I went to work in Obihiro and had lunch at Indian, which is a popular soul food spot in the area. Indian is known for its "Obihiro Monroe Doctrine" that has forced COCO Ichibanya to retreat twice. Despite that, Indian has a loyal following and I have almost visited all their branches. I am also curious about the existence of the small restaurant "Apache Curry," but it seems to be a genuine place. On the day of my visit, I watched a middle-aged man, who was wearing a badge with "store manager" written on it, skillfully and confidently cooking in front of me. He was assisted by another middle-aged man who seemed to have received internal certification as a master. This sense of security was reassuring. Even when preparing curry at a central kitchen, the final touch during cooking can greatly impact the taste. The standard and nostalgic curry served in a stainless container made my heart leap with joy. The Basic Seafood Curry, which I had not tried in a while, had a nice balance and depth of flavor, with a hint of spice that gradually spread. The addition of bell peppers and eggplants added an interesting accent, while the generous amount of seafood enhanced the umami flavor. I realized that the strong satisfaction I felt was because seafood toppings brought out the flavors better than meat toppings. I now understand the true skills of Indian. The balance of flavors and the professional touch are what set them apart. The way the young man next to me ordered "Seafood Curry with Shrimp Toppings" looked so delicious and enticing. I have decided that I will definitely try that next time. This visit to Indian has made me a fan, and despite the scorching 33°C heat in Obihiro, the refreshing deliciousness of the meal made the experience enjoyable. Good!

The open kitchen style counter is always bustling. The cooking is well organized with clear role divisions, and the operation is excellent. When in Obihiro, this stable soul food curry is a must-eat dish. I've grown to love the pickles too.

Visited the "Minami-no" branch in Obihiro city at 11:30 on June 5, 2023. Despite having Indian curry for my first meal yesterday, I decided to have Indian curry again for lunch on the second day to complete my Indian curry tour in Obihiro city. Since I finished work early in the morning, I went to the "Minami-no" branch, which I had not visited yet. Today, I ordered the Vegetable Curry (¥528) with an additional Cutlet (¥286). The vegetable curry, with Hokkaido-grown potatoes, was delicious and had a homey taste that I sometimes crave. The cutlet was crispy and the potatoes were fluffy. I enjoyed the curry as always. Thank you for the meal.

On 10/22/23, I had "Indian curry (spicy) for 528 yen" for dinner while on a business trip. It was Sunday at 4:30 PM. I finished preparing vegetable stir-fry for tomorrow and stored it in the refrigerator. Now I can work overtime without worries (tears). Now, what should I have for dinner today? My stomach is growling. As if guided by something, I sat down here. To go back to basics, I ordered Indian curry. It had beef and dozens of spices in a thick sauce. The taste was not outstanding, but I consume it regularly. I realized that I have visited all the stores in the city. I'm not aiming to conquer all the stores, but... I hope to continue enjoying different experiences in the future.

I drove cautiously through Nisshogoe Pass, wary of colliding with deer, on a late-night/early-morning drive to Obihiro for an expedition. I managed to catch a snake safely and headed to lunch. Speaking of Obihiro, I went to Minami-no-sono store, not far from the Indian Curry shooting point. Just to clarify, this Indian restaurant in Hokkaido's eastern region is completely unrelated to the one in Osaka. The store, which has multiple locations in the local area, was crowded with customers waiting in their cars before it even opened at 11 a.m. What surprised me was the steady stream of takeout orders from presumably local customers. This place truly is beloved by the locals, serving soul food that can be customized with various toppings. I tried the Indian curry with cutlet, priced at 814 yen. The curry was rich and thick, similar to Kanazawa curry, with a deep flavor from beef and Tokachi vegetables. The spiciness was not overpowering, relying more on the umami taste. The cutlet, however, got overshadowed by the curry and might have been better served on the side. The meat was good, but the batter seemed to lose out to the curry's assertiveness. This unique curry, like the limited-time menu at Yuzuki in Tokachi, is not found in Sapporo, deliberately maintaining its distinctive character. It exudes pride and a sense of local attachment through its flavors.

