A few days ago, when I headed to a restaurant in Apia to have spaghetti, I noticed the hanging banner at the storefront of this restaurant. They have a "dinner set menu" starting from 4 pm every day, which includes free rice and miso soup refills. Some people might find this offer enticing, right? But... a miso soup refill? (laughs) I was a bit late due to a delay at work and missing a subway train, so I arrived at 4:39 pm, still before 5 pm. This restaurant operates by pressing a call button at the entrance, and a staff member comes out to seat you. I was guided to a table for two. A female staff member pointed to a tablet device menu and said, "You can place your order here." This is convenient once you get used to it, right? I wonder if it's difficult for security reasons to pay with internet banking and direct debit from your account. The dinner menu has a total of 8 items. The most expensive is the "seafood bowl set menu at 1,208 yen including tax," while the cheapest are the "zangi set menu" and the "teppanyaki gyoza set menu" both at 768 yen including tax. There is also a menu with miso soup replaced or added with pork miso soup and soba. At first, I thought the grilled hokke set menu looked good, but it seemed like it would take more than 10 minutes to cook, so I decided on the "plenty of vegetable meat stir-fry set menu" at 977 yen including tax. I need to eat some vegetables once in a while (laughs). The medium glass or bottle of beer is only 329 yen (tax included) until 6 pm, which is quite cheap, right? But, beer for dinner... (laughs). Oh, and since it's dinner, I'll have a regular serving of rice. Let's send the order through the tablet device and wait for a while. The interior of the restaurant is divided by curtain-like partitions, so each table is separated for privacy. Also, visibility is poor, so you can't tell how many customers are inside. But, judging by the noise level, it feels like it's almost... no, it's almost full. The girls at the table next to mine are getting beer refills quite quickly (laughs). The food arrived in about 12 minutes. The waiter who brought it asked, "Did you still need water?" and quickly brought me a glass of water. On the tray, there was miso soup with takuan pickles, rice, bean salad, and meat and vegetable stir-fry. The stir-fried vegetables included bean sprouts, cabbage, carrots, red and yellow bell peppers, and green peppers. The meat was pork belly. The rice was cooked well, and the miso soup had a strong dashi flavor. The bean salad had various beans and broccoli. It was a nice palate cleanser. The meat and vegetable stir-fry... what can I say? It had a seasoning similar to salted grilled meat, finished with coarse ground pepper. Overall, it was good, right? The price is a bit high, but it might be good for those who want rice and miso soup refills. Thank you for the meal.
