Just like Rappi, Hasesuto's yakitori bento is also well-known. Hasesuto is located in front of Hakodate Station, and you can buy their bento as soon as you get off the train. It's been a while since I visited Hasesuto, so I'm excited. First, you fill out an order sheet with the size, seasoning, and quantity, then take it to the register to pay. You wait around like in a food court until your order is ready. Once you get your yakitori bento, you can enjoy it on a nearby bench. Locals and those who have tried it before have a special way of eating the yakitori bento. You remove the lid, let the skewer handle stick out, then cover it again and pull out the skewer. Oh, and the seasoning is the sauce. I tried the spicy version before, but it was too hot for me, so I stick to the regular sauce. Both Hasesuto and Rappi are delicious, and I want to eat them both once a week. Hakodate's soul food is the best!

GLAY Teru-san's YouTube featured the yakitori bento from Hasegawa Store, which was originally from Hakodate. I thought it was a sweet and savory sauce for grilled chicken, but it turned out to be pork with leeks! It had both salt-grilled and sauce options, and both were incredibly delicious. People who have this in their local area are so lucky. Hakodate's soul food is truly amazing! It was incredibly delicious.

■ Hasegawa Store Hakodate Station Front Store Located in front of Hakodate Station, Hasegawa Store Hakodate Station Front Store is known as the soul food of Hakodate locals. It is a local chain store that operates only in Hakodate City, Hokuto City, and Nanae Town in Hokkaido, offering bento boxes and bread. The Hakodate Station Front Store is situated between the station and the morning market, opening at 8 am. The yakitori bento box is ordered by writing on a piece of paper and handing it to the staff, who then start preparing it, so it may take a little time but it is freshly made. ■ Yakitori Bento Box (Double) I ordered the yakitori bento box that allows you to enjoy both pork minced meat and salted pork ribs. Although it is called "yakitori," it actually consists of pork. It is a cultural dish in the southern part of Hokkaido, such as Hakodate and Muroran. Upon opening the lid, you will find three skewers, all covered in sauce. Interestingly, it is a two-layered bento box, with seaweed and the removed salted pork ribs hidden inside the rice. The skewers are positioned slightly off-center to fit the handle protruding out. After closing the lid once, all skewers are removed. The meat that was pushed to the edge is placed back in the center, with pickled ginger on top, and it is ready to eat! ■ Enjoying the Yakitori Bento Box Starting from the top, you will taste the richly flavored minced meat and green onions with the seaweed and white rice. The strong sauce enhances the rice, making it very appetizing. As you continue eating, the salted pork ribs and seaweed start to peek out from the rice. The fatty pork ribs are tender and lightly seasoned, providing a different taste but still complementing the rice well. There seems to be more meat than rice, adding a luxurious touch to the meal. This is truly irresistible. Yakitori lovers and seaweed bento enthusiasts alike will be highly satisfied with this bento box. I wish there was a store like this nearby.

JR Hakodate Station is about a 1-minute walk away. If you arrive at 11:00 on a weekday, there is no wait. This chain restaurant has 13 stores in the Hakodate area and is a popular local favorite! - What I received: Yakitori Bento Box (small) 530 yen Even though it's called yakitori, it comes with 3 pork and leek skewers! You can choose between salt and sauce for each skewer (e.g. 1 salt, 2 sauce). They grill it right in front of you after you order, so you can enjoy it fresh and hot! It's delicious with a nice crispy flavor! Since it's mainly for takeout, many travelers enjoy it on their way back on the plane or Shinkansen!笑

Today was a day of travel from Hakodate to Aomori. Instead of taking the Shinkansen, I decided to travel by ferry. I bought a bento box from "Hasegawa Store" in front of Hakodate Station and boarded the ferry. I chose a seat with a view of the sea. As soon as we set sail, I opened my yakitori bento box. On top of the seaweed, three skewers of yakitori (made with pork) were beautifully arranged. I ordered the small size, but the yakitori was quite substantial. I enjoyed it with the sauce. For a drink, I had a Black Nikka highball, a limited edition only available in Hokkaido. I also had some extra pork skewers as a snack after finishing the bento box. In total, I enjoyed six skewers of yakitori. After the drink, I reclined my seat to the maximum and took a nap. Thank you for the meal. This time, I went to a convenience store that has multiple locations in Hakodate City to buy their famous yakitori bento! The bento box has a groove on the edge, so you align the skewer handle with the groove, pull out the skewer while pressing down the lid, and then remove the skewer to eat. I wanted to try this process once. It was around 5:00 PM on a weekday, with 1 customer ahead of me and 4 behind me. You fill out an order form at the entrance, hand it to the staff, pay at the counter, and wait for your order. You just need to choose the type, size, and flavor of the bento. They grill the skewers on the spot, so you get a freshly made, hot bento after a short wait. I ordered the Yakitori Bento (small, with sauce) for 530 yen. It came with 200g of rice and 3 skewers of pork yakitori. Despite being called yakitori, it was actually pork skewers. The seaweed flavor was nice, and the rich, sweet sauce soaked into the rice generously. It's a popular taste among locals, and I understand why. It was delicious, and I finished it with great satisfaction. The process of pulling out the skewer was fun for a first-timer, and the taste was simply delicious. I was very happy with the experience!

