Two Vietnamese exchange student brothers established the "BTK Co., Ltd." company... The president is the older brother, Mr. Bui Tan Huy, who operates the Vietnamese sandwich specialty shop "Bánh Mì Xin Chào" which landed in Hokkaido for the first time a few months ago. As of August 2021, the shop has opened its second location in HUG EAT, in addition to the first location in Tokyo Takadanobaba. Other locations outside of Sapporo include Asakusa, Kobe, Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, and Nagoya. I visited on a weekend afternoon and ordered the "Sunny Side Up Banh Mi @680" for takeout. The Banh Mi was placed in a paper bag and handed to me in a plastic carry bag. I moved to a bench in the sunny Odori Park and took it out to eat. The soft French bread was about 20cm long with plenty of fillings sandwiched inside, making it visually appealing. According to the menu description, the ingredients included sunny side up egg, pork ham, pork pate, butter sauce, chili sauce, green onions, cucumber, daikon carrot salad, and special sauce. Although cilantro was not listed, it was naturally included. The overall balance of flavors of the ingredients was not bad, but the bread was not crispy enough, causing the fillings to spill out while eating. As a result, it was necessary to eat with smaller bites. The bread dough apparently contains rice flour, but the chewy texture was not very noticeable, and the crust lacked a crispy texture. The sandwich was large enough for a woman's lunch but slightly lacking for an adult man's meal. Priced at 700 yen, it is almost the same as a bowl of ramen, so there may be some considerations there. I would like to try other items on the menu if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.
