Next to Otaru, there is a sea urchin specialty store with its main store in Yoichi. Their specialty is the 5 types of sea urchin comparison bowl for 6600 yen, which is quite expensive. A limited menu item, the seafood bowl, is priced at 1980 yen. If you go to the restaurant around 2 PM on a Sunday, you may find that the popular sea urchin bowl is sold out and there is a wait of about 1 hour. You can put your name on the waiting list inside the restaurant and they will call you on your phone when a table is available. Although it is a sea urchin specialty store, you can also enjoy other seafood dishes such as the 5 types of bluefin tuna comparison bowl, fatty salmon and salmon roe bowl, Tokachi beef fatty flakes bowl, and grilled fish set meal. Their drink menu includes Nikka Whisky from the Yoichi distillery and Yoichi wine. [Order] - Yoichi Sweet Shrimp Bowl (4400 yen) *Choose vinegar rice It used to be 2750 yen, but the price has increased to 4400 yen. I was surprised by the significant price hike. They offer a half size option, but I was hungry so I ordered the standard size. I prefer vinegar rice over white rice. The overflowing sweet shrimp bowl is beautifully arranged with about 40 plump sweet shrimps caught in the Sea of Japan off the coast of Yoichi, topped with green onion and salmon roe. It's a delightful dish that shrimp lovers will adore. Comes with a luxurious crab soup. It's rare to see seaweed served with a seafood bowl. You can wrap it in seaweed and enjoy it as a hand-rolled sushi. [Summary] If you're willing to splurge, try the "Ultimate Sea Urchin Bowl". Reservations are only available at 10 AM. The staff at the restaurant were fantastic and the food was delicious. The sea urchin was so sweet and creamy that I didn't even need soy sauce. The vinegar rice was nothing special, but the crab soup was amazing with plenty of flavor. The apple juice was also tasty. The restaurant was spacious and had a great atmosphere. The surrounding town in the summer with the sound of wind chimes was very soothing. The sea urchin bowl was a bit smaller in portion than it looked in the photos, so it's a good choice for a quick bite.

I visited for breakfast and lunch as reservations are only available at 10 a.m. There was no uni from Otaru, but since it's from Hokkaido, it's okay. The presentation of the uni here, like in the Hakodate branch, is a bit sloppy. The uni has both delicious and mediocre parts. However, the miso soup with snow crab is delicious with a strong dashi flavor. The "5 Great Uni Donburi Half ¥6050 tax included" is a bit of a dilemma in terms of cost performance. The staff at the restaurant are very friendly.

I intruded during dinner. This time I ordered a bowl with a comparison of the top 5 sea urchins. Today's sea urchins were Koushin (seared), Matsumae (seared) Koushin, Hi-yama, and Russian. You can choose between vinegared rice and white rice. The Bafun sea urchin had an orange color and a sweetness to it. The Murasaki sea urchin was yellow and had a refreshing taste. It was a shame that there wasn't much shape to the sea urchin. The sweet shrimp was sweet and sticky, with about 10 tails. The crab miso soup had a strong crab flavor. Everything was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I made a reservation for 10:00 and entered the restaurant at that time. It was a weekday during Golden Week on May 2nd, and it seemed like even those without reservations could easily get in that day. The sea urchin tasted delicious, just like in the photos on Tabelog, and there was plenty of it. It's not something I can indulge in regularly, but I've always wanted to try it once, so I was extremely satisfied.

We somehow decided to enter this restaurant in Otaru's Fairy Tale Street. There were many dining options on the street, but this one stood out with its stylish exterior. The interior had a lot of wooden furnishings, giving off a classy vibe. My friend ordered a seafood bowl, while I opted for the grilled fish set meal. The seafood bowl seemed a bit confusing to order, so my friend ended up choosing the most expensive one, which was around 5000 yen. The best part was that you could have unlimited rice refills with your meal. For my grilled fish set, I got a large hokke fish for only 1200 yen, which was a pleasant surprise. The bottled beer was also surprisingly cheap at 500 yen. It was Sapporo Classic.

I wanted to try five different types of sea urchin, so I came from Sapporo to Otaru around 11 o'clock, but they were sold out. Instead, I had a sea urchin and salmon roe rice bowl. It was indeed delicious, but I felt that the quantity and price didn't quite match up. I expected a generous amount of sea urchin, but it was only thinly spread on the surface. The salmon roe was the same. I also felt that the amount of rice was quite small. Considering the price, I think they are being a bit too confident. If you are lured in by the appearance, you might end up disappointed. I believe there are many other restaurants in Sapporo and Otaru that offer better value for money. Personally, I was disappointed because my expectations were high when I entered the restaurant.

The staff's attitude towards foreigners was really bad. The set meal was okay, but not that delicious considering the price. The tuna was not regular sashimi, but a random part that they don't usually sell. There were some parts that were hard to chew. When serving the fatty tuna set meal, the beef was still visibly frozen in ice.

It's incredibly fresh and stands out from sea urchin you eat in Tokyo. ⭐️ Botan shrimp, fatty tuna, salmon, herring... and a mountain of toppings that make you happy (*´∀`*) ⭐️ The grilled seaweed is so delicious! ⭐️ The crab miso soup is also incredibly tasty!

I wanted to eat shrimp, so I stopped by here. For 1980 yen, it had botan shrimp, salmon, tuna, negitoro, yellowtail, and white fish. The negitoro and yellowtail didn't look too fresh. I think it would be better if the menu had pictures. I should have checked and gone to another restaurant. Oh well.