Today, I enjoyed takeout pork minced meat and pork liver seasoned with salt and sauce. The Hakodate Ekimae store sometimes runs out of rice and stops serving bento boxes around 6 pm on Fridays and Saturdays (last order is at 6:45 pm), so it's better to visit early.

Hakodate specialty yakitori bowl! Is it from a convenience store or a bento shop? It's a yakitori bowl, but for some reason it's pork skewers. The yakitori bento (small) is only 500 yen!! Comes with 200g of rice and 3 pork skewers. This is just too good of a deal!! The taste is great too. Delicious sauce flavor. The pork skewers are quite large as well. Very satisfying! Could eat this every day! Thank you for the meal.

Hasegawa Store, also known as "Hasesto," is a specialty store for yakitori bento boxes in Hokkaido. They also offer other items such as Maruchan's large yakisoba bento boxes and drinks. Another famous local spot is the hamburger joints "Rappy" and "Lucky Pierrot." These two places are beloved by the local star GLAY, and are often given as gifts to music artists visiting Hakodate. The signature dish at Hasesto is the yakitori bento box. However, the twist is that the "yakitori" here actually refers to pork, not chicken. Despite looking like perfectly grilled chicken skewers, in the Donan region, "yakitori" means "pork" due to its affordability compared to chicken. In different regions, there are various types of grilled skewers such as chicken in Fukushima, pork in Higashimatsuyama, and a mix of chicken, pork, and fish in Nagato. The Hakodate station branch of Hasegawa Store, along with its other 13 locations, is often found near tourist spots, alongside Rappy. Customers place their orders on a form and wait for the skewers to be grilled over an open flame. The yakitori bento box (small) costs only 500 yen, a great deal for a meal. It comes with 200g of rice, nori, and three skewers of yakitori. You can choose between a sweet sauce or salt, with the salt option having a garlic twist for added flavor. Personally, I recommend the salt option for its rich and savory taste. Overall, Hasesto offers delicious and affordable yakitori, loved by locals and music artists alike.

Hasegawa Store in Hakodate is a convenience store known for its yakitori bento. The store has recently gained attention in the media, with a prominent sign displaying "Yakitori Bento". Inside the small store, there are a few cup noodles and drinks, but the main focus is on the yakitori bento for takeout. The ordering process has changed from verbal to filling out an order form with the choice of yakitori bento type and seasoning. I ordered a small yakitori bento for 500.04 yen (including 8% tax) with the default sauce. The bento came with three skewers of negima (chicken thigh and green onion) and a side of pickled ginger. The container has a groove for easy skewer removal. The meat used is pork belly, as historically settlers in Hakodate used pork as a substitute for chicken when making yakitori. The sauce is similar to eel kabayaki sauce and complements the pork well. Overall, it was delicious.

Visit to Hakodate City's Soul Food on September 26, 2022!! Hasegawa Store's Yakitori Bento Box!! ~ Hasegawa Store Hakodate Ekimae Branch ~ After returning to my home in Osaka from Hakodate, tonight's dinner was the famous Yakitori Bento Box from Hasegawa Store (known as Hasesuto's Yaki Bento)! Despite being called Yakitori, it consists of pork belly with green onions skewers, not chicken. Hasegawa Store is a convenience store founded in Hakodate, Hokkaido, and in 2004, it formed a capital and business alliance with Hokkaido's convenience store chain, Seicomart. The signature dish, the in-store made Yakitori Bento Box, has been maintaining the same taste since its release in September 1978. The bento box also has a limited-time menu, and for September, it was the "Yakitori Bento Box with Edamame Corn Butter." Unfortunately, this specific store did not carry it, so I opted for the Yakitori Bento Box (salt) to go. The flavor options include "Tare (soy sauce-based)," "Salt," "Salt Tare," "Uma-kara Tare," and "Miso Tare." A distinctive feature is spraying Hakodate wine with a mist sprayer as a hidden flavor. The bento box container has grooves where you can place the handle side of the yakitori skewer, close the lid, and remove the skewer along with the ingredients. Time to taste it!! Salt-flavored pork belly with green onions on top of nori bento! The salt flavor has a hint of garlic that is appetizing rather than overpowering. This is delicious!! The pickled ginger adds a nice touch♪ It was incredibly delicious♫ #HokkaidoGourmet #HakodateGourmet #YakitoriBentoBox #HasegawaStore #Hasesuto #Hasesuto'sYakitoriBento #Hasesuto'sYakiBento

