Whenever I come back to my hometown of Obihiro from Sapporo, I always make sure to visit Indian! Although the prices have gone up slightly compared to before, personally I feel that it was actually too cheap before. Even at the current prices, it is still cheap, delicious, and has the best cost performance! After finishing the meal, it is convenient to be able to buy souvenirs for my coworkers at Don Quijote or snacks to eat in the car.

I went to the Indian Curry Shop at MEGA Don Quijote Nishi-Obihiro store! It was another hot day. This summer has been unusually sunny since June, especially in July, which has become the hottest summer on record nationwide, even worldwide. It was a memorable and scorching summer. The Indian Curry Shop is located inside Don Quijote, and it was nice and cool inside, with the air conditioning on full blast. Luckily, the timing was good and the place was not crowded. I sat at the end of the counter and checked the menu. I decided to go with the Indian Curry, medium spicy, as it's my go-to choice. It's always delicious, with a creamy texture that I love. The green pickles of daikon radish, cucumber, and shiso leaves complement the curry perfectly. It's a curry that never fails to impress. It's a forever favorite for me.

I tried Indian curry with cutlet for the first time! The girl who served me had a beginner's mark (probably a high school part-timer), so I was a little worried if she understood my request for cutlet on top, but she did! However, I feel like the cutlet was fried a bit too much. The aroma is not great and it's a bit dry. But still, the delicious Indian curry with its rich sauce is addictive! There are red, green, and pink accompaniments, but I personally prefer a lot of red!

I went to "Curry Shop Indian MEGA Don Quijote Nishi Obihiro Store" located inside Obihiro Don Quijote. I ordered the shrimp curry with less rice. The shrimp was well thawed and very delicious.

No matter which restaurant you go to in Obihiro city, the taste and preparation are always the same. I often go to the Nishi Obihiro store inside Mega Don Quijote, which opens early at 10 o'clock. It's fast, cheap, delicious, perfect. There are different types of curry roux available, but I prefer the spicy Indian roux and add a little "hot oil" from the table. The toppings are good too, but I always keep it simple.

After finishing work in Kitami City today, I arrived in Obihiro City after a 3-hour non-stop drive. Since I skipped lunch, I decided to have dinner before checking into the hotel. I have been coming to Obihiro City for over 10 years and have visited almost all of the "Indian" restaurants, but now I aim to post reviews for all of them on Tabelog. Today, I ordered the usual classic "Indian Curry ¥528" with an additional "Cutlet ¥286". It had been about a year since my last visit, and I noticed that the prices had increased. The price went up by about 10%, so while I didn't think it was expensive, the cost performance had decreased a bit. I asked for the cutlet to be added to keep the crispy texture of the cutlet from start to finish, following a tip from a local business associate. The order was ready in less than 10 minutes. You can adjust the spiciness with chili powder in 5 levels for free, but I prefer to adjust the spiciness while enjoying the flavor with hot oil on the table. The rich and creamy Indian roux with tender beef was as delicious as ever! The crispy cutlet paired perfectly with it. I finished the Indian curry after savoring it. I will be staying in Obihiro for 4 nights on this business trip, so I am looking forward to how many times I can visit Indian. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

"I tried the 'Hamburger Indian Roux (spicy)' for 726 yen. I have been to many Indian restaurants before, but this was my first time at MEGA Don. The taste was the same, but the atmosphere varied depending on the location. Here, young female staff members work quickly. This time, I ordered the hamburger. I don't usually order hamburgers, so I was looking forward to it. It was quickly brought to me as usual. It smelled good. I was served with condiments. Hmm, it's spicy. But delicious. Even though it's spicy, it's still good. I used to eat very spicy dishes like 'extra spicy' or 'extremely spicy,' but now I find that normal spiciness is the most delicious. The hamburger wasn't too coarse, it was soft. The roux was as delicious as always. I don't need to say much because Indian is famous here."

