When I came to Wakkanai, I was hesitant to dine alone at night, but I mustered up the courage and made a reservation at this restaurant. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by a chic interior and a calm atmosphere. I chose to sit at the counter and ordered the Tenderloin set. The soup, salad, and warm slightly toasted baguette were delicious. The main steak, cooked medium-well, was made from Soya beef and had a unique aroma and taste that was truly delightful. The meat was so flavorful, it was a taste I had never experienced before. The wine that came with the set was also good, and the cup wine I ordered afterwards paired perfectly with the steak. I enjoyed chatting with the staff and learning about the local area, and before I knew it, time had flown by. It felt like time stood still in this restaurant, like something out of Galaxy Express 999. When I left, it was still bright outside due to the midnight sun. Thank you for a wonderful time. It was a fantastic dining experience.

Looking for a steak restaurant and came across this place recommended for their tenderloin course. The salad and soup were delicious, and the steak was really tender and juicy. The fatty part was sweet, enhancing the texture of the meat even more. The doneness of the steak was perfect, and the side of warm vegetables and rice complemented the meat well. The 200g portion of meat was just right for us. For those who love meat and want more, they offer steak as a single item and can adjust the grams to your preference. As for drinks, we don't drink alcohol, so I'm mentioning the coffee we had after the meal, which we were satisfied with in terms of richness and taste.

Located about a 5-minute walk from JR Wakkanai Station, this restaurant is situated in a corner of a dining district with a stylish exterior. After entering and disinfecting hands with alcohol, we were seated at our table. The dinner menu offers three options, with only the C course requiring a reservation. Today, we opted for the B course, "Tenderloin Steak," which does not require a reservation. First, a clear soup was served, followed by a crunchy salad with cabbage and cucumber. Soon after, the main dish of "Tenderloin Steak" arrived, cooked to a medium doneness as requested. The meat was incredibly tender with no hint of the usual meaty smell, allowing the delicious flavor to shine through. Dipping the steak in the restaurant's original sauce enhanced the taste even more. The accompanying wine was also delicious. Despite the steak gradually cooling down, it remained tender and flavorful, indicating some special preparation technique. The "Tenderloin Steak Set" costs 8,030 yen including tax. The restaurant itself seems to be a long-standing establishment of around 50 years.

I made a reservation for the same day and visited the restaurant. It is located right near Wakkanai Station and has a parking lot. Upon opening the door, you can feel a sense of luxury in this small yet nostalgic restaurant. It was established in 1978, making it a historic establishment. There are counter seats and table seats available. The menu is very simple, with three course options and two a la carte options - sirloin and tenderloin. I opted for the 200-gram sirloin course which cost 6,820 yen. The course menu is definitely more cost-effective. The wine served was of good quality, with a slightly sweet and rich aroma. The hot soup was served promptly. It had a deep and clear flavor, with finely chopped red bell peppers enhancing the taste. The salad, with lettuce, cabbage, cucumber, pickles, onions, and tomatoes, was vibrant and crisp. The sirloin steak, cooked medium rare, was a large 200-gram piece that was tender and melted in the mouth. It had just the right amount of fat. The accompanying vegetables were delicious, with sweet carrots and sweet and soft fried potatoes. The baguette had a crispy crust and a soft interior. The coffee after the meal was also delicious. All of this for 6,820 yen seemed almost too good to be true. The wine list had bottles under 10,000 yen, catering to all budgets. The staff were friendly, and I had a pleasant dining experience. Despite making a same-day reservation due to the current situation, the restaurant is usually fully booked in advance. If you are visiting Wakkanai, this restaurant is a must-visit. On the 9th day of my trip to Hokkaido, I had dinner at a steakhouse that I found through a search. The interior of the restaurant had a chic and sophisticated atmosphere. The owner was cooking in the back, and a lady and a well-dressed girl were serving in the dining area. I ordered a 300g sirloin steak cooked rare and a salad. While waiting, I talked about my trip to this area, including visiting the Soya Hills and driving along the White Road. The salad arrived first and the vegetables tasted really good. Then the sirloin steak came, and the flavor was amazing. I asked about the brand of the beef, and it turned out to be from the cows in the Soya Hills. The meat was so delicious with a nice balance of lean meat and fat. The staff kindly offered to cut and cook the remaining fat and gristle for me. The buttery flavor paired perfectly with the beef. The richness and flavor of the meat was exceptional, and I definitely want to visit this place again. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Course B offers a 200g tenderloin steak of Tokachi Wagyu beef, with a course consommé soup, salad, main course, choice of rice or bread, and coffee. The drink option can be changed to cola or oolong tea. Rice can be substituted with garlic rice or butter rice. They were accommodating with the doneness of the steak and willing to adjust the cut. They opened at 18:30 on that day.

Traveling in Hokkaido, Wakkanai!! Tonight we stayed in Wakkanai. For dinner, we went to the steakhouse "Van", a well-known local steakhouse. It has been awarded with a Michelin star in 2012 and 2017. We ordered the sirloin steak course, which included consomme soup, salad, 200 grams of sirloin steak, bread, and a glass of wine. The meat was from the northernmost brand of beef in Japan, "Soya Black Beef". The price was about half of what you would pay in Tokyo. It was a very satisfying course. Thank you for the meal.

I visited around 6 o'clock on a weekday. It seems that there are fewer customers in October. Even if you are alone, they will talk to you so you won't get bored. I had the tenderloin steak of Tokachi beef. I wish they would serve it on a hot plate if possible. The salad was cold though.

I love the northern roads in summer, and I have visited Wakkanai three times, but this is the only place with a Michelin star. Personally, if I had to give a star to somewhere in Wakkanai, it would probably be for Takaraya's soy sauce ramen. Either way, this place is a no-go. I like this kind of atmosphere, but the meat here is just too salty. Also, the wine selection is terrible.

Went to Michelin one-star restaurant Van near Wakkanai Station and easily finished a 300g meal. It was worth the price. The area around the station is quiet, with commercial facilities mostly located on the west side. There were no Russian sailors visiting today.