I'm not a big fan of curry, but I always love to eat or take out the curry from Indian Curry when I come to Obihiro. There is something addictive about it that makes me crave it every time. My favorite is the Indian curry roux. I also always order the pork cutlet curry there, even though I wouldn't eat it anywhere else. The pork cutlet is finely chopped and cut in half in the middle, making it easy to eat with the curry. I always forget to ask for extra toppings, but I'll remember next time. The pickles at Indian Curry are also delicious, especially the mysterious green pickles, which are great when mixed with the curry. Adding too much hot spice can make it too spicy, but when balanced right, it's very tasty. I'm starting to crave Indian Curry again! Thank you for the meal!

I stopped by during my visit to Obihiro sightseeing. It seems to be a chain store, but I finally got to visit as I had been curious about it before. I visited on foot from a nearby hotel. It was a Saturday night, and there were quite a few locals. Many people were getting takeout. I ordered Indian curry with tonkatsu topping. It was served in a few minutes. The taste was just average. It was closest to the retort "hotel curry" I had recently. The result was disappointing compared to my expectations. Maybe my taste buds are not sensitive, so I feel the same way. I prefer CoCo Ichibanya. I don't think I will come back. It was good to try it for the experience. But the price is a bit cheaper here. If I eat it occasionally, I would still choose CoCo Ichibanya.

This is my first time at this restaurant, and it only has a counter inside. I think it's better to go alone rather than in a large group. Lately, the "shrimp" is very popular. Once you taste the firm texture, you'll be hooked. The taste at every location is familiar and delicious!

It's June 14, 2022 in Obihiro. For lunch, I went to Indian Curry near my client's office. I ordered Indian Curry with extra spicy level and added pork cutlet topping this time. Last time, I had the regular pork cutlet curry. I learned from that experience, so this time I decided to add pork cutlet on top of Indian Curry. It costs a bit more, but I love Indian curry sauce, so I went with this option. It arrived in less than 5 minutes. Let's take a bite... As expected, the Indian curry sauce is amazing! The spiciness is perfect for this sauce! It's still delicious as always. I added plenty of hot oil for a refreshing taste. Thank you for the meal. If you can't be satisfied with just a normal spicy curry, I recommend the extremely spicy level 7.

I came to Obihiro for the first time and tried Indian food here. It seemed to be the closest restaurant from Urakawa. It was a bit confusing whether it was for eat-in or take-out, as some people were taking out food in pots. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, but I managed to ask and found out that they manage the waiting list. It was crowded, but I was called in less than 10 minutes as I waited. While waiting, I noticed that there were many staff members, but only a few seemed to be new. It might be better if they let the more experienced staff handle the situation. At least a simple greeting like "welcome" or "thank you" would be nice. Anyway, when the food was served, I had Indian curry and my husband had Indian curry with cheese. We also had pickles on the side. The curry was delicious and easy to eat for everyone. I finished it quickly and if I have the chance next time, I would like to try the medium spicy one. Thank you for the meal.

Before my futsal practice, I felt hungry so I went to eat Indian curry. This might be my third time at an Indian restaurant? I ordered the extremely spicy katsu curry. I learned that katsu curry is the basic curry here... Personally, I prefer Indian curry. Next time, I'll try adding toppings to the Indian curry! The katsu was not too thick, making it easy to eat. I will come back regularly. Thank you for the meal☆Piro Yukin's super spicy level 7. I tend to pour a lot of hot oil on it lol.

On January 19, 2022, I visited a curry shop called Indian Minami-no located in Obihiro. Unfortunately, the okonomiyaki restaurant I planned to visit was closed, so I decided to try out this curry shop instead. I ordered the Seafood Indian Rou and added a pork cutlet topping. The curry was rich and flavorful, especially with the seafood. The restaurant had a modern brick exterior and a cozy interior with counter seating. Overall, it was a delicious meal and I look forward to coming back to try more dishes in the future. Thank you for the meal!