I stopped by Mega Don Quijote in Obihiro for shopping, and my wife said she was hungry, so we went to Indian restaurant first. Unlike the food court style, Indian at Don Quijote has its own section, so you can enjoy curry in a calm environment. I ordered my favorite shrimp curry for 748 yen. It was quick, cheap, and delicious. No complaints at all. I ordered it with normal spiciness, but I added hot oil halfway through to make it spicier. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. On 08/22/14, I had dinner while on a business trip, I had "Spicy Vegetables for 528 yen & Hamburg Steak for 198 yen". I am really busy on Sunday afternoons. I work hard and my quitting time is unpredictable every day. That's why I prepare the main dishes for the week on weekday nights. Well, I outsource the seasoning to Maru***ya or Ki***man, though ^^; I finished work today after 5 pm. I was so hungry. But I didn't feel like cooking anymore. I sat down here as if being sucked in. As a single person, I have to eat vegetables, so I ordered vegetable curry. But I also wanted some meat. I chose the hamburger as a topping. While waiting, I asked. I know the pickled radish and pickled ginger, but what is this in the middle? "It's pickled shiso leaves and daikon radish leaves." "It goes really well with curry." The vegetable curry was served soon. Unlike the Indian curry with only beef, this one has lots of ingredients. Potatoes, carrots, and onions are in it. I took a bite. Yes, the spices are strong and it's delicious! The combination is different from Indian curry. The thickness of the hamburger is also good. And the pickled shiso leaves and daikon radish leaves. On November 24, 2021, I went to Indian MEGA Don Quijote in Nishi-Obihiro to support the food and beverage industry while being cautious. I arrived at a somewhat odd time with some free time and decided to try their soul food, which is open from 10:00. The place offers takeout and is located inside MEGA Don Quijote in Nishi-Obihiro. The interior has a few tables and counter seats. I ordered the Seafood Indian Roux for 781 yen, added a cutlet topping for 264 yen, and upgraded to a larger portion for 148 yen. The Seafood Indian Roux was delicious with a rich flavor, and I particularly enjoyed the shrimp. I will definitely come back to try their curry next time. Indian MEGA Don Quijote in Nishi-Obihiro is open from 10:00 to 21:00 with no regular holidays.

Today is a holiday. Both my wife and I have the day off according to the calendar. So, we decided to go on a drive with our beloved dog, Nachan, and my wife suggested heading towards Tokachi area. Even though long-distance driving can be tiring, I'm looking forward to visiting some new places! First, we decided to have lunch, and the choice was clear from the beginning. When in Obihiro, you must try this curry shop! "Curry Shop Indian MEGA Don - Don Quijote Nishi Obihiro Store" I wanted to eat at Indian. Any branch would have been fine, but my wife suggested this one where we can also do some shopping. We arrived right at the opening time. There were already two customers waiting to take out their curry pots and sauce. The menu was checked inside the restaurant. I chose the pork cutlet curry, and my wife chose the hamburger curry. I went for level 4 spiciness, while my wife chose level 1. The restaurant smelled incredibly delicious as we waited for our dishes. After about 10 minutes, our curries arrived. It's been a while since we last met! The thick, gooey sauce is just amazing. I took a bite right away. Yep, Indian curry has that unique taste... delicious! I used to prefer thick curry sauce over watery ones, so I didn't eat much of places like Coco Ichibanya. Nowadays, I also enjoy watery curries, but sometimes I crave for this thick, gooey type. The pork cutlet was thicker than I expected, with a crispy coating. It's a bit challenging to eat with the thick sauce, but when eaten together, it's delicious. However, I feel like the hamburger curry I had before goes better with this sauce. My wife also enjoyed her long-awaited Indian curry. I tried a bit of the hamburger, and indeed, it might be tastier. In any case, both of us were very satisfied with our lunch. We're planning to drive quite a bit today, not just in Obihiro. I'm looking forward to being able to review more places! Second visit to Hashigo Curry. Located in Indian, which is a tenant in Don Quijote in Nishi-Obihiro Newtown. The compact interior due to being a tenant. Ordered "Indian Roux with Shrimp (¥649) - Spicy" with less rice. The spiciness is significantly lower compared to the previous extra spicy option. However, the depth of the Indian roux flavor seems to penetrate to the core of the body more in this dish. The shrimp is plentiful and delicious! Unlike some places that only have a few shrimp pieces, this dish is filled with them. Both the Nishi-21jo store and this Don Quijote store were out of "vegetable roux." I have only tried this Indian roux and the basic roux so far. I would like to try the vegetable roux someday, but it's hard to come across.

