お猿と狸
On a Sunday near Sapporo Station, I went out for a drink. I always find it difficult to make reservations around Sapporo Station on holidays because many shops are closed. And on this day, it was even more difficult because there was a restriction to only go to the south side, not the north side. In situations like this, it's safe to go to the grilled dish place on the north side, but they don't have tatami rooms, which can be challenging. Instead, this place has private rooms with sturdy tables and some nice chairs, so even elderly people with back problems should be fine here. The process of arranging for a Sunday outing was quite challenging, but once that was sorted, the menu became a dilemma. I had initially ordered a sashimi platter and simmered yellowtail. I knew they would take some time, and there were even some ladies indulging in half-priced yellowtail, making it a luxurious experience. All in all, it was perfect. As we were casually ordering from the menu, everyone cheered and raised their glasses. Cheers! Well, the conversation naturally picked up. It started with "How many years has it been?" and led to nostalgic stories. When the large sashimi platter arrived, everyone was impressed. They took photos and enjoyed the visual appeal, even though the content wasn't that great. And then, the yellowtail arrived! Each person got one, and they were surprisingly large and satisfying to eat. However, the half-priced yellowtail coupon was limited to one per group, so be careful with that. Oh, and when it comes to Hokkaido, there's no such thing as ramen salad... Oh, I see, back when you all lived in Hokkaido, it didn't exist yet. Well, that was decades ago, right? Just as we finished the yellowtail, the saffron cod arrived! The sizable fish impressed everyone, and the fishmonger's efforts in sourcing quality fish were greatly appreciated. Sushi? Why not! It's fine... after all, with this many relatives gathering, the bill won't come to the older generation, so feel free to order whatever you like. As we continued to enjoy drinks, the staff's anticipation and responsiveness increased noticeably, which was amusing to watch. They even expanded our room to accommodate the dishes and quickly responded to our orders, perhaps because there were hardly any other customers in the restaurant that Sunday night. As the night went on, the old man naturally switched to drinking more, and the conversation turned to "What's next?"... but this time, I was in charge of escorting the elderly to the hotel, so I excused myself. In the end, everyone had a great time and truly enjoyed Hokkaido. While the place near Sapporo Station's north exit is good, this place was also quite nice. With a group of drinking enthusiasts and an unlimited budget, the outcome was uncertain, but today it didn't matter, so... Bon appétit! When I checked their website, I was surprised to see they have so many affiliated restaurants.