Indian curry, a soul food in Obihiro. I have been eating it since high school, and now that I live away from home, I always make sure to stop by when I visit. I always order the extremely spicy Indian curry. You can choose the level of spiciness without any extra charge. And it's delicious to eat it with garlic on top! Instead of fukujinzuke! There are three types of curry roux: Indian, vegetable, and basic, but Indian is recommended. It's great to add tonkatsu or chicken toppings to the Indian curry. If you just order katsu curry, it will come with the basic curry, so make sure to choose Indian curry.

After a long time, I visited a local curry restaurant known for its Hamburg curry, spicy level: very spicy, priced at 649 yen (tax included). Reasonably priced and loved by the locals, the curry here never disappoints. The condiments, including fukujin-zuke (pickles), shibazuke (pickles), and gari (pickled ginger), allow you to enjoy different flavors while eating. Today, I opted for a regular portion, but next time I want to challenge myself with a large portion.

After leaving the Mori to Mizu no Sato Fureai-kan and arriving in Obihiro, I spent some time in the city running errands and shopping. I finished around 19:00 in Inada and decided to grab a light meal before heading home. I went to the nearest Indian restaurant, Minami-no, which was not too crowded in the parking lot but had a decent amount of people inside. I ordered the spicy hamburger curry, which comes with Indian-style roux by default. The curry arrived quickly, served in a shiny curry plate. The rich and flavorful curry, even in its spicy version, was very easy to eat, and I wished I had ordered a larger portion. Drizzling some chili oil and adjusting the flavor was also enjoyable. The hamburger, despite not being cooked in a traditional kitchen, was decent and had a fluffy texture that paired well with the curry. Doubling up on the hamburger would also be a good choice. It had been over a year since I last had Indian curry, but the taste remained the same. It truly felt like the soul curry for the people in Tokachi and the surrounding areas.

I'm in Obihiro. I have some errands in Kushiro and I'm on a one-night solo trip. I don't have much time, so I'll eat efficiently on the way. When passing through Obihiro, I have to eat at Indian, right? This time, I came to the Minami-no branch. It's about 70% full. I ordered the Pork Cutlet Curry, extra spicy, for 704 yen including tax. I tried the hamburger once at Indian, but I wasn't quite satisfied, so I stopped being adventurous. Sometimes I want to try something different, but I always end up with the Pork Cutlet Curry. This is the best after all. It's nice that you can see the cooking process at all the open kitchens. The chefs at all the restaurants work efficiently and everything is fast, which is great. The amount of curry and rice may be a bit different, but that's okay. It was ready in no time! The curry here seems to have a lot of sauce. I deliberately chose extra spicy to enjoy the hot oil. The cutlet is delicious as it is freshly fried, and it's easy to eat because it's cut into pieces. It has a rich flavor, which I think makes it a high-quality dish compared to typical Japanese curry. I enjoyed it again this time. Thank you for the meal.

Holiday outing series. On the way back from camping in Obihiro, I just had to have Indian curry, so I went to the Minami-no branch this time. Finally, I went to a branch other than the Higashi 5-jo branch. I noticed that the interior of the restaurant is similar in all the branches if it's a street-level store. When I arrived during lunchtime, about 70% of the spacious parking lot was full. I was in the mood for a hearty meal, so I ordered the extra spicy Indian curry with cutlet on top. I like my cutlet on top. The rich, creamy Indian curry combined with the crispy cutlet was delightful. As I kept eating, I found myself addicted to the flavor. Enjoyed the simple yet charming curry. A popular soul food in Obihiro where you can enjoy the combination of the curry and toppings. Customers kept coming in, and there were quite a few people ordering takeout as well. The turnover rate was fast, and watching the staff's brisk movements, I was impressed by their thorough training. I might not be able to go often, but next time, I want to try the vegetable curry. In the morning, I met up with friends in Sapporo and headed towards Tokachi. In the afternoon, we picked up another friend at Obihiro Airport. We were all excited to have lunch together, so we set out without eating anything in the morning. However, our stomachs were honest and we wanted to eat something... we were hungry. The plane was scheduled to arrive in the early afternoon and we still had some time, so we decided to have a "morning breakfast" somewhere. We thought, let's have some quick Indian curry! My friend, who was new to Indian cuisine, advised me to try Indian roux. It's been my favorite lately. I ordered shrimp curry with extra toppings and ate it with Indian roux. Shrimp shrimp Indian. My friends also followed suit. A small pot was filled with an absurd amount of shrimp, and the curry served was practically overflowing with shrimp. The Indian roux was thick and flavorful, and the shrimp was plump and juicy. Oh, I see. It really is delicious, I heard someone say next to me. See, I told you so. Customers were coming in and out, some of them surprised by the pot of curry being brought to their table. In Obihiro, the soul food is not pork bowl, it's Indian curry! Laughing.

