(2013.07/First visit) On the first night in Hokkaido, I visited the ramen restaurant Yukikaze, and there was a unique restaurant that caught my attention called "Itadakimasu." From the unique name, they offer purebred Suffolk sheep raised in Hokkaido. It's a rare opportunity to enjoy purebred Suffolk sheep raised on their own farm! I was so intrigued that after visiting a beer garden and having soup curry, I decided to stop by. It was close to being full, and my wife was losing her appetite, so I casually told her, "The owner here was the only Japanese disciple of the real Peter from Heidi." The restaurant had outdoor seating in front of the tables and inside. Of course, Team Kaeru sat outside. It was a luxurious experience to enjoy Genghis Khan while watching the people passing by in Susukino. By the way, the Genghis Khan I had at Daruma Nikaitei yesterday was 735 yen per serving. The prices here are as follows: ・Genghis Khan 980 yen ・Sirloin 1550 yen ・Shoulder sirloin 1550 yen ・Front belly 1550 yen ・Filet 3000 yen ・Middle cut 1550 yen ・Cracow sausage 525 yen ・Liver 880 yen ・Sirloin tip 920 yen ・Heart 1200 yen ・Tongue 1500 yen ・Additional vegetables 210 yen ・Draft beer 525 yen ・Highball 450 yen Team Kaeru, who had the impression that Genghis Khan is a good deal, kept exclaiming "Expensive!" and "Amazing!" while looking at the menu. But when they saw the meat, they were impressed by its freshness and pink color. And when they tasted it, they exclaimed, "Delicious!" and "So tasty!" The lamb meat had a sweetness to it when chewed, reminding them of the taste from when they visited a sheep farmer's house about 30 years ago. They disregarded their preconceived notion of thoroughly cooking Genghis Khan meat and enjoyed it while it was still pink and tender. Also, using only salt and pepper instead of sauce was also delicious. Itadakimasu. It's a bit pricey, but still delicious Genghis Khan. Just as there are a variety of barbecue restaurants, it's nice to have different types of Genghis Khan restaurants as well. It was a delightful meal in the enjoyable outdoor seating, but the price was double that of other restaurants. I'm not saying that plastic chairs are bad, but adding a little more value to the facilities wouldn't hurt, that's just my two cents. Thank you for the meal.

We chose to have dinner at the popular Genghis Khan specialty restaurant, Itadakimasu, in Susukino on our first day of traveling to Hokkaido (Sapporo/Otaru) as a couple. This restaurant is always crowded with a line outside due to its limited seating, but it's worth the wait. They use fresh Suffolk sheep meat from their own ranch, which is praised for its lack of any gamey taste and delicious flavor. We arrived around 6 pm and waited for about 40 minutes before being seated at the counter. We ordered Genghis Khan (980 yen), loin (1790 yen), shoulder loin (1790 yen), and skirt meat (1790 yen). The beautifully colored sheep meat arrived quickly, and we grilled it ourselves on the hot plate. The meat was so fresh and tasty, especially the loin. The Kuppa, a sheepherder's soup, was also complimentary with a coupon and was delicious as well. Overall, we were very satisfied with the meal, although some might find the lack of a distinct flavor and the higher prices compared to beef yakiniku as drawbacks. However, the freshness of the meat guarantees even those who are not fans of Genghis Khan will enjoy it. If you're looking to try Genghis Khan, this is the place to go. Thank you.

The restaurant only has counter seats in a U-shape layout. Reservations are not accepted, so you have to wait in line. The menu is extensive, offering a variety of cuts to enjoy. When seated, a regular potato salad is served as an appetizer. The Genghis Khan hot pot is placed near the kitchen, making it difficult to manage the vegetables. I tried the recommended Genghis Khan set (980 yen excluding tax) with 2 shoulder loins, liver, and sausage. I was disappointed by the small portion of Genghis Khan and the slight smell of the meat. The other cuts were tasty, but the shoulder loins were too small to feel satisfied. Overall, considering the service, atmosphere, food, and price, I don't think I will visit again.

Visited the restaurant on a holiday at 5:00 PM and had to wait for 45 minutes. Luckily, they put up a sign saying they were closing after 5:00 PM. When asked if it's worth waiting in line to eat, I was like, "Hmm." The sauce was a bit thin. Had Genghis Khan (grilled lamb), shoulder loin, liver, and lamb soup.