I arrived in Hakodate on my trip to Hokkaido in early autumn 2022. On the third day in Hakodate, I am heading to my final destination, Sapporo, on the Hakodate Limited Express New Star train. I will depart from Hakodate Station Terminal at 10:00 am and arrive at Sapporo Odori Bus Center at 3:46 pm. It's a 5-hour and 46-minute bus journey. Hokkaido is vast, so I will need to have lunch along the way. The bus will make a 15-minute rest stop at a highway parking area, but there won't be enough time to visit a restaurant, so I will have to eat a bento box or some bread. This time, I chose the yakitori bento box from Hasesto, a well-known specialty in Hakodate. I found out that Hasesto opened a store in front of Hakodate Station two years ago. It's just a minute's walk towards the morning market area. The small shop specializes in yakitori bento boxes, cup noodles, miso soup, and merchandise, rather than a convenience store format. There are two staff members, and you need to fill out an order form with the desired bento box, receive a ticket, and wait for your order to be ready. It takes about 10 minutes, but since reservations are not accepted, you'll have to wait. The yakitori bento box in medium size with sauce costs 619 yen (tax included). It has been 2 years and 8 months since I last had a yakitori bento box, back in January 2020 at the Hasesto Chiyodai store. As you may know, Hokkaido's "yakitori bento box" is not grilled chicken skewers but grilled pork minced meat bento box. Since I had the salt flavor last time, I chose the sauce flavor this time. The bento box consists of 3 pork minced meat skewers and 1 vegetable skewer on a bed of 250g rice with seaweed. Local people who are used to eating it know how to remove the skewers using the lid. I tried to imitate them before boarding the bus and managed to do it, although the lid cracked a bit. The pork and leek skewers and the vegetable skewer with eggplant, leek, and shishito pepper were delicious, whether with salt or sauce. Unfortunately, the yakitori bento box had cooled down, so its deliciousness was somewhat diminished. I still want to try it fresh and hot. Bon appétit. I will definitely go back for more.

When I heard about the specialty of Hakodate, I wanted to eat it, but I couldn't find the opportunity at the restaurants. Finally, at the end of my trip, I decided to buy two flavors, normal and spicy, near the station. I watched them being grilled, which was interesting. When I received them, a delicious aroma wafted out, making me eager to eat them. Although I was full, I couldn't resist and microwaved them at home. The skewers were easy to remove from the skewer remover, and the meat and green onions were delicious. The ultimate deliciousness came from combining them with the rice soaked in sauce. I couldn't stop drinking beer because of the incredible taste. I finished eating them in a moment because they were so delicious. I will definitely buy them again when I go back to Hakodate.

After many years, I had yakitori in Hakodate. I chose the tare sauce. You write your order on paper, hand it in, and when your order is ready, a buzzer goes off. I didn't have to wait long before being called. While waiting inside, my clothes absorbed the nice smoky smell, becoming infused with the aroma of yakitori.

One of Hakodate's specialties is the yakitori bento. I was planning to take the express train to Sapporo in the morning, but even though I had seafood bowl at the morning market, I woke up early and my stomach was empty before getting on the train, so I got a yakitori bento as a snack for the journey. They grill the raw yakitori in front of you and put it on top of rice after you order. The fragrant smell fills the air, and as I watch the yakitori being grilled in front of me, my stomach gradually starts to growl, which is strange. I enjoyed it on the express train to Sapporo, and when I opened the lid, the yakitori was still freshly grilled, with a good chew but tender and delicious. I apologize for the food temptation on the almost private express train.

Yakitori bento (small) 490 yen A yakitori bento called "yakitori bento". This is also one of Hakodate's specialties, so you should try it at least once. For Kansai people, the sauce was a bit too strong... (><) - The part you hold with the skewer is not sticky with sauce. - The seaweed is easy to cut with chopsticks. Overall, this bento showed consideration for the person eating it, and I liked that. Very satisfying meal (^^) Thank you for the meal!

I found a famous restaurant in front of Hakodate Station and bought a bento box to take out. I decided to eat it outside since it was takeout only. They cook it right in front of you when you order, and they are very efficient. It's a chicken rice bowl with grilled pork on top, a simple dish. The pork belly tastes similar to BBQ pork belly, and it's delicious. However, I feel like the pork skewers would taste better if eaten right after grilling. In fact, I felt like I didn't really need the rice.

On my way back, I got takeout from here and ate it at the airport. It seems like this shop makes the bento after you order. I wish I could have eaten it hot... The smell of grilled pork in the shop is amazing haha. The quality for 490 yen is top-notch! The grilled pork was irresistible, probably because it was grilled on a skewer. The aroma and taste were fantastic. And the sauce was delicious too. It goes perfectly with rice. I definitely want to visit this place again.

Today was a travel day to Muroran. I enjoyed a hot spring treatment at Yunokawa Onsen until the last minute before check-out. After being picked up by a bus at Hakodate Station, I went to Maruzen for standing bar drinking in the morning. For lunch, I bought a yakitori bento from Hasegawa Store in front of Hakodate Station. It's nice to be able to enjoy freshly made food. Let's eat at Izakaya Super Hokuto and have a gin and tonic. It's great that you can get canned cocktails nowadays. Let's enjoy the freshly made bento. Three pieces of yakitori sit on the seaweed. I asked for sauce. Although it's called a yakitori bento, it is made with pork. The slightly sweet sauce goes well with alcohol. It was delicious until the end. The view from the express train window is beautiful in Hokkaido. Sometimes you can even see the sea. Even if the gin and tonic runs out, it's okay. There's a bottle of Big Man shochu waiting for me. Thank you for the meal.