Indian Curry Shop Minamiya Branch (Obihiro City) Needless to say, Indian is one of Obihiro's soul foods. There are 10 stores in the city and 2 stores in neighboring Kushiro. The parent company of Indian, "Fujimori," was established in 1899 (Meiji 32). The first Indian brand store opened in 1968 (Showa 43), with an incredible history. In the evening, local ladies come one after another with pots to buy curry roux. It's really heartwarming to see this common sight in the evening in Obihiro. The menu includes Indian Roux, Basic Roux, and Vegetable Roux to choose from. Indian is a beef curry made with plenty of beef. It uses dozens of spices but the spiciness is mild, making it a Hokkaido classic that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Basic is a simple roux that enhances the sweetness and umami of beef by adding onions. Vegetable is a meat-free roux with large chunks of potatoes, carrots, and onions. It has a taste that conveys the grandeur of Hokkaido and the simple kindness of local ingredients. When you become a regular, you can casually say, "I'll have the cutlet with Indian" (laughs). *In the menu, cutlet refers to Basic. I'm still on my second visit, so I ordered Indian for 462 yen, just the usual. The bowl is like a school lunch bowl, which is nice. On the table, there are pickled ginger, pickled shiso seeds (which are delicious!), and fukujinzuke (a type of pickled vegetables) - three types. Maybe they're separated by roux? ... Am I overthinking it? (laughs) Topped with fukujinzuke and pickled shiso seeds, I entered battle mode. For an additional 88 yen, I added a cheese topping, which added a gentle, slightly sweet aroma, a moderate spiciness, and an indescribable nostalgic taste. The richness of the melted cheese also added to the flavor...it's so delicious. The hot oil, a flavor-changing item, is a must. Be careful not to overdo it and ruin the taste. Add a little bit at a time to get closer to your preferred taste. But seriously, don't ruin the taste with too much spiciness, so be careful not to add too much. The title of "the second most delicious restaurant in Obihiro" is written on the website, but the most delicious one is "Mother and Wife's Cooking." That's not fair (laughs). Definitely try it out!

I love Indian, the soul food of Obihiro citizens, as a Tomakomai citizen. I haven't eaten it in a while, and my Instagram followers keep posting about Indian, so I couldn't resist! I used the Hokkaido Expressway to get there. I had the Akadori Donburi, so it was already evening by the time I arrived. Let's get to the tasting! - This taste is irresistible! - Fast, cheap, delicious! Just like Yoshinoya haha - At that time, 70% were construction workers and 30% were diners! - The spiciness level was normal haha - The girls are cute ♡ - The boys are cute ♡ - Is the manager? His white hair looks cool! (Are you complimenting him?) It was delicious!

Today, I ordered the vegetable curry with less rice and added cheese. I usually order the Indian curry with added cheese. The vegetable curry is popular and always sells out, so this time I decided to try it for the first time. I prefer the taste of the Indian curry, but I love the chunks of vegetables in this one. It's also very affordable, only 550 yen. Once I placed my order, it came out in about 10 seconds. I keep coming back to this restaurant.
