right now, I'm at Yamatoji, and it doesn't make you too full, but satisfies you. So it seems like it will become a regular before getting on a plane. The previous restaurant, Takano Tsume, was also good, but Yamatoji was good too.

This year's final ramen was enjoyed at "Ramen Santoka Asahikawa Airport Store" located in the food court "Soraichi" on the 2nd floor of the terminal building at Asahikawa Airport in Higashikagura-cho, Kamikawa-gun, Higashi 2-sen 16-98. I had the salt ramen, which cost 950 yen. The soup is the same creamy tonkotsu base as always. It looked delicious with green onions, bamboo shoots, pork belly chashu, narutomaki, chopped wood ear mushrooms, and a pickled plum on top. The Ramen Santoka Asahikawa Airport Store opened on October 26, 2022. Previously, there was a "Ramen Takanotsume Asahikawa Airport Store" in the same location. It had been a while since I last had Santoka ramen, since December 2018 at the Asahikawa Dobutsuen-dori Store. Santoka has branches in Tokyo, including Shibuya, Harajuku, and Gotanda. I should visit one of them if I have the chance. The menu offers shio, shoyu, miso, and spicy miso ramen starting from 950 yen. Chashu ramen starts at 1150 yen, while the special toro-niku ramen starts at 1300 yen. They use a ticket vending machine system, and accept various credit cards and electronic payments. However, some barcode payments like PayPay and auPay are not accepted. I also enjoyed a Sapporo Classic beer for 550 yen, which went well with the ramen. The noodles were likely from Katou Ramen, with their delicious medium-thin Asahikawa noodles. The taste was consistently delicious. The plentiful pork belly chashu was reasonably priced. I had a satisfying final ramen of the year. Here's to hoping for good health and more ramen adventures next year. Thank you for the meal.

When I came last time, this wasn't here! I couldn't help but stop by even though I only had 40 minutes until boarding. The new food court at Asahikawa Airport is lined up next to Umekouken. When it comes to Santoka, I went for the salt ramen with extra fatty pork. The seafood-flavored salt tonkotsu has a rich flavor that makes it hard to feel unsatisfied, but in terms of style, it's quite light. When I had it at another Santoka before, it was a bit richer. The extra fatty pork is still good! You can enjoy the deliciousness of the fat without feeling greasy. If it continues to be a good option for a last-minute ramen before heading back to Tokyo, that would be great. But ideally... I wish there were restaurants in the Asahikawa Airport food court that you can't find in Tokyo. Umekouken and Santoka can be eaten in Tokyo too.

"I had the 'miso ramen' for 950 yen and the 'pan-fried dumplings' for 400 yen. Before taking a photo, I accidentally took the soft-boiled egg from my companion's 'spicy rice bowl', so I apologize that it's not the original presentation. When it comes to Santoka, the salt ramen is popular, but I tried the miso for the first time. Honestly, I might like it more than the salt. The tender chashu and wood ear mushrooms are great additions. The noodle texture is just right. It has a richer flavor compared to the salt, and I really enjoyed it. Give it a try next time. The pan-fried dumplings were average. But all dumplings are delicious, so give them a try!"

Due to the impact of the coronavirus, Takanotsume, which had been closed for a long time, reopened on October 26th! I ordered the salt ramen with a seasoned egg topping. The rich pork bone-based white soup looks heavy but is actually refreshing, and the chashu is tender and delicious. The small pickled plum also adds a nice touch. I would like to try the dumplings next time.

I ordered salt ramen. The soup was light and easy to eat, despite being pork bone-based (probably). The toppings were all solid and delicious. I tried umeboshi for the first time, but personally, I didn't like it. However, my friend said it was delicious, so maybe it's a matter of personal preference whether you can eat umeboshi or not. It was an easy-to-eat ramen.

"Yamagata" even though it is a 4th rank, I came from Asahikawa to Higashikagura Town. I received a coupon from the hotel where I stayed yesterday. It's a hotel-exclusive coupon, so there are only a few stores where you can use it. My wife said, "There are stores at the airport where you can use it," but she has never been there. So, we went to Asahikawa Airport. For lunch, we ended up having the ridiculously expensive ramen at the airport food court. There were two ramen shops side by side, both representing Asahikawa. My wife ordered the "Chibi" ramen for 850 yen. A small bowl for 850 yen... Is this some kind of mistake? Why not just get the regular size? The ridiculously expensive ramen has evolved into an insanely expensive ramen. It was quite unusual to wait for over 10 minutes at the food court. I had to go pick up the insanely expensive ramen myself. It's a small bowl. This is not just ridiculously expensive, it's outrageous. It's lukewarm. Why? The reason for the long wait piqued my curiosity. But it wasn't that crowded. The taste is definitely Yamagata. It's delicious. The salt ramen noodles are soft, as expected. The bamboo shoots are a bit salty, with a hint of saltiness remaining. Not enough to complain about, but the wood ear mushrooms provide a nice texture. The green onion and pork belly chashu are delicious, but there's a slight odor to them. The neighboring ramen shop also had an odor. Are they sharing the same refrigerator? The lukewarm soup is a fatal flaw. It's a bit disappointing. The taste is delicious though.

I just learned for the first time that there was a main store in Asahikawa. The ramen is not typical Asahikawa style, perhaps because it is made to appeal to everyone. It doesn't have a strong unique flavor, but I found it very easy to eat. My partner, who usually struggles with oily ramen, was able to enjoy it. We had a delicious meal.

I probably had my first taste of Yamamoto Fire at the airport. The salt ramen mini. The thin slices of char siu and the crunchy wood ear mushrooms made me happy. I wonder why I didn't find much appeal in both the soup and the noodles. Could it be because it varies by location?