I went to try the sea urchin bowl that I had been curious about for a while! When I looked at the menu after entering the restaurant, I hesitated because of the price, but I ordered the 5 kinds of sea urchin bowl! While waiting and drinking a Nikka highball, the bowl arrived. It came with seaweed, so I could also eat it like a hand roll, and there were sweet shrimp on top, so I enjoyed it to the fullest and finished it all! It was amazing. It was a counter seat, but the downside was that the seat I was assigned was directly in front of the kitchen heat, but it was still a great experience!笑笑

Seiichiya, which has its main store in Yoichi. Initially, it had an image of being crowded with customers at the main store. I knew about it but never really felt the need to go since there are other delicious places for sea urchin. This time, I came to Otaru for sightseeing and wanted to eat seafood bowl! However, it was the Obon period, summer vacation time, and everywhere was really crowded. Even though it was past lunchtime, the market was packed... I couldn't wait in line, so I went a little further and checked out various shops. I knew about this Otaru store, so I included it as a candidate and headed there. Luckily, I only had to wait about 10 minutes to get in, so lucky! I strolled around the town for a bit. When I got a call, I headed to the store. The menu had sea urchin, salmon roe, shrimp, tuna, and more, all my favorite things. But... it's expensive...! I knew it was expensive, but it's really expensive! (laughs) Nevertheless, I ordered the sea urchin and salmon roe bowl (white) without compromising. Then I noticed that there were sweet shrimp on it (laughs). It cost 4400 yen! Expensive, right...! But the amount was so big, almost as much as the rice. The salmon roe and sea urchin were delicious without any complaints! The sea urchin was creamy and had no fishy taste, with a nice salty flavor. The seasoning of the salmon roe was also delicious with my favorite soy sauce. But the few sweet shrimp on top were incredibly delicious! Sweet, plump, it was so good that it could be a sweet shrimp bowl! I think if you want to eat a seafood bowl in Otaru, this place is a hidden gem now.

In Yoichi Town, Hokkaido, there is a famous restaurant called "Uni Specialty Store Seiichiya" known for its "5 Great Uni Tasting Bowl". In 2019, they opened the "Uni Specialty Store Seiichiya Yoichi Home Store", on April 21, 2022, they opened the "Otaru Canal Store", and on April 28, 2022, they collaborated with "Hakodate Seafood Izakaya Uomasa" to open the "Hakodate Uomasa Store". This time, I visited the "Otaru Canal Store". The "5 Great Uni Tasting Bowl" costs 6600 yen (tax included) and includes 5 types of uni: seared Murasaki Uni from Shimamaki, Bafun Uni from Omu, Murasaki Uni from Shimamaki, Bafun Uni from Rebun, and Murasaki Uni from Rishiri. I came here after seeing it on social media. I ordered a sea urchin bowl and a sweet shrimp bowl and shared them. When they arrived, I thought the portions were small, but both were so rich that I became full. They were very fresh and delicious!

I happened to stop by a sea urchin specialty store and decided to try their food. Even though I was already full, I wanted to eat without rice, but they only had rice bowls. I tried the sea urchin and tuna half bowl, the half tuna assortment bowl, sea urchin and salmon roe bowl, and the button shrimp topping. It was delicious. Of course, it's more expensive than last night's dinner. It's not often that you can have such a luxurious lunch, but I'm satisfied. Next time, I'll try the half size. It seems that when it comes to salmon roe, being from Hokkaido doesn't necessarily mean it's especially delicious.

I went to a famous uni-don (sea urchin rice bowl) restaurant in Otaru Canal Street. I visited during lunchtime on a Saturday, and the street was not very crowded, maybe due to the current situation. The atmosphere was a bit sad, as it was far from the lively scene it used to be. Putting that aside, let's talk about the uni-don. The restaurant was spacious with a central kitchen that was somewhat elevated, making it hard to see inside. The staff consisted of what seemed like permanent employees, an older lady and a younger man, along with several high school student-looking part-timers. I ordered the Otaru-produced white/red uni-don, which was the most expensive option on the menu. I opted for the half-size, which was like a bowl of rice filled with uni and topped with sweet shrimp. The miso soup included a half crab and was flavorful. The uni was wrapped in seaweed, and soy sauce was provided. The presentation was impressive, and I had high expectations. However, as I bit into the uni, I noticed a slight bitterness, especially with the red uni. It seemed like it might have been preserved with alum rather than being fresh uni. I tried eating it wrapped in seaweed with soy sauce, but the bitterness remained. I wish they had served fresh uni, especially since they advertised it as being from Otaru. The sweet shrimp had a nice, sticky texture and was delicious. The miso soup had a strong crab flavor and was tasty. Honestly, for the price I paid, I feel like I could have had a better meal elsewhere. The use of young staff also left me feeling a bit uneasy. It's not that they were bad, but I felt that a high-end restaurant should have a certain level of sophistication. My companion had the uni and tuna don, which didn't look very appetizing, especially the tuna which seemed a bit off in color.

I went to a famous sea urchin restaurant in Otaru today because it is known for its sea urchin from Yoichi. I ordered a shrimp bowl from Yoichi, topped with Murasaki sea urchin from Rebun! It was so luxurious! I wanted to try the 5 kinds of sea urchin comparison bowl as well, but it's quite expensive. The average price of sea urchin in Otaru is high. Also, I'm curious if all the sea urchin is from Hokkaido at this price. I'll resist the sea urchin bowl until next month! The shrimp bowl made a big impact! I chose vinegar rice over white rice. The sweet shrimp was shiny and had a nice texture, it was delicious. Surprisingly, the sea urchin was a bit disappointing. Maybe it was one of the less tasty Rebun sea urchins I've had before.
