I came to Tomakomai to meet someone who has done me a favor. That person is not TOM775 who lives in Tomakomai. I don't feel any gratitude towards Matty or Kanchan either. Before visiting, we decided to have lunch first. My partner is also with me today. We need to be careful about where we eat because my partner has a wheat allergy. Noodles like ramen are not an option. Western dishes like curry rice, hamburger, Italian, and French are mostly not suitable either. However, we can still enjoy Japanese cuisine, Korean cuisine, and Chinese cuisine that do not contain wheat. Also, dishes like soup curry or spicy curry are usually safe. We don't come to Tomakomai often, so we decided to visit some tourist spots before having lunch. Even though they are tourist spots, I have some knowledge of this area because I have friends who used to live in Suhara-cho. After wandering around for a bit, we ended up choosing this place. We sat at the counter, where an elderly man with 50 years of experience was in charge of cooking. The lady in charge of the hall was efficient and worked diligently. I wonder if they are a married couple? My partner ordered a sushi set, which came with a fresh oyster! It's rare to have fresh oysters, especially due to concerns like Norovirus. I decided to have a Hokki clam bowl (raw). The Hokki clam bowl is delicious! It's a type of bivalve mollusk found on most beaches in Hokkaido, especially in Tomakomai. The tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) here is incredibly tasty! I couldn't help but exclaim, "The tamagoyaki is delicious!" The man cooking even chuckled, and it was evident that he was pleased. The wasabi in the Hokki clam bowl was quite strong, and I accidentally choked on it. The man making sushi immediately placed a box of tissues on the counter and said, "I was in a rush today, so I put extra wasabi. I'm sorry, was it too spicy?" The lady also realized she had forgotten to serve us tea and apologized. Some people claim to have an absolute sense of taste, unaffected by the ambiance of a restaurant, but you should try eating at a place like this. The delicious sushi can turn into "the most delicious sushi" when served at the counter. This place, like many others, is ultimately about the people. The taste of the food depends on the people working there. Don't underestimate tourist spots—this place has 50 years of flavor. If you're ever unsure where to eat lunch, choose this place. I will definitely come back in the future.