I didn't go to the Genghis Khan restaurant with the expectation of it being a place that specializes in Hokkaido lamb, but it's not common to find a Genghis Khan restaurant open for lunch. After researching and recalling recommendations from a taxi driver and a magazine, I decided to try "Itadakimasu." The restaurant seemed to focus a lot on the quality of the meat, but I wished they had paid more attention to the overall atmosphere of the place. The area with the charcoal grills was also used as a work station, so it felt a bit chaotic with staff working and washing dishes while we were eating. There were some moments that felt a bit off, like the forced appetizer and being asked for a drink order the moment we sat down. It felt like a very business-like izakaya system. However, if the meat is delicious, these things don't matter, right? But when I tried the Genghis Khan, the cuts were too small to really taste the flavor. I personally wished they were cut a bit larger. Even if the cuts were small, it would have been fine if there was a generous portion on the plate, but unfortunately, the serving size was a bit disappointing. The most delicious part was the loin, but it was quite expensive and the portion was small. I guess due to the focus on quality meat, the cost and portion size were affected. Maybe this place is more suited for those who specifically care about Hokkaido produce, but I'm the type who doesn't mind as long as it's delicious, so this restaurant wasn't quite right for me. I left the restaurant feeling satisfied. I have a blog called "Yakiniku Zukan" where I record and share my experiences of eating at barbecue restaurants all over Japan. Feel free to check out my blog for more barbecue restaurant information.

I couldn't visit during the day and night before, so I decided to stop by for lunch on the last day. I ordered the ribeye, loin, and liver. The ribeye had a good mix of fatty and lean parts, providing a variety of textures in one dish. The liver had a slight smell to it, but personally I prefer chicken or beef liver. The loin, on the other hand, was incredibly delicious. It was tender, sweet, and went well with both beer and rice.

Review: Found a popular restaurant on Tabelog in Susukino and decided to visit.
Taste: Extremely delicious! The Genghis Khan was easy to eat and a good size.
Crowdedness and waiting time: Expected it to be busy, so went around 5 pm and there was no wait.
Atmosphere: Only counter seating, a bit small.
Cost performance: Good! Great value for the price.
Access: Good
It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant opened at 11:30 and I arrived at 11:25. I ordered Genghis Khan, loin, and shoulder loin. The Genghis Khan was almost rare and delicious. It was cooked on both sides and had a great texture. It didn't smell bad at all. I couldn't stop eating. Then I ordered skirt meat, fillet, and Krakow sausage. The sausage was recommended to be cooked well, so I left it as it is. The fillet is expensive but the Genghis Khan was enough. I could eat as much as I wanted. I also went to two other sushi restaurants this time, but this one was by far the most impressive.

I came to Sapporo and wanted to try Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) since I'm here! However, most places don't serve it for lunch, so I took a chance and visited this place. Although it seemed like they were open all day, they actually stopped serving lunch halfway through. Luckily, I made it in time. I lined up before 12:00, and by the time I got to eat, there were only a few meat options left, but the Genghis Khan and heart I got were both delicious. The fresh lamb didn't have a strong smell.

I can't eat mutton (I can't stand the smell, even though I love spicy curry), so I wanted to overcome it somehow and tried the best-looking place. When I entered the restaurant, the usual unpleasant smell wasn't there, so I had high expectations! I was surprised when I tasted it! It was incredibly delicious. The staff was also very friendly, and I ended up overeating. I would love to come back to this place again!

I arrived at the popular Sapporo Genghis Khan restaurant, where they serve purebred Suffolk sheep, called "Itadakimasu", 20 minutes before it opened on a weekday lunchtime. Surprisingly, I got the best spot in line! By the time it opened at 11:30 am, there were already about 10 people waiting. Suffolk sheep have less fat and more lean meat, known for their high-quality meat with little to no gamey taste. Suffolk sheep are famous for their black faces and limbs, like the animated character Shaun the Sheep. Due to their low production volume and higher price compared to other types of sheep meat, they are hard to come by. Suffolk sheep meat is said to have less gamey taste and more umami and sweetness, but for me, it lacked the distinctive smell I enjoy in lamb meat used in Genghis Khan dishes in my hometown of Nagoya. The menu for today cost 6,369 yen, including Genghis Khan for 980 yen, shoulder loin for 1,790 yen, Krakow sausage for 580 yen, liver for 980 yen, small sheep soup for 630 yen, draft beer for 500 yen, consumption tax for 579 yen, and other drinks.

I arrived around 12:30 on Saturday and there were already about 2 groups waiting in line. I waited for about 30 minutes to get in. I didn't feel any strong smell of lamb, and the taste was refreshing. Personally, I liked the fillet the best! (It's a bit pricey though...) I wanted to try the liver as well, but it seemed they didn't have it when I was there. If you want to try a variety of dishes, it's better to go early. Also, the staff were nice and explained how to cook the meat with a smile, which was great!

First visit. The lamb fillet I had was very rare and exquisite. I decided to add the "Genghis Khan" dish as well, thinking everything else on the menu would be delicious. I also wanted to try the internal organs.

