Owner patissier Toshiyuki Okubo trained at Nakatanitei for 2 years, at a cake shop in Tarumi, at Hotel Hankyu International, and at an Italian restaurant where he was in charge of desserts. He finally opened his own shop on December 12, 2012, just a 5-minute walk southwest from JR Osaka Metro Morinomiya Station, near Morinomiya Q's Mall and Morinomiya Piloti Hall, next to Jonan Park. The shop is located on Kokubuncho Street, one street west of Tamatsukuri Street, which is a main road in Osaka. Toshiyuki Okubo handles the pastry making, while his sister Nami is in charge of sales and the café. Upon entering, you will see a display shelf on the left side selling baked goods, jams, tea packets, wine, etc. In front is a showcase of fresh pastries, with the cashier on the right. There is a small seating area on the right side with 2 tables and 4 seats in total. The shop was originally takeout-only, so the seating area feels like an added bonus. The space is not large, but it feels spacious due to the layout. You can choose a cake from the showcase and a tea from the tea packets displayed on the left side. I chose a Peach Shortcake for 660 yen and an Assam tea from Ronnefeldt Tea for 110 yen. The total came to 754 yen after deducting the 8% takeout tax and adding a new 10% tax. The drink prices were very reasonable, and the staff designated the seating without much input from the customers. The Peach Shortcake was a delightful treat, with layers of fluffy sponge cake, cream, and peach blocks coated in jelly. The tea was served in a cup, and the Assam tea was a great choice. The system at the shop is straightforward: enter, choose your cake and tea, pay at the cashier, and wait for your order to be served.