Indian, a local chain of curry restaurants in Obihiro City, Hokkaido. For those living in Obihiro, it may seem normal and not stand out, but the greatness of Indian becomes apparent when viewed from a distance. While seafood is often mentioned as the go-to food in Hokkaido for those outside the region, for local residents, Indian is the beloved and unique soul food. There are now 10 Indian restaurants in the Obihiro area (plus 1 at Fujimori), and 2 in the Kushiro area. Fujimori is a long-established restaurant operated by Fujimori Shokai, the company behind Indian, located in front of Obihiro Station. You can also enjoy Indian curry there. I usually have my go-to restaurants, but I finally visited this one, which I hadn't reviewed until now, in order to complete my conquest of all the Indian restaurants. It was 1:03 PM, and there were many customers before and after me. While I missed the peak hours, the popularity of the place was still evident. In the kitchen, there was the commanding store manager, an older lady, along with a young man who seemed to be washing dishes, and two young women of small and plump stature, busily attending to the customers. There was a notice urging customers to wear masks and disinfect, but otherwise, everything was pretty much the same in terms of seating and such. I ordered the "Indian Katsu Medium Spicy" when the water was brought to me. It arrived in about 9 minutes, and oh, yes, this is it! It's been about 14 months since we last met, and my excitement is at its peak! Let's enjoy it with extra Fukushin pickles! It's delicious as always. The unique, thick Indian roux that clings to everything is the best. The katsu is crispy and cut into bite-sized pieces for easy eating, which is a nice touch. Cheap, delicious, and served quickly! This is the fast food that Obihiro is proud of, and the satisfaction after finishing the meal is beyond words. Now I have finally conquered all the Indian restaurants! Indian curry in Obihiro... Last time, I had the basic curry, so this time I went for the hamburger with Indian curry sauce, medium spicy. I tried the "Indian Curry Mega Don" at the Don Quijote West Obihiro store, which is served from 10 a.m. The Extreme Spicy Shrimp Curry has a complex flavor profile with a delicious beef umami, sweet onion, and a hint of various spices that cannot be replicated at home. I moved from Kushiro to Obihiro and had some time before getting soba, so I decided to start with soft serve ice cream. Unfortunately, the shop was closed again, just like last time. Since I had some time left, I decided to visit "Mega Don Quijote" for the second round of Indian curry without rice. The staff were very friendly, with two women and one man. I ordered the spicy curry without rice for takeout, priced at 399 yen. I weighed the curry and it was only 240g, which was surprising. The color of the curry was lighter than what I am used to. Overall, the taste was less spicy and had a hint of sweetness and acidity, which was different from what I expected. It seems that the taste can vary depending on the cook.

Obihiro = Indian. It feels like Golden Week... Wherever you go, there are crowds of people... Driving around, looking at storefronts, most target stores have long lines. It's nice to see the city thriving. I tell myself that. Oh, got a seat. Even though it's outside of lunchtime, I thought I might have to wait in line, but I was able to sit at the counter right away. However, it seems like everyone is waiting for curry. I quickly ordered the Indian cutlet with medium spiciness. Looking at the menu afterwards, I realize that prices have gone up compared to what I remember... It's only natural. The fact that the store is expanding is proof that everyone wants it. It's taking quite a while to wait... It's all about timing. Just as other people finish eating and start to leave, my order arrives... But to my disappointment, it seems that the cutlet was fried in advance. I prefer the freshly fried ones, with that thin and fine texture... Nevertheless, I enjoy it. This is my first time at this store. The curry is on the firmer side, which is not my preference. I like it a bit softer. I pour some oil around the edge about twice when I'm halfway through eating. I finish with some pickled ginger. When in Obihiro, this is a must-visit place. I remember the days when I used to eat here three times a week... Thank you for the meal.

On a whim on my day off... I went to Indian curry restaurant IKZO!!! (a bit late). I used the navigation from Kitami and was surprised when I was charged 930 yen for the highway toll... I'm not good at driving but I managed to arrive safely. "You can do shopping at Mega Donki here," I thought as I entered this Indian curry restaurant (^_^;) Inside, there is a U-shaped counter. Probably accessible from Donki as well. I ordered the cheapest regular curry. The staff asked, "How spicy do you want it?" and flipped the menu for me. It started from "normal," so I ended up saying, "Medium spicy!" The presence of hot towels was nice, especially Keipon-san... lol. The service was quick. One staff member at the U-shaped counter would scoop more rice while another staff member would heat up the curry in a small pot right in front of you. Once it's heated, they pour it over the rice and serve it. After the first bite, I felt a sour taste, but by the second bite, the sourness was gone. "The chunky curry! It's similar to the power of curry~ lol." I regretted it, I ordered medium spicy but it's not spicy... lol. The meat is like blocks, small blocks that split. They pour oil in the middle, giving it a nice level of spiciness. Well, I guess I can't be satisfied without ordering "spicy"... (At home, I usually eat medium spicy Jawa curry or add a can of tomatoes to Golden curry. I've been eating medium spicy retort curry for a long time. This is a business trip lunch in Obihiro. It's one of the stops on my quest to visit all the restaurants in the area. No particular comments, just consistently good. I love spicy food, but for some reason, Indian food is best at medium spice for me (゜-゜). I decided to go for extra spicy this time and regretted it (゜-゜). I'll go back to medium spice next month.
