On the last night in Osaka, I wanted to eat my favorite horumon (offal), so I visited "Yakiniku Horumon Sakagami Umeda Honten" in Uninocho. When I first arrived around 7:30 PM, the restaurant was full, so I revisited around 9:10 PM. This time, the restaurant was empty. This place only has a counter and each grill is shared by two people. Since I was alone, I had a grill all to myself. Most people there were ordering the "Yakiniku Horumon Sakagami Course" (3,160 yen including tax), which includes 10 types of meat with 2 slices each, to be eaten with either white or black sauce. The staff grills the meat for you, so it's easy and the meat is cooked perfectly. This course also comes with free rice, and you can choose between yakisoba or yakiudon for the final course. Here are my thoughts on the experience:
- Yakiniku Horumon Sakagami Course ★★★★ 3,160 yen
The staff grills all the meat for you, so you just have to eat what they serve you. The grill has bean sprouts on it, and the cooked meat is placed on top of them. First, 5 types of meat to be eaten with white sauce are grilled. The white sauce is like a miso paste that you apply to the meat as you like. It has a mild flavor. Here is the order in which the meat was served:
- Tongue: Eat this as it is. It's tender and delicious.
- Maruchou: Sweet and fatty.
- Tsurami: Not as chewy as expected, with a nice sweetness.
- Tontoro: Easy to eat as the excess fat has been removed. It's delicious with a mix of sweetness and saltiness.
- Cori Cori: This is harami (skirt steak). It's mild, so I added some white sauce. It's one of my favorite cuts.
Next, the meat is grilled to be eaten with black sauce, which is sweet.
- Harami: Delicious and goes well with rice.
- Heart: Surprisingly fatty and tasty. I added more black sauce.
- Hoso: Juicy and goes well with rice.
- Akasen: Crunchy and good for pairing with beer.
- Shimachou: Perfect with beer.
Each meat type is served in 2 slices, and with rice and beer, it fills you up. I also ordered the "Kimchi Assortment," which was a nice addition. Lastly, they serve yakisoba or yakiudon. I asked for yakisoba, which was delicious and filling. The bill came out to be 6,000 yen. The atmosphere is like a nighttime yakiniku spot, but the taste is excellent. I was very satisfied and will definitely visit again on my next business trip.