I am here with a group of people who are interested in the reviews, and we visited the restaurant on a weekday afternoon. There were two groups ahead of us, but we were able to enter in less than 10 minutes. Inside, there are 31 seats in total, as it is a popular Genghis Khan (Mongolian barbecue) restaurant in Susukino. We ordered "Genghis Khan," "Shoulder Loin," "Rice," and "Non-alcoholic Beer." The meat overall was delicious, but I felt like it could have had a bit more flavor. As expected from a popular restaurant, there was no smell of lamb meat. There are many Genghis Khan restaurants in Susukino, so you might find other places more satisfying. We didn't order the fillet meat this time, but it might be delicious here. It's convenient that they are open from lunchtime until late at night. Thank you for the meal!

I sat at a counter seat in the shape of the letter "コ". There was a Genghis Khan hot pot placed one step below the counter, at a perfect distance for using tongs to cook and take food. The heat from the pot didn't reach me, which was nice. The hot pot was already prepared with bean sprouts and onions, and beef fat was placed on top. I ordered the Genghis Khan dish cooked "medium rare", which was very tender. I prefer it with salt rather than sauce. Also, the rice was delicious, so try mixing it with the meat. Thank you for the meal!

I visited this restaurant during a trip with my wife because I like Genghis Khan. We arrived quite early, but had to wait for an hour and a half. My impression is that it wasn't worth the wait. The food was delicious, but quite expensive. Also, for some reason, only my meat wouldn't cook properly. When I asked the staff if the fire was too weak, they said the air holes for the charcoal were closed. It was a bit disappointing to hear that after already cooking several types of meat. It was a little sad to experience this during our trip.

In the Susukino area, there were few Genghis Khan (Mongolian barbecue) restaurants open for lunch, so I chose this one based on reviews. When I arrived 5 minutes before opening time on a Saturday, there were already 5-6 groups waiting in front of the restaurant. Even after opening time, we had to wait for over 10 minutes before being seated. It was a hot day, so I started with a cold Sapporo Classic beer. Delicious! We ordered Genghis Khan, tongue, Krakow sausage, fillet, skirt, liver, and Fuwa (rare cut). They were all tasty without any unpleasant smell. The Krakow sausage took a while to cook, so it's better to order it first and have it placed on the grill. It was crispy and juicy. Fuwa had a unique texture, kind of like a marshmallow. The staff were friendly, some even gave us tips on how to cook the meat, while others were a bit indifferent. It cost around 7,000 yen per person, which felt luxurious for lunch.

To the popular Genghis Khan restaurant "Itadakimasu" where reservations are not possible. The types of meat available vary depending on the day's delivery. The entrance door lists the types of meat available. I tried the classic Genghis Khan (photo, one serving) and the recommended shoulder loin and liver. The liver was cooked thoroughly, while the other meats were served medium rare. The liver had a strong liver flavor, traditional and might not be suitable for those who dislike strong flavors. The shoulder loin had a good chew to it, recommended for those who enjoy meaty textures. The Genghis Khan had a variety of cuts, light and easy to eat without any strong flavors. The sauce was slightly tangy soy-based, similar to ponzu. I personally prefer salt and pepper seasoning.

I've never had lamb meat that was so odorless and without any strong taste before! It was delicious! The vegetables and garlic cooked in beef fat were also amazing! A serving of Genghis Khan (Mongolian barbecue) is around 80g per person and costs about 1000 yen. When you want to eat until you're full, you end up ordering multiple plates. It was so delicious that I ended up ordering several plates.

After coming to Sapporo, I had to try the Genghis Khan at least once. I appreciate that this restaurant is open all day, unlike many others that only open at night. But it's not just because they're open all day, it's because the food is delicious. I always fall in love with the taste of the Genghis Khan here in Sapporo. I will definitely come back again.

Nice to meet you. My name is Ikku! Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am currently on a long business trip to Hokkaido and visiting various restaurants. I have been using recommendations from locals and food ranking websites like Tabelog to find delicious meals. When you think of Hokkaido, you think of Genghis Khan (grilled lamb)! I went to a place that is known for their Genghis Khan dish. The Genghis Khan here has zero gamey taste, making it enjoyable even for those who don't like the usual strong flavor. For those who enjoy the gamey taste, it may feel a bit lacking in that aspect due to its freshness. The staff were very friendly and helpful in teaching me how to grill the Genghis Khan for the first time. Everyone here has a great personality!! I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the feast!

In the area, there was a popular restaurant called "Itadakimasu" where they didn't take reservations. People were lining up in front of the entrance, waiting for about 30 minutes. The iron plate for grilling was set with a little bean sprouts and onions. Inside the counter seats surrounding the kitchen, the popular cuts like lamb, sirloin, shoulder loin, and Genghis Khan were already sold out. I ordered three types of meat and the sauce here was delicious. The red chili-like spice was also tasty. The meat seemed to be thinly sliced in small portions, but it didn't have a strong odor. It was okay if you didn't have high expectations.
